Oxygen glucose deprivation/re-oxygenation (OGD/R) induces neuronal injury via mechanisms that are believed to mimic the pathways associated with brain ischemia. In SH-SY5Y cells and primary murine neurons, we report that OGD/R induces the accumulation of the microRNA miR-422a, leading to downregulation of miR-422a targets myocyte enhancer factor-2D (MEF2D) and mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 6 (MAPKK6). Ectopic miR-422a inhibition attenuated OGD/R-induced cell death and apoptosis, whereas overexpression of miR-422a induced significant neuronal cell apoptosis.

A1874 is a novel BRD4-degrading proteolysis targeting chimera (PROTAC). In primary colon cancer cells and established HCT116 cells, A1874 potently inhibited cell viability, proliferation, cell cycle progression, as well as cell migration and invasion. The BRD4-degrading PROTAC was able to induce caspase and apoptosis activation in colon cancer cells.

Oncogenic processes exert their greatest effect by targeting regulators of cell proliferation. Studying the mechanism underlying growth augmentation is expected to improve clinical therapies. The ovarian tumor (OTU) subfamily deubiquitinases have been implicated in the regulation of critical cell-signaling cascades, but most OTUs functions remain to be investigated.

Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), arising from nasopharynx epithelium, is a rare type of malignant carcinoma that has a specific geographical distribution and a high risk of distant metastases. For most of the diagnosed NPC patients, the total survival rate decreased significantly due to the high local recurrence rate and metastasis rate. Concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT), as routine therapy strategy of NPC, usually accompanies with high-dosage cytotoxic agents and serious toxic side reaction.

Rationale: Primary fallopian tube carcinoma (PFTC) is an extremely rare but invasive malignancy with a dismal prognosis. Very few data exist on the salvage treatment for patients with PFTC. Here we report a case showing an impressive response to immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy, which have never been reported before on patients with metastatic PFTC.

Background: Alpha-Tocopherol (α-TCP), one major form of vitamin E, has been known as a treatment for airway allergic inflammation. However, the role and mechanism of α-TCP in treating allergic rhinitis remains unclear.
Objective: In this study we examined the inhibitory function of α-TCP in a mouse model of allergic rhinitis.

The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of the CX3CR1 inhibitor AZD8797 in early recovery after acute SCI and elucidate its potential mechanism in blocking inflammation and apoptosis. Adult rats were sacrificed after 3, 7, 10, or 14 days of SCI. The injured spinal tissues were collected for assessing C‑X3‑C motif chemokine ligand 1(CX3CL1)/C‑X3‑C motif chemokine receptor 1 (CX3CR1) expression at each time point via western blotting (WB) and quantitative PCR.

PSMD14 is a 19S-proteasome-associated deubiquitinating enzyme that facilitates protein degradation by the 20S proteasome core particle. Although accumulating evidence indicates that PSMD14 has emerged as a critical oncogenic factor by promoting tumor growth, the expression and function of PSMD14 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remain largely unknown. In this study, we assessed PSMD14 expression and correlated it with clinical-pathological features and patient survival in NSCLC.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of biospray dressing on the extent of eosinophil infiltration in the nasal mucosa and the level of serum IgE in experimental allergic rhinitis with nasal provocation.
Method: Twenty-four BALB/c mice were randomly divided into the normal control group, allergic rhinitis (AR) group, dexamethasone (DEX) treatment group, and biospray dressing (BD) group. The mice in the latter 3 groups were prepared for animal models of AR according to standard protocols.

Purinergic receptors have been reported to be involved in brain disorders. In this study, we explored their roles and mechanisms underlying the memory impairment in rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). T2DM rats exhibited a worse performance in the T-maze and Morris water maze (MWM) than controls.

Objective: To explore the relationship between micro ribonucleic acid (miR)-375 in regulating the N-Myc downstream-regulated gene 2 (Ndrg2)/interleukin-6 (IL-6)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) signaling pathway and diabetic retinopathy (DR) in rats.
Materials And Methods: Thirty Sprague- Dawley rats were randomly divided into Control group (n=10), Model group (n=10), and miR-375 inhibitor group [miR-375 small interfering RNA (siRNA) group, n=10]. The rats in Model group were injected with streptozotocin (STZ) via the tail vein to prepare into rat models of diabetes.

The increase in bone resorption and/or the inhibition of bone regeneration caused by wear particles are the main causes of periprosthetic osteolysis. The SOST gene and Sclerostin, a protein synthesized by the SOST gene, are the characteristic marker of osteocytes and regulate bone formation and resorption. We aimed to verify whether the SOST gene was involved in osteolysis induced by titanium (Ti) particles and to investigate the effects of SOST reduction on osteolysis.

To explore the influence of hyperhomocysteinemia (hHcys) on the tibial fracture healing in rats and its effect on the phosphatidylinositol 3-hydroxy kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (AKT) signaling pathway. A total of 36 Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into sham group (n=12), tibial fracture group (n=12) and hHcys + fracture group (n=12). The rats in tibial fracture group underwent the tibial fracture surgery, while the model of tibial fracture and hHcys was established in hHcys + fracture group.

Previous reports showed that 2-(-2-benzofuranyl)-2-imidazoline (2-BFI) has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic effects on neuroprotection in numerous disorders. However, the precise mechanisms remain elusive. The nuclear factor c factor 2 (Nrf2)/antioxidant response element (ARE) signaling pathway plays an important and essential role in the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory responses of the cell.
