Extracellularmatrix (ECM)-based scaffolds are important for their potential therapeutic application. Treated dentin matrix (TDM), a kind of ECM, seeded with allogeneic dental follicle stem cells (TDM/aDFC) provides a suitable inductive microenvironment for tooth root regeneration. Considering the limited sources, xenogeneic TDM (xTDM) is a possible alternative to allogeneic TDM; however, xTDM-based scaffold presents severe osteolysis and resorption lacunae causing regenerated tooth root failure.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to introduce a minimally invasive bone splitting technique which is suitable for cases with missing anterior teeth and obvious depression of alveolar bone in labial side, and to evaluate its clinical results.
Methods: Minimally invasive bone splitting technique was used in 8 healthy adults with bone defects in the aesthetic zone. The labial alveolar bone incisions were confined around the bone defects which were smaller than traditional incisions.

Tissue or organ regeneration using xenogeneic matrices is a promising approach to address the shortage of donor matrices for allotransplantation. Success of such approach has been demonstrated to correlate with macrophage-mediated fibrotic homeostasis and tissue remodeling. The previous studies have demonstrated that treated dentin matrix (TDM) could be a suitable bioactive substrate for allogeneic tooth root regeneration.

Purpose: To evaluate the incidence of pain during intracanal medication before and after root canal instrumentation for therapeutic reference.
Methods: Three hundred and twenty four teeth were selected in this study, and the teeth received root canal therapy with crown-down technique using ProTaper rotary system, followed by calcium hydroxide intracanal medication. The degree of reported pain was recorded as 4 levels after treatment according to the Negm criteria.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the differential proteins that interact with protein kinase C‑δ (PKC‑δ) in hyperthermia‑induced apoptosis as well as thermotolerance in Tca8113 cells, and furthermore, to investigate the mechanisms of these processes in tumor cells. Activation of PKC‑δ was previously indicated to be involved in the heat sensitivity and thermal resistance of tongue squamous carcinoma cells. Tca8113 cell apoptosis was induced by incubation at 43˚C for 80 min and the thermotolerant Tca8113 cells (TT‑Tca8113) were generated through a gradient temperature‑elevating method.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of the microarc oxidation surface on cell morphology and cytoskeleton.
Methods: Pure titanium with a diameter of 15 mm and a thickness of 1 mm was divided into four groups: grooved surfaces (group G); sandblasted surfaces (group SB); grooved microarc oxidation surfaces (group GMAO); and sandblasted microarc oxidation surfaces (group SBMAO). Osteoblast cells were cultured in each group.

Purpose: To study the effects of composite resin and glass-ionomer cements on cell proliferation and function of human macrophages in vitro.
Methods: Macrophages were differentiated from THP-1 cells after treatment with phorbol ester and used as the model of inflammatory cells, which were treated by specimens from glass-ionomer cements(GC), composite resin Filtek Z350 (3M) and Filtek P60(3M) on culture medium for 24 hours. The cell proliferation of the tooth-colored restorative materials on human macrophages in vitro was evaluated by MTT color imetric assay, and determined for IL-1 content in these material specimens by ELISA.

The aim of the present study was to explore protein expression profiles during cancer cell apoptosis induced by hyperthermia. A hyperthermia-induced apoptosis model was established using a Tca8113 cell line derived from a human tongue squamous cell carcinoma, which underwent fluorescent differential display two-dimensional (2D) gel electrophoresis at 2, 6, 8, 12 and 24 h following the induction of hyperthermia. Proteins were identified by mass spectrometry analysis.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to demonstrate a novel technique of a platysma muscle flap following superficial parotidectomy and to evaluate the impact of using this flap on Frey's syndrome and postoperative appearance.
Methods: In this retrospective study, there were 55 patients who had had superficial parotid gland tumors removed, 28 patients were restored by the platysma muscle flap, and the remaining 27 patients were not restored by the technique. The area of the flap was measured using Image-Pro plus 6.

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the added value of preoperative computerized tomographic angiography (CTA) and three-dimensional reconstruction of the lower limb in vascularized fibular flap transfer.
Methods: Eighteen patients who underwent mandibular or maxillary reconstruction with a vascularized fibular flap were studied retrospectively by image analysis. The original DICOM data of preoperative CTA were analysed and applied to the reconstruction of the lower limb using SimPlant Pro software (version 11.
