Successful regenerative medicine strategies of xenogeneic extracellular matrix need a synergistic balance among inflammation, fibrosis, and remodeling process. Adaptive macrophage subsets have been identified to modulate inflammation and orchestrate the repair of neighboring parenchymal tissues. This study fabricated PPARγ-primed CD68CD206 M2 phenotype (M2γ), and firstly verified their anti-inflammatory and tissue-regenerating roles in xenogeneic bioengineered organ regeneration.

Adequate bone volume is the primary condition for successful dental implants. However, sufficient bone volume is often encountered in the vertical direction, but the bone volume in the buccolingual direction is insufficient, making it less suitable to be implanted. If the traditional spitting technique is used in the mandible, fracture and necrosis can easily occur in the labial (buccal) bone plate due to the absence of elasticity, thick cortical bone, poor blood supply, and anastomotic branch.

Head and neck cancer is the sixth most common malignancy around the world, and 90% of cases are squamous cell carcinomas. In this study, we performed a systematic investigation of the immunogenomic landscape to identify prognostic biomarkers for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). We analyzed the expression profiles of immune-related genes (IRGs) and clinical characteristics by interrogating RNA-seq data from 527 HNSCC patients in the cancer genome atlas (TCGA) dataset, including 41 HPV+ and 486 HPV- samples.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the most common malignant tumour in the oral and maxillofacial region. Numerous cancers share ten common traits ("hallmarks") that govern the transformation of normal cells into cancer cells. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are important factors that contribute to tumorigenesis.

Yunnan Baiyao (YNBY) has been refined for hundreds of years and has become a treasure of proprietary Chinese medicine that has significant curative effects in the field of hemostasis, blood circulation, and callus. In past years, YNBY has been demonstrated to play an anti-inflammatory role in bone-related diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis. However, the osteoclasts are multinucleated giant cells that resorb bone and participate in the occurrence, development, and progression of these bone-related diseases.

The present study investigated the antiapoptotic and antigenotoxic capabilities of N-acetyl cysteine- (NAC-) containing polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) resin. An Transwell insert model was used to mimic the clinical provisional restorations placed on vital teeth. Various parameters associated with cell apoptosis and genotoxicity were investigated to obtain a deeper insight into the underlying mechanisms.

Tongue squamous cell carcinoma is the most common malignant tumor in oral and maxillofacial regions. Recent research has found that artemether can inhibit growth and induce apoptosis of cancer cells, although the mechanism is not clear. The present study aimed to explore the correlation between the HSP90/Akt pathway and artemether-induced apoptosis of Cal27 cells.

Objective: Periodontal tissue engineering is an attractive approach for restoring periodontal-supporting structures and functions. However, complete periodontal regeneration has not been accomplished. Previous studies demonstrated the feasibility of using cell sheets and treated dentin matrix (TDM) to regenerate bio-roots.

Dental resin monomers such as 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) disturb vital cell functions and induce mitochondrial intrinsic apoptosis via generation of oxidative stress. Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) regulates the gene expression of antioxidative enzymes and plays a crucial role in the maintenance of cellular redox equilibrium and mitochondrial homeostasis. The present study investigated the functional significance of Nrf2 in cellular response toward HEMA.

Extracellular matrix (ECM)-based biomaterials developed from mammalian tissues have been successfully used in preclinical and clinical tissue engineering applications. We have previously reported about the applicability of dentin-based scaffold, treated dentin matrix (TDM), for tooth root regeneration. However, TDM protein composition has not been characterized.

Objective: The accuracy of the occlusion vertical dimensions of edentulous Han patients from Yunnan province was compared and analyzed on the basis of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT)-synthesized cephalograms, closest speaking space method, and interocclusal distance.
Methods: A database correlating the CBCT head lateral images of Han patients from Yunnan province with normal occlusal conditions was first constructed. Then, five edentulous Han patients aged 63-78 years old from Yunnan Province were selected.
Background: Dental caries is still considered a major public health concern for human beings, especially minority groups and those living in disadvantaged communities. The Lisu is a minority group in China of more than 702,000 people located primarily in Yunnan Province. The present study was aimed at studying the status of dental caries status, as well as its risk factors, among Lisu children aged 5 years in Yunnan Province, China.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the oral health among the elderly in Southwest China and to analyze the correlation between common oral diseases and quality of life (QOL) in the same population, thus providing recommendations to improve their oral health and life quality.Elderly people (>60 years' old) were randomly recruited into our study, and we performed oral health examinations and diagnoses, using the Community Periodontal Index (CPI) to assess the periodontal condition, and Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14) to score life quality associated with oral health. Then we analyzed correlations between oral health and QOL as well as body mass index (BMI).

This research aimed to analyze the effect of IFITM1 on the radioresistance of oral neoplasm. Using a multi-group heat map from GSE9716 analysis of the GEO database, IFITM1 was determined to be a relevant radioresistance gene. The TCGA database was analyzed before the expression of IFITM1 was analyzed.

The present study aimed to assess the induction of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), invasion, and metastasis by the chemokine CXCL9/receptor CXCR3 axis in tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC), unveiling the underlying mechanisms and providing new insights into the prevention and treatment of oral cancer metastasis. The expression levels of CXCL9 and CXCR3 in TSCC tissue specimens were determined by immunohistochemistry, assessing differences between samples with cervical lymph node metastasis and those without. Moreover, protein expression or activity in the TSCC Cal-27 cell line was controlled by neutralizing antibodies, gene transfection, or knock-out.

Quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs) have been used widely in medicine, owing to their antimicrobial properties. They also have strong permeability, stable performance, low skin irritation, low toxicity, low corrosion, lasting biological effects and so on, comparing with other antimicrobial agents. At the end of last century, polymerizable quaternary ammonium antimicrobial monomers had been synthesized and applied in dentistry, in order to reduce or prevent microbial biofilm formation on dental materials surfaces.
