Patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD) are at an increased risk of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), particularly among older individuals. Developing a reliable model to predict AMI occurrence in these patients holds the potential to expedite early diagnosis and intervention. This study is aimed at establishing a circulating amino acid-assisted model, incorporating amino acid profiles alongside clinical variables, to predict AMI risk.

Increasing evidence suggests that CD47 is highly expressed in multiple types of cancer, which could bind to SIRPα on macrophage, leading to inhibition of macrophage phagocytosis and promotion of tumor growth. However, the regulatory mechanism of CD47 gene expression is not completely clear. Our results indicated that colon cancer cells treated with GSK0660 drug, which is one of the PPARδ antagonists, significantly reduced CD47 gene and protein expression levels in a time and dose-dependent manner.

Introduction: Vitamin D has a significant correlation with type 2 diabetes. Insufficient levels of vitamin D can cause insulin resistance, which impairs the ability of cells to respond to insulin and worsens the progression of diseases. Furthermore, vitamin D has the potential to enhance the release of insulin, enhance the regulation of blood sugar levels, and reduce the glycemic index.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the association between central sensitivity to thyroid hormones and all-cause mortality in euthyroid patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Methods: Data on thyroid function indicators and all-cause mortality for CKD patients were extracted from the NHANES database (2007-2012). Central sensitivities to thyroid hormones were mainly evaluated by Thyroid Feedback Quantile-based Index (TFQI).

The aim of our study is to explore the relationship between remnant cholesterol (RC) levels and visceral adipose tissue (VAT) in the US adult population. This cross-sectional study utilized data from 5301 participants aged 20 to 59 years gathered by the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). RC was determined by deducting both high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c) from total cholesterol (TC), and VAT was measured using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry.

Purpose: The ratio of non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-c) to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c) (NHHR) is a novel comprehensive lipid index. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the NHHR and the prevalence of hyperuricaemia (HUA) in the adult population of the U.S.

Purpose: The ratio of monocyte to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (MHR) has surfaced as a novel biomarker indicative of inflammation and oxidative stress. The aim of our study was to evaluate the association between MHR and the risk of kidney stones.

Methods: This study analyzed data from individuals aged 20-79 who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) between 2007 and 2018.

Horm Metab Res

December 2024

Department of Endocrinology, Affiliated Wujin Hospital of Jiangsu University, Wujin Clinical College of Xuzhou Medical University, Changzhou, China.

Remnant cholesterol (RC) is closely related to metabolic diseases. Our study aims to explore the relationship between RC and hyperuricemia. This cross-sectional study included 14 568 adults aged 20 years or older from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) conducted between 2007 and 2018 in the United States.

Purpose: Obesity, particularly abdominal obesity, is seen as a risk factor for diabetic complications. The weight-adjusted-waist index (WWI) is a recently developed index for measuring adiposity. Our goal was to uncover the potential correlation between the WWI index and diabetic kidney disease (DKD) risk.

Background: We aimed to explore the causal relationship between blood metabolites and the risk of visceral obesity, as measured by visceral adipose tissue (VAT).

Methods: Summary statistics for 486 blood metabolites and total, as well as sex-stratified, MRI-derived VAT measurements, adjusted for body mass index (BMI) and height, were collected from previous genome-wide association studies (GWAS). A two-sample Mendelian Randomization (MR) design was used.

Immune cells can protect against tumor progression by killing cancer cells, while aberrant expression of the immune checkpoint protein PD-L1 (programmed death ligand 1) in cancer cells facilitates tumor immune escape and inhibits anti-tumor immunotherapy. As a serine/threonine kinase, CK2 (casein kinase 2) regulates tumor progression by multiple pathways, while it is still unclear the effect of CK2 on tumor immune escape. Here it is found that ING4 induced PD-L1 autophagic degradation and inhibites non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) immune escape by increasing T cell activity.

Bronchial asthma often causes cognitive impairment, especially attentional deficit, which has a serious impact on children's learning. This study aims to provide objective indicators for the evaluation of attention in asthma children. Thirty-one asthmatic and typically developing children (TDC) were tested by resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI).

We aimed to explore the brain functional connectivity mechanism of attention cognitive impairment in children with nocturnal enuresis (NE). Children with NE often show attention cognitive deficit, but its brain mechanism remains unclear. Most previous studies have only focused on a single brain region, without involving the association among brain regions.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a major contributor to morbidity and mortality worldwide. Myocardial ischemia may occur in patients with normal or non-obstructive CAD on invasive coronary angiography (ICA). The comprehensive evaluation of coronary CT angiography (CCTA) integrated with fractional flow reserve derived from CCTA (CT-FFR) to CAD may be essential to improve the outcomes of patients with non-obstructive CAD.

Polydopamine-Coated Poly(l-lactide) Nanofibers with Controlled Release of VEGF and BMP-2 as a Regenerative Periosteum.

ACS Biomater Sci Eng

October 2021

State Key Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Division of Sports Medicine and Adult Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, The Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University Medical School, 321 Zhongshan Road, Nanjing, Jiangsu 210008, P.R. China.

The periosteum plays an important role in vascularization and ossification during bone repair. However, in most studies, an artificial periosteum cannot restore both functions of the periosteum concurrently. In this study, a novel nanofiber that can sustain the release of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) was fabricated to enhance the durability of angiogenesis and osteogenesis during bone regeneration.
