Five phenylpropanoid dimers chrysanthephenyls A-E, with the 1-O-1'-type (1) and 1-O-2'-type (2-5) ether bond linking modes, were isolated from the aerial parts of Chrysanthemum indicum. Among them, chrysanthephenyls D and E were two pairs of enantiomers, and chrysanthephenyl E was further resolved into its enantiomers (+)-chrysanthephenyl E and (-)-chrysanthephenyl E via chiral-phase HPLC. Their structures were characterized on the basic analysis of the spectroscopic techniques (IR, HRESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR), and their absolute configurations were determined by DP4+ NMR analysis and ECD calculation method.

Background: Depression is common in stroke survivors and affects their recovery and quality of life (QoL). Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) can improve post-stroke outcomes but the impact on early-onset post-stroke depression (PSD) is unclear. This was evaluated by comparing depression symptoms between patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) with vs.

Background: The relationship between lipid metabolism, immune response, and immunotherapy in prostate cancer (PCa) is closely intertwined, and targeted intervention in lipid metabolism may facilitate the success of anticancer immunotherapy. This research attempted to explore effective immunotherapy for PCa.
Methods: We obtained RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data for PCa patients from the UCSC Xena platform.

Background: The 17-gene Genomic Prostate Score (GPS) test has been clinically employed to predict adverse prognosis in prostate cancer. In this meta-analysis, we aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of the 17-gene GPS in patients with prostate cancer.
Methods: Potentially relevant studies were obtained by searching PubMed, Web of Science, Embase databases from their inception to December 1, 2023.

Early diagnosis of drug-induced kidney injury (DIKI) is essential for clinical treatment and intervention. However, developing a reliable method to trace kidney injury origins through retrospective studies remains a challenge. In this study, we designed ordered fried-bun-shaped Au nanocone arrays (FBS NCAs) to create microarray chips as a surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) analysis platform.

Dermal papilla cell (DPC) belongs to a specialized mesenchymal stem cell for hair follicle regeneration. Maintaining the ability of DPCs to stimulate hair in vitro culture is important for hair follicle morphogenesis and regeneration. As the third generation of platelet concentrate, injectable platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF) is a novel biomaterial containing many growth factors and showing promising effects on tissue reconstruction.

Background: The traditional Gamma3 nail is a mainstream treatment for femoral intertrochanteric fractures. Literature reports that the Gamma3U-blade system can increase the stability of the Gamma3 nail and reduce complication incidence. However, comparative studies between the Gamma3U-blade and Gamma3 systems are limited; hence, this meta-analysis was performed to explore the clinical efficacy of these two surgical methods.

Non-coding RNAs have an impact in tumor cell proliferation, migration, and apoptosis, and they also regulate the differentiation and regulation of immune cells. In macrophages, they stimulate the polarization of macrophages into M1 or M2 by regulating proteins related to signaling pathways; in tumor cells, non-coding RNAs can enter macrophages through exosomes and affect the latter polarization.

Background: Previous research has yielded conflicting results on the link between epilepsy risk and lipid-lowering medications. The aim of this study is to determine whether the risk of epilepsy outcomes is causally related to lipid-lowering medications predicted by genetics.
Methods: We used genetic instruments as proxies to the exposure of lipid-lowering drugs, employing variants within or near genes targeted by these drugs and associated with low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL cholesterol) from a genome-wide association study.

Studies on the prognostic value of the blood 25-hydroxyvitamin D level have yielded controversial results in prostate cancer (PCa) patients. This updated meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the association between pretreatment 25-hydroxyvitamin D level with survival outcomes among patients with clinically localized PCa. PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase databases were searched to identify studies evaluating the association of pretreatment 25-hydroxyvitamin D level with PCSM and all-cause mortality among clinically localized PCa patients.

Background: A consensus has not been reached on the value of prostate-specific antigen density (PSAD) as a predictor of biochemical recurrence of prostate cancer. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the association between PSAD and biochemical recurrence of prostate cancer after primary treatment.
Methods: Two authors systematically searched PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase databases (up to August September 10, 2023) to identify studies that assessed the value of pretreatment PSAD in predicting biochemical recurrence after primary treatment (radical prostatectomy or radiotherapy) of prostate cancer.

Purpose: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) has unique biochemical traits and pathogenic mechanisms, which make it a substantial cause of gastrointestinal cancers. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have concurrently been identified as an important participating factor in the pathophysiology of several different cancers.

Objective: This meta-analysis aimed to assess the influence of comorbidity, as assessed by the Charlson comorbidity index (CCI), on survival outcomes in patients with prostate cancer (PCa).
Methods: We conducted a comprehensive search of the PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase databases to identify studies that examined the association between CCI-defined comorbidity and survival outcomes in PCa patients. We employed a random effect model to merge adjusted hazard ratios (HR) with 95 % confidence intervals (CI) for survival outcomes.

Background: Gastric cancer is a common malignant tumor of the digestive tract and the fourth leading cause of death from cancer-related diseases. In recent years, many studies have found that circular RNAs play an important role in cancer. Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are also critical for tumor progression.

Objectives: Perinatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a condition that can lead to long-term cognitive, motor, and behavioral impairments in newborns. Although brain hypothermia therapy is currently the standard treatment for HIE, it does not provide complete neuroprotection. As a result, there is a need to explore additional therapies to enhance treatment outcomes.

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is a widely used rapid and noninvasive method for detecting biological substances in serum samples and is commonly employed in disease screening and diagnosis. Solid-state nanoarray SERS substrates used in serum detection may cause spectral instability due to imperfections in the detection method. For the purpose of identifying optimal detection conditions, various dilution levels of the serum were tested in this study.

Background & Objectives: Due to the hidden pathogen, carotid artery stenosis (CAS) always occurred at an advanced stage leading to serious sequelae and even deaths. The significance of long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) prostate cancer antigen 3 (PCA3) in CAS incidence and progression were evaluated aiming to explore a potential target for its therapy.
Materials And Methods: Serum samples were collected from 83 asymptomatic CAS patients and 52 healthy individuals and PCA3 was compared using polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
