Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-3 (VEGFR-3) plays an indispensable role in lymphangiogenesis. Previous findings suggest that blocking the VEGFR-3 signaling pathway can inhibit lymph node metastasis effectively, thus reducing the incidence of distant metastasis. The development of new VEGFR-3-targeting drugs for early detection and effective treatments is, therefore, urgently required.

The occurrence of metastasis is a major factor contributing to poor prognosis in colorectal cancer. Different stages of the disease play a crucial role in distant metastasis. Furthermore, m6A has been demonstrated to play a significant role in regulating tumor metastasis.

Certain long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have potential peptide-coding abilities. Here, the role and molecular basis of the RNF217-AS1-encoded peptide in stomach cancer (SC) tumorigenesis were explored. Here, lncRNAs associated with SC pathogenesis and macrophage infiltration and lncRNAs with peptide-coding potential were searched by bioinformatics analysis.

Background: Thermal ablation is routinely used for solitary colorectal liver metastases (SCLM), but the added value of adjuvant systemic therapy in SCLM remains unclear. This study aimed to compare the long-term outcomes for SCLM treated by ablation alone (AB) versus ablation plus systemic therapy (AS).
Methods: This multicenter retrospective study using nationwide data from fourteen institutions between October 2010 and May 2023, 369 patients with initial SCLM smaller than 5 cm, no extrahepatic metastases, and colorectal cancer R0 resection treated by thermal ablation were included.

Encoded by , the Src-homology 2 domain-containing phosphatase 2 (SHP2) integrates signals from various membrane-bound receptors such as receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs), cytokine and integrin receptors and thereby promotes cell survival and proliferation. Activating mutations in the gene may trigger signaling pathways leading to the development of hematological malignancies, but are rarely found in solid tumors. Yet, aberrant SHP2 expression or activation has implications in the development, progression and metastasis of many solid tumor entities.

Purpose: Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 3 (VEGFR-3) plays a critical role in tumor lymphangiogenesis and metastasis, holding promise as a promising therapeutic target for solid tumors. TMVP1 (LARGR) is a 5-amino acid peptide previously identified in our laboratory from bacterial peptide display system that specifically targets VEGFR-3. Radiolabeled TMVP1 can be used for non-invasive imaging of VEGFR-3 expressing tumors.

Background: We aim to investigate the prevalence, patterns, risk factors, and outcomes of peritoneal metastases (PM) after curative laparoscopic hepatectomy (LH) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Methods: A multicenter cohort of 2,138 HCC patients who underwent curative LH from August 2010 to December 2016 from seven hospitals in China was retrospectively analyzed. The incidence of PM following LH was evaluated and compared with that in open hepatectomy (OH) after 1:1 propensity score matching (PSM).

The growing emphasis on dietary health has facilitated the development of plant-based foods. Plant proteins have excellent functional attributes and health-enhancing effects and are also environmentally conscientious and animal-friendly protein sources on a global scale. The addition of plant proteins (including soy protein, pea protein, zein, nut protein, and gluten protein) to diverse cheese varieties and cheese analogs holds the promise of manufacturing symbiotic products that not only have reduced fat content but also exhibit improved protein diversity and overall quality.

Acute liver injury (ALI) is a common clinical disease caused by sepsis, metabolic syndrome, hepatitis virus. Macrophage plays an important role in the development of ALI, which is characterized by polarization and inflammatory regulation. The polarization process of macrophages is related to membrane binding proteins and adaptors.

The integrity of the intestinal mucosal barrier is crucial for protecting the intestinal epithelium against invasion by commensal bacteria and pathogens, thereby combating colitis. The investigation revealed that the absence of TSP50 compromised the integrity of the intestinal mucosal barrier in murine subjects. This disruption facilitated direct contact between intestinal bacteria and the intestinal epithelium, thereby increasing susceptibility to colitis.

Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is a rare and aggressive myeloid malignancy which characteristically expresses an atypical phenotype including CD123+, CD56+, and CD4+. We are aimed to investigate the clinical and prognostic characteristics of AML patients exhibiting BPDCN-like immunophenotype and provide additional insights for risk stratification of AML. A total of 241 newly diagnosed AML patients were enrolled in this retrospective study and categorized into BPDCN-like positive (n = 125)/negative (n = 116) groups, determined by the present with CD123+ along with either CD56+ or CD4+, or both.

Background: Persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is a known cause of a subset of head and neck cancers (HNCs). In the last two decades, the proportion of HNCs attributable to HPV infection has increased worldwide, notably the oropharyngeal cancers. However, the trend of HPV-related HNC burden is not clearly understood yet in China.

Background: The molecular mechanism of the significant role of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in the progression and metastasis of gastric cancer (GC) remains largely elusive. Our objective is to detect overexpressed lncRNA in GC and investigate its role in promoting epithelial-mesenchymal transition and tumour microenvironment remodel.
Methods: LncRNA differential expression profile in GC was analysed using RNA microarrays.

Background: While previous studies have revealed a positive association between resilience and quality of life in advanced cancer survivors, the mechanisms of the relationship is still unclear. This study aimed to explore the relationships between resilience, social support, spirituality, and quality of life and determine the multiple mediation effects of social support and spirituality on the relationship between resilience and quality of life.
Methods: With 286 advanced cancer survivors, a cross-sectional, correlational survey was adopted using convenience sampling.

Kidney stones are a common urological disorder with increasing prevalence worldwide. The treatment of kidney stones mainly relies on surgical procedures or extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, which can effectively remove the stones but also result in some complications and recurrence. Therefore, finding a drug or natural compound that can prevent and treat kidney stones is an important research topic.

Background And Aims: Galanin is a naturally occurring peptide that plays a critical role in regulating inflammation and energy metabolism, with expression in the liver. The exact involvement of galanin in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and related fibrosis remains controversial.
Methods: The effects of subcutaneously administered galanin were studied in mice with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) induced by a high-fat and high-cholesterol diet for 8 weeks, and in mice with liver fibrosis induced by CCl for 7 weeks.
