Alteration of circulatory platelet microparticles and endothelial microparticles in patients with chronic kidney disease.

Objective: To compare plasma platelet microparticles (PMPs), P-selectin, endothelial microparticles (EMPs), and von Willebrand factor (vWF) between a normal control group and patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and to explore the significance of PMPs and EMPs in CKD.

Methods: Levels of plasma PMPs, P-selectin, EMPs and vWF in 122 CKD patients and 20 normal controls were detected by flow cytometry and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Relationships between PMPs, EMPs and blood pressure, creatinine clearance rate, 24-hour urine protein, hemoglobin, and cholesterol were analyzed.

Our study aims to determine the clinical significance of human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT), S-phase kinase-associated protein 2 (Skp2) and thyroid transcription factor-1 (TTF-1) mRNA expressions in peripheral blood (PB) of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Real-time polymerase chain reaction was used to investigate the gene expressions of hTERT, Skp2, TTF-1 as in the PB of 60 patients with NSCLC and 20 benign lung diseases. Statistical analyses were performed to examine the correlation between the expression of these mRNA markers and the clinical pathological features of NSCLC.

Background: We investigated the relationships between the ALOX5AP gene rs10507391 and rs4769874 polymorphisms, serum levels of leukotriene (LT) B4, and risk of acute coronary syndrome (ACS).

Methods: A total of 709 participants, comprising 508 ACS patients (ACS group) and 201 noncoronary artery disease patients with chest pain (control group) were recruited from the Han population of the Changwu region in China. Two polymorphic loci were genotyped using polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis.

Effect of recombinant human erythropoietin on serum S100B protein and interleukin-6 levels after traumatic brain injury in the rat.

Erythropoietin (EPO) has a neuroprotective effect in the animal model of ischemia/hypoxia, but the mechanisms underlying the EPO effect in traumatic brain injury (TBI) are not well understood. This study examined the potential neuroprotective mechanisms of recombinant human EPO (rhEPO) in rats after TBI. Sixty healthy adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: 1000 U/kg rhEPO-treated, 3000 U/kg rhEPO-treated, 5000 U/kg rhEPO-treated, citicoline, and normal saline (control) groups.

Percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy combined with catheter-directed thrombolysis in the treatment of symptomatic lower extremity deep venous thrombosis.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy (PMT) combined with catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT) in the treatment of massive symptomatic lower limb deep venous thrombosis (DVT).

Materials And Methods: One hundred and three clinically confirmed DVT patients were discharged from our institution. Sixteen patients with massive lower limb DVT were included in this retrospective study.
