Objectives: To establish an effective dynamic nomogram combining magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of primary tumor and regional lymph nodes with tumor stage for the pretreatment prediction of induction chemotherapy (IC) response in locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LANPC).
Methods: A total of 498 LANPC patients (372 in the training and 126 in the validation cohort) with MRI information were enrolled. All patients were classified as "favorable responders" and "unfavorable responders" according to tumor response to IC.

MicroRNA-378a (miR-378a), including miR-378a-3p and miR-378a-5p, are encoded in gene. miR-378a is essential for tumorigenesis and is an independent prognostic biomarker for various malignant tumors. Aberrant expression of miR-378a affects several physiological and pathological processes, including proliferation, apoptosis, tumorigenesis, cancer invasion, metastasis, and therapeutic resistance.

Induction chemotherapy (IC) plus concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) and CCRT alone were the optional treatment regimens for T3-4N1M0 nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients. Therefore, we established a nomogram to predict clinical prognosis and guide individualized IC in T3-4N1M0 NPC. Overall, 699 T3-4N1M0 NPC patients treated with CCRT with or without IC between January 2010 and December 2018 were examined.

Background: The optimal number of cycles of induction chemotherapy (IC) in locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LANPC) is unclear. We aimed to combine the tumor response during IC and tumor stage to individualize the number of IC cycles.
Methods: Totally, 498 LANPC patients who received IC plus CCRT between 2014 and 2018 were reviewed.

Purpose: We aimed to select optimal candidates benefiting from the addition of induction chemotherapy (IC) to concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) in advanced N-stage nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).
Patients And Methods: A total of 624 NPC patients with N2-3 stage received CCRT with or without IC were retrospectively reviewed. We constructed a nomogram for predicting overall survival (OS) based on the result of the multivariate analysis in the training cohort (n = 468) and then tested it on the validation cohort (n = 156).

Purpose: To investigate independent risk factors for esophageal cancer-related ischemic stroke (ECIS) and to use them to develop an index of ECIS to help clinicians identify patients at high risk for ECIS or to identify ECIS from other types of ischemic stroke.
Methods: We retrospectively enrolled active esophageal cancer (EC) patients with acute ischemic stroke (ECIS group) and patients with active EC without ischemic stroke (EC group), age- and sex-matched with ECIS patients, at seven centers from January 2011 to December 2020. Clinical data and laboratory and imaging findings were collected.

There is no conclusive on the optimal number of cycles of induction chemotherapy (IC) with the greatest benefit to patient survival. This study aimed to assess the efficiency and acute toxicities of different cycles of IC for patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LA-NPC). We reviewed data from patients with LA-NPC treated with IC plus concurrent chemoradiation (CCRT).

Background: Radioresistance plays an important role in the failure of radiotherapy (RT) for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), leading to poor prognosis. The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between the expression of the c-Jun oncogene and the prognosis of NPC. In addition, we investigated the potential mechanisms of c-Jun in the regulation of tumor growth and radioresistance in NPC.

Background: Patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma have a high risk of disease relapse, despite a high proportion of patients attaining complete clinical remission after receiving standard-of-care treatment (ie, definitive concurrent chemoradiotherapy with or without induction chemotherapy). Additional adjuvant therapies are needed to further reduce the risk of recurrence and death. However, the benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma remains controversial, highlighting the need for more effective adjuvant treatment options.

Background: Malignant behavior and radioresistance, which severely limits the efficacy of radiation therapy (RT) in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), are associated with tumor progression and poor prognosis. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are used as a therapeutic tool in a variety of tumors. The aim of this study was to reveal the effect of tumor suppressor microRNA-34c-5p (miR-34c) on NPC development and radioresistance, as well as to confirm that exosomes derived from MSCs overexpressing miR-34c restore the sensitivity to radiotherapy in NPCs.

Acute liver failure (ALF) is a disease of acute derangements in the hepatic synthetic function with defects involving innate immune responses, which was reported to be negatively regulated by tumor necrosis factor α-induced protein 3 (A20). Herein, the present study was conducted to investigate the effects the A20 protein on the proliferation and apoptosis of hepatocytes through the nuclear factor (NF)-κB signaling pathway in the rat models simulating ALF. Male Wistar rats were used to simulate ALF in the model rats.

Materials And Methods: In this study, we first used the scratch assays and transwell assays to detect the migration and invasion of CNE-2R and CNE-2 cells and tested the epithelial mesenchymal transformation (EMT)-related proteins E-cadherin and N-cadherin by Western blot analysis. Subsequently, was knocked down to establish the effect of on EMT, migration, and invasion of CNE-2R cells both in vitro and in vivo.

BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to determine whether cofilin-2 could serve as a protein marker for predicting radiotherapy response and as a potential therapeutic target in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). MATERIAL AND METHODS Cofilin-2 protein levels in serum and tissue samples from patients with NPC were assessed by sandwich ELISA and IHC. In vitro, cofilin-2 levels in CNE-2R cells were significantly higher than those of CNE-2 cells.

Radioresistance is a major cause leads to treatment failure in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). In our previous study, we identified that QSOX1 is a differentially expressed protein in NPC cell lines with variable radiosensitivities. The present study aimed to investigate the biological behavior of QSOX1 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and its effect on radiosensitivity.
