Retrospective analysis of immediate and long-term results of NOSES technique and conventional laparoscopic-assisted resection in patients with colorectal cancer.

Introduction: The aim of research was to study the feasibility and safety of surgery providing specimen extraction through natural orifices in patients with colorectal cancer.

Materials And Methods: This study is a comparative retrospective analysis of findings obtained from 265 patients who underwent surgical treatment using NOSES technique and 275 patients who underwent laparoscopic-assisted (LA) resection. Data included preoperative patients' information, intraoperative findings, results of postoperative pathological examination of surgical specimens, early postoperative period analysis, and follow-up.

Endoplasmic reticulum stress response pathway-mediated cell death in ovarian cancer.

The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is one of the largest organelles, and Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress Response Pathway is a series of responses triggered by the homeostatic imbalance of the ER and the state in which unfolded or misfolded proteins accumulate in the ER, which can trigger cell death. Cell death plays a crucial role in the development of diseases such as gynecological oncology. Herein, we review the current research on the response and ovarian cancer, discussing the key sensors (IRE1, PERK, ATF6), and the conditions under which it occurs (Ca homeostasis disruption, hypoxia, others).

Camrelizumab plus rivoceranib versus sorafenib as first-line therapy for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (CARES-310): a randomised, open-label, international phase 3 study.

Background: Immunotherapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors combined with an anti-angiogenic tyrosine-kinase inhibitor (TKI) has been shown to improve overall survival versus anti-angiogenic therapy alone in advanced solid tumours, but not in hepatocellular carcinoma. Therefore, a clinical study was conducted to compare the efficacy and safety of the anti-PD-1 antibody camrelizumab plus the VEGFR2-targeted TKI rivoceranib (also known as apatinib) versus sorafenib as first-line treatment for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma.

Methods: This randomised, open-label, international phase 3 trial (CARES-310) was done at 95 study sites across 13 countries and regions worldwide.

Effect of dietary antioxidants on the risk of prostate cancer. Systematic review and network meta-analysis.

Objective: the purpose of this study was to assess the impact of 14 treatments including a total of 10 dietary antioxidants on the risk of prostate cancer. Material and methods: we searched PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, and the Web of Science for only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to investigate the effect of these 10 antioxidants on the risk of getting prostate cancer. Using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Assessment Tool, the methodological quality of the included studies was evaluated.

Metabolomics Reveals Novel Serum Metabolic Signatures in Gastric Cancer by a Mass Spectrometry Platform.

Gastric cancer (GAS) is one of the malignant tumors of the gastrointestinal system. Alterations in metabolite composition can reflect pathological processes of GAS and constitute a basis for diagnosis and treatment improvements. In this study, a total of 301 serum samples from 150 GAS patients at different tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stages and 151 healthy controls were collected.

A generalization performance study on the boosting radiotherapy dose calculation engine based on super-resolution.

Purpose: During the radiation treatment planning process, one of the time-consuming procedures is the final high-resolution dose calculation, which obstacles the wide application of the emerging online adaptive radiotherapy techniques (OLART). There is an urgent desire for highly accurate and efficient dose calculation methods. This study aims to develop a dose super resolution-based deep learning model for fast and accurate dose prediction in clinical practice.

A multicenter phase 2 trial of camrelizumab plus famitinib for women with recurrent or metastatic cervical squamous cell carcinoma.

This phase 2 study assesses the efficacy and safety of camrelizumab (an anti-PD-1 antibody) plus famitinib (anti-angiogenic agent) in women with pretreated recurrent or metastatic cervical cancer (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT03827837). Patients with histologically or cytologically confirmed cervical squamous cell carcinoma experiencing relapse or progression during or after 1-2 lines of systemic therapy for recurrent or metastatic disease are enrolled.

Efficacy and Safety of the Anti-PD-L1 mAb Socazolimab for Recurrent or Metastatic Cervical Cancer: a Phase I Dose-Escalation and Expansion Study.

Purpose: This study (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier, NCT03676959) is an open, phase I dose-escalation and expansion study investigating the safety and efficacy of the recombinant, fully human anti-programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) mAb socazolimab in patients diagnosed with recurrent or metastatic cervical cancer.

Patients And Methods: Patients received socazolimab every 2 weeks until disease progression.

KDM5B regulates the PTEN/PI3K/Akt pathway to increase sorafenib-resistance in hepatocellular carcinoma.

Lysine-specific demethylase 5B (KDM5B) exerts its tumor-promoting functions in numerous malignancies, although the possible mechanisms by which KDM5B promotes cancer aggressiveness in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have been preliminarily explored, the role of this gene in regulating sorafenib-resistance in HCC has not been studied. Thus, the present study was designed to resolve this problem, and our data suggested that KDM5B was significantly upregulated in the HCC tissues collected from patients with sorafenib treatment history. Consistently, continuous low-dose sorafenib administration increased KDM5B expression levels in the sorafenib-resistant HCC cells compared to their sorafenib-sensitive counterparts.

A multi-platform metabolomics reveals possible biomarkers for the early-stage esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

Background: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is one of the most prevalent types of upper gastrointestinal malignancies. This work aimed to identify potential biomarkers for early screening for ESCC and characterize the systemic metabolic disturbances underlying ESCC using multi-platform metabolomics analysis.

Methods: We divided 239 patients (the early-stage ESCC patients, n = 132; Healthy controls, n = 107) into discovery and validation sets after matching age and sex.

Objective: The study conducted a multicenter study in China to explore the learning curve of contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) for sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs), the feasibility of using this technique for the localization of SLNs and lymphatic channels (LCs) and its diagnostic performance for lymph node metastasis.

Method: Nine hundred two patients with early invasive breast cancer from six tertiary class hospitals in China were enrolled between December 2016 and December 2019. Each patient received general ultrasound scanning and SLN-CEUS before surgery.

In this study, we aimed to evaluate the aberrant expression of 32 rhythm genes in breast cancer and detect the pathological roles and molecular mechanisms of the altered rhythm gene in regulating the progression of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC).

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disease that increases the risk of infertility. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) play important roles in regulating the biological processes of PCOS. Our study was designed to explore the function of circ-FURIN in PCOS.

Identification of sixteen metabolic genes as potential biomarkers for colon adenocarcinoma.

Purpose: To identify some key prognosis-related metabolic genes (PRMG) and establish a clinical prognosis model for colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) patients.

Methods: We used The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) to obtain gene expression profiles of COAD, and then identified differentially expressed prognostic-related metabolic genes through R language and Perl software, Through univariate Cox analysis and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) Cox analysis to obtain target genes, established metabolic genes prognostic models and risk scores. Through Cox regression analysis, independent risk factors affecting the prognosis of COAD were analyzed, and receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve analysis of independent prognostic factors was performed and a nomogram for predicting overall survival was constructed.

Since the discovery of microRNAs (miRNAs) as a class of important regulatory molecules, miRNAs are involved in the occurrence and development of tumors. In this paper, we aimed to identify the role of miR-1274a in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The miR-1274a expression levels in four NSCLC cells and tissues from 125 patients were determined by qRT-PCR assays.

FK506 binding protein 10: a key actor of collagen crosslinking in clear cell renal cell carcinoma.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common type of malignant tumor in the kidney. With numbers of patients whose physical condition or tumor stage not suitable for radical surgery, they only have a narrow choice of using VEGF/mTOR targeted drugs to control their tumors, but ccRCC often shows resistance to these drugs. Therefore, identifying a new therapeutic target is of urgent necessity.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is usually diagnosed at late stages, making it the second cause of malignancy-related death across the world. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are of significance to tumorigenesis, highly suggestive of their functional roles as novel biomarkers for cancer therapy. The current study investigated the specific role of lncRNA TPTE pseudogene 1 (TPTEP1) in HCC.

Sintilimab Plus Platinum and Gemcitabine as First-Line Treatment for Advanced or Metastatic Squamous NSCLC: Results From a Randomized, Double-Blind, Phase 3 Trial (ORIENT-12).

Introduction: The standard chemotherapy for squamous NSCLC (sqNSCLC) includes platinum plus gemcitabine. Sintilimab, an anti-programmed cell death protein 1 antibody, plus platinum and gemcitabine (GP) has revealed encouraging efficacy as first-line therapy for sqNSCLC in a phase 1b study. We conducted a randomized, double-blind, phase 3 study to further compare the efficacy and safety of sintilimab with placebo, both in combination with GP.
