Objectives: To identify a key Long chain non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) related to PD and provide a new perspective on the role of LncRNAs in Parkinson's disease (PD) pathophysiology.

Methods: Our study involved analyzing gene chips from the substantia nigra and white blood cells, both normal and PD-inclusive, in the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, utilizing a weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA). The technique of WGCNA facilitated the examination of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the substantia nigra and the white blood cells of individuals with PD.

Background: Laparoscopic gastrectomy lacks hand-direct tactile sense and has a limited surgical field compared to laparotomy. Apart from textbook classification, there are anatomical variations in the gastric arteries. Laparoscopic gastrectomy presents technical difficulties and necessitates a more comprehensive comprehension of regional anatomy than open surgical procedures.

Electronic address:

Background: Breast cancer brain metastasis (BCBM) prognosis has not been evaluated dynamically, which may underestimate patient survival. This study aimed to perform a conditional survival (CS) analysis and develop and validate an individualized real-time prognostic monitoring model for survivors.

Methods: The study included patients with BCBM from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database (training group, n = 998) and our institution (validation group, n = 45) and updated patient overall survival (OS) over time using the CS method: CS(t2|t1)=OS(t1+t2)OS(t1).

Background: Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) are currently 2 major diagnostic biomarkers for gastric cancer (GC). The aims of study were to detect the expression of long intergenic nonprotein coding RNA 1133 (LINC01133), and to evaluate its diagnostic and prognostic value in GC. Furthermore, the clinical performance of the joint detection of LINC01133, CEA and CA19-9 was also evaluate in GC.

Background: Patients with stage IA lung adenocarcinoma (ADC) with an micropapillary (MIP) component are at a higher risk of recurrence after radical surgical resection; however, adding adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT) to their postoperative course remains controversial. This study determined the predictive factors that influence the prognosis of these patients and identified those at high risk of recurrence.

Methods: Between January 2012 and December 2018, 254 eligible patients with stage IA lung ADC with an MIP component were categorized into training (n=169) and validation (n=85) cohorts.

Background: Pseudouridine (Ψ), a C5-glycoside isomer of uridine, stands as one of the most prevalent RNA modifications in all RNA types. Distinguishing from the C-N bond linking uridine to ribose, the link between Ψ and ribose is a C-C bond, endowing Ψ modified RNA distinct properties and functions in various biological processes. The conversion of uridine to Ψ is governed by pseudouridine synthases (PUSs).

Background: For diabetic patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), there is still a debate about whether an off-pump or on-pump approach is advantageous.

Methods: A retrospective review of 1269 consecutive diabetic patients undergoing isolated, primary CABG surgery from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2015 was conducted. Among them, 614 received non-cardiopulmonary bypass treatment during their operation (off-pump group), and 655 received cardiopulmonary bypass treatment (on-pump group).

Purpose: To investigate the application value of support vector machine (SVM) model based on diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) and amide proton transfer- weighted (APTW) imaging in predicting isocitrate dehydrogenase 1(IDH-1) mutation and Ki-67 expression in glioma.

Methods: The DWI, DCE and APTW images of 309 patients with glioma confirmed by pathology were retrospectively analyzed and divided into the IDH-1 group (IDH-1(+) group and IDH-1(-) group) and Ki-67 group (low expression group (Ki-67 ≤ 10%) and high expression group (Ki-67 > 10%)). All cases were divided into the training set, and validation set according to the ratio of 7:3.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates whether patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) should continue immunotherapy after experiencing tumor progression, focusing on survival outcomes and optimal combination therapies.
  • A total of 507 patients were analyzed, divided into two groups: those receiving additional immunotherapy combined with other treatments (Immuno-combination) and those who did not (No-immuno).
  • Results showed that patients in the Immuno-combination group had significantly better progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) compared to the No-immuno group, with the Immuno+Antiangiogenic combination showing the best outcomes.

GAPDH suppresses adenovirus-induced oxidative stress and enables a superfast production of recombinant adenovirus.

Genes Dis

November 2024

Departments of Urology, Endocrinology, Orthopedic Surgery, and Gastroenterological Surgery, The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing 400016, China.

Recombinant adenovirus (rAdV) is a commonly used vector system for gene transfer. Efficient initial packaging and subsequent production of rAdV remains time-consuming and labor-intensive, possibly attributable to rAdV infection-associated oxidative stress and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. Here, we show that exogenous GAPDH expression mitigates adenovirus-induced ROS-associated apoptosis in HEK293 cells, and expedites adenovirus production.

Currently, there is no consensus regarding the extent of surgery for stage I pulmonary carcinoid (PC) tumors, which encompass typical carcinoid (TC) and atypical carcinoid (AC) tumors. Sublobar resection includes segmental resection and wedge resection; the former is regarded as a type of anatomical resection that is better suited for tumor treatment. Therefore, it needs to be further verified whether differences exist in the effects of the two surgical methods on the survival time of patients.
