Objective: To evaluate the effect of pressing needle therapy on depression, anxiety, and sleep in patients recovering from COVID-19, and to provide a more effective and convenient treatment for the sequelae of COVID-19.
Methods: A total of 136 patients recovering from COVID-19 were randomized into a treatment group (68 cases) and a control group (68 cases, with one case dropping out). The treatment group received pressing needle therapy, while the control group received sham pressing needle therapy, three times a week for 4 weeks.

Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the comparative efficacy in third-line setting for metastatic CRC (mCRC) patients using matched population of FRESCO trial with fruquintinib and real-world data with other TKIs.
Materials And Methods: The arm of fruquintinib from the FRESCO phase III trial (NCT02314819) included the data of patients with metastatic CRC that progressed after at least two lines of chemotherapy and received fruquintinib treatment. An external control arm was constructed using real-world data (RWD) of patients who received other TKIs based on key eligibility criteria of FRESCO.

Background/aims: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly-used medications, and ailments such as arthritis or heart disease, require long-term use of these drugs, which can induce gastroenteropathy with bleeding and ulcers. This study investigated the associations between efficacy, safety, and gastrointestinal symptoms linked to rebamipide and proton pump inhibitor administration in patients requiring long-term NSAID use.
Methods: This study was a multi-center, randomized, open-labeled, pilot design.

Cadmium (Cd), the common environmental pollutant, primarily targets at renal proximal tubules and induces nephrotoxicity. Cellular senescence, a phenomenon of cell growth arrest and a characteristics of maladaptive cell self-repair, is associated with renal disease progression. However, whether and how Cd induces renal tubular cells premature senescence is unknown.

Proper medication compliance is critical for the integrity of clinical practice, directly related to the success of clinical trials to evaluate both pharmacological-based and device-based therapies. Here, we established a liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method to accurately detect 55 chemical entities in the human urine sample, which accounting for the most commonly used 172 antihypertensive drugs in China. The established method had good accuracy and intraday and interday precision for all analyses in both bench tests and validated in 21 hospitalized patients.

Introduction: Impaired esophageal and gastric motilities are known to contribute to symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). However, there is a lack of GERD therapy, targeting both gastric and esophageal functions. This study was designed to investigate the effects of transcutaneous electrical acustimulation (TEA) on symptoms of GERD and gastroesophageal functions and possible mechanisms in patients with GERD.

Cadmium (Cd) is a nephrotoxicant that primarily damages renal proximal tubular cells. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress is mechanistically linked to Cd-induced renal injury. Inositol-requiring enzyme 1 (IRE-1α) is the most conserved ER stress transducer protein, which has both kinase and endonuclease activities.

Background: The aim of this study was to research the effects of glutamine synthetase (GS) and glutamate aspartate transporter (GLAST) in rat Müller cells and the effects of an adenosine AR antagonist (SCH 442416) on GS and GLAST in hypoxia both and .
Methods: This study used RT-PCR and Western blotting to quantify the expressions of GS and GLAST under different hypoxic conditions as well as the expressions of GS and GLAST at different drug concentrations. A cell viability assay was used to assess drug toxicity.

High resident job performance is essential for effective medical professionalism. To date, few studies have investigated the potential predictors of job performance among residents in standardized residency training (SRT) program in China. Therefore, a nationwide survey among Chinese residents in SRT program was conducted to evaluate the impact of job satisfaction and psychological resilience on job performance.

Background/aim: Gastric dysmotility is one of pathophysiologies of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of transcutaneous electrical acustimulation (TEA) on gastric accommodation and gastric slow waves, and evaluate possible mechanisms in patients with GERD.
Methods: Thirty patients were studied in two randomized sessions of sham-TEA and TEA with the measurements of esophageal high-resolution manometry (HRM), gastric accommodation assessed by a nutrient-drinking test, electrogastrogram (EGG), electrocardiogram (ECG), and postprandial dyspeptic symptoms.

MSC-derived exosomes display, among others, an efficient biocompatibility and a reduced intrinsic immunogenicity, representing a valuable vehicle for drug delivery in a tumor-therapeutic approach. Following treatment of several human mesenchymal stroma/stem-like cell (MSC) populations with sub-lethal concentrations of taxol for 24 h, exosomes were isolated and applied to different human cancer populations including A549 lung cancer, SK-OV-3 ovarian cancer, and MDA-hyb1 breast cancer cells. While MSC control exosomes revealed little if any growth inhibition on the tumor cells, exposure to taxol-loaded MSC-derived exosomes was associated with 80-90% cytotoxicity.

Objective: This study assessed the ability of conventional computed tomography (CT) features (including primary tumors, metastatic lesions, lymph nodes, and emphysema) to predict epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations in advanced pulmonary adenocarcinoma.
Methods: Patients who were diagnosed with advanced pulmonary adenocarcinoma between January 2017 and August 2017 and had undergone a chest CT and EGFR mutation testing were enrolled in this retrospective study. Qualitative and quantitative CT-features and clinical characteristics evaluated in this study included: primary tumor location, size, and morphology (including degree of lobulation, density, calcification, cavitation, vacuole sign, and air bronchogram), size and distribution of lung and pleural metastatic nodules, size and status of hilar and mediastinal lymph nodes, emphysema, organs with distant metastasis, and patient age, sex, and smoking history.

Background: Primary pulmonary lymphoma (PPL) mainly comprises mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma as well as other subtypes of lymphoma. Different phenotypes of PPL demonstrate various high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) features. We aimed to evaluate the value of HRCT in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of PPL, especially between MALT lymphoma and non-MALT lymphoma and the correlation between CT and pathological features.

Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are an important cell type present in solid tumor microenvironments, including that of gastric cancer. They play a vital role in the promotion of tumorigenesis, angiogenesis, and cancer progression through paracrine signaling and modulation of the extracellular matrix. However, the exact molecular mechanism underlying the interaction between gastric cancer cells and stromal fibroblasts remains poorly understood.
