Article Synopsis
  • * A study involving 49 patients found that the triple combination group had longer progression-free survival (7.9 months) and overall survival (13.7 months) compared to those on lenvatinib plus toripalimab, suggesting better treatment outcomes.
  • * Despite experiencing adverse events, there weren't any specific toxicities linked to the triple therapy, and PDL1 expression was noted to correlate with improved clinical outcomes. This combination therapy appears to be a promising option for advanced BTC.

NSUN2 promotes osteosarcoma progression by enhancing the stability of FABP5 mRNA via mC methylation.

Cell Death Dis

February 2023

Department of Spine Surgery and Musculoskeletal Tumor, Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, Wuhan, 430071, People's Republic of China.

5-methylcytosine (mC) modification, which is mainly induced by the RNA methyltransferase NSUN2 (NOP2/Sun domain family, member 2), is an important chemical posttranscriptional modification in mRNA and has been proven to play important roles in the progression of many cancers. However, the functions and underlying molecular mechanisms of NSUN2-mediated mC in osteosarcoma (OS) remain unclear. In this study, we found NSUN2 was highly expressed in OS tissues and cells.

Background: Apatinib is approved in China for the treatment of advanced gastric adenocarcinoma that had progressed or relapsed after standard systemic chemotherapy treatments. However, the effectiveness of Apatinib under real-world condition has not been evaluated and the drug performance under ideal and controlled circumstances has not been validated. In fact, genetic factors, poor healthcare access, social economic status, comorbidities compliance and other factors play significant role in drug performance under "real-world" conditions.

N6-methylation of adenosine (m6A) is one of the most frequent chemical modifications in eukaryotic RNAs and plays a vital role in tumorigenesis and progression. Recently, emerging studies have shown that m6A modification by ALKBH5 was associated with immunotherapy response in various types of cancer. However, whether m6A demethylases ALKBH5 participate in regulating the tumor immune microenvironment and the efficacy of immunotherapy in glioblastoma remain unknown.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second most common cause of cancer-related death in the world. The pro-viral integration site for Moloney murine leukemia virus 1 (PIM1) is a proto-oncogene and belongs to the serine/threonine kinase family, which are involved in cell proliferation, migration, and apoptosis. Fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1) is a tyrosine kinase that has been implicated in cell proliferation, differentiation and migration.

All-trans retinoic acid enhanced the antileukemic efficacy of ABT-199 in acute myeloid leukemia by downregulating the expression of S100A8.

Int Immunopharmacol

November 2022

Department of Hematology, Affiliated Tumor Hospital of Zhengzhou University, Henan Cancer Hospital, 127 Dongming Road, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, China. Electronic address:

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is prone to relapse. Targeted therapy with a specific inhibitor of the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 ABT-199 is an effective method for relapsed and refractory patients, but drug resistance is likely, which is primarily related to high Mcl-1 and S100A8 expression. All-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) can inhibit Bcl-2 and Mcl-1 expression.

Adiponectin Ameliorates GMH-Induced Brain Injury by Regulating Microglia M1/M2 Polarization AdipoR1/APPL1/AMPK/PPARγ Signaling Pathway in Neonatal Rats.

Front Immunol

June 2022

Neurosurgery Center, Department of Cerebrovascular Surgery, Engineering Technology Research Center of Education Ministry of China on Diagnosis and Treatment of Cerebrovascular Disease, Zhujiang Hospital, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, China.

Adiponectin (APN), a fat-derived plasma hormone, is a classic anti-inflammatory agent. Multiple studies have demonstrated the beneficial role of APN in acute brain injury, but the effect of APN in germinal matrix hemorrhage (GMH) is unclear, and the underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely undefined. In the current study, we used a GMH rat model with rh-APN treatment, and we observed that APN demonstrated a protective effect on neurological function and an inhibitory effect on neuroinflammation after GMH.

Acrolein, an unsaturated aldehyde, is increased in the brain of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients and identified as a potential inducer of sporadic AD. Synaptic dysfunction, as a typical pathological change occurring in the early stage of AD, is most closely associated with the severity of dementia. However, there remains a lack of clarity on the mechanisms of acrolein inducing AD-like pathology and synaptic impairment.
