Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with a normal karyotype (CN-AML) constitutes approximately 50% of all AML cases, presenting significant prognostic variability, and highlighting the urgent need for the identification of novel molecular biomarkers. In this study, we systematically assessed GPR183 expression levels using qRT-PCR in our clinical follow-up study which included 283 CN-AML patients. Using Kaplan-Meier analysis, we found that patients with high GPR183 expression levels exhibited significantly worse overall survival (OS) (P = 0.

Purpose: Intrinsic capacity (IC), a crucial indicator for the United Nations Decade of Healthy Ageing 2021-2030, is defined by WHO as the foundation of functional ability, representing the composite of all physical and mental capacities of an individual. IC spans five function domains: Locomotor, psychological, cognitive, vitality, and sensory (including vision and hearing). Accurate IC assessment is vital for effective interventions, yet comparative analyses of these tools are scarce.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the associations between multidimensional sleep features and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
Methods: We conducted a systematic search across the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Scopus databases for observational studies examining the association between nighttime sleep duration, nighttime sleep quality, sleep chronotype, and daytime napping with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), up to October 1, 2024. If < 50%, a combined analysis was performed based on a fixed-effects model, and vice versa, using a random-effects model.

Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) infection can cause ophthalmic diseases in immunocompetent patients, recipients of bone marrow transplants, and patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). This study describes the case of a healthy 37-year-old male who presented with unilateral anterior uveitis (AU), significant anterior chamber exudation, pupillary membrane closure, increased intraocular pressure, and eyelid edema. Notably, HHV-6A was the only pathogenic agent identified in the blood and aqueous humor.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) are a serious global public health problem. The aim of this study was to analyze the key molecular pathological mechanisms that occur in early AD progression as well as MCI. Expression profiling data from brain homogenates of 8 normal volunteers, and 6 patients with prodromal AD who had developed MCI were analyzed, and the data were obtained from GSE12685.

Objectives: To analyze the influence of daily activity-related factors associated with COVID-19 infection on the occurrence of acute angle closure (AAC).
Methods: A multicenter hospital-based study was conducted at 23 ophthalmic centers in 17 provincial-level regions across China to recruit patients with confirmed AAC during the post-lockdown time of COVID-19 (P-TOC) from Dec 7, 2022, to Jan 17, 2023, and three lockdown time of COVID-19 (TOC) periods, which included the TOC-2022 (Sep 7, 2022 - Dec 6, 2022), TOC-2021(Sep 7, 2021 - Jan 6, 2022) and TOC-2020 (Sep 7, 2020 - Jan 6, 2021). Patient information, including demographic, a questionnaire on daily activity changes during the AAC period, COVID-19 history, and eye examination results, was collected.

This review provides an in-depth summary of the development of anti-cancer drugs for tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), with a particular focus on the development and tissue specialization of macrophages, and factors influencing the polarization of M1 and M2 macrophages, and mechanistic insights underlying the targeting therapeutic approaches. TAMs, pivotal in the tumor microenvironment, exhibit notable plasticity and diverse functional roles. Influenced by the complex milieu, TAMs polarize into M1-type, which suppresses tumors, and M2-type, which promotes metastasis.

Background: Developing proficiency in ultrasound-guided nerve block (UGNB) demands an intricate understanding of cross-sectional anatomy as well as spatial reasoning, which is a big challenge for beginners. The aim of this pilot study was to evaluate the feasibility of virtual reality (VR)-facilitated anatomy education in the first performance of ultrasound-guided interscalene brachial plexus blockade among novice anesthesiologists. We carried out pilot testing of this hypothesis using a prospective, single blind, randomized controlled trial.

Background: Early recurrence in patients with locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC) portends aggressive biological characteristics and a dismal prognosis. Prediction of early recurrence may help determine treatment strategies for LAGC. To develop a deep learning model for early recurrence prediction (DLER) based on preoperative multiphase computed tomography (CT) images and further explore the underlying biological basis of the proposed model.

Objective: To summarize the clinicopathological characteristics and prognostic factors of papillary renal cell carcinoma (pRCC) and to construct clinical and molecular prognostic nomograms using existing databases.
Methods: Clinical prognostic models were developed using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, while molecular prognostic models were constructed using The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Cox regression and LASSO regression were employed to identify clinicopathological features and molecular markers related to prognosis.

To study the effects and mechanisms of activation of human lung fibroblasts (MRC-5) by exosomal RNA hsa _ circ _ 0006357 (circEZH2) derived from non-small cell lung cancer. Western blot was used to detect exosome molecular markers, reverse transcription-quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and cell invasion assays to detect the effect of non-small cell lung cancer-derived exosomes on MRC-5 activation. A circRNA microarray analysis was performed in serum exosomes from patients with non-small cell lung cancer (collected at Ningbo University People's Hospital, September 2023), and levels of circEZH2 were measured in serum exosomes from non-small cell lung cancer by RT-qPCR analysis.

Descurainia sophia, as an an ethno-medicinal plant, contains antioxidant compounds that safeguard cellular integrity against various forms of damage and may play a role in cancer prevention. Antioxidant compounds present in this plant facilitate the body's production of new cells and diminish the risk of colon cancer. In recent years, silver nanoparticles synthesized through green methods using ethnomedicinal herbs have been employed in cancers treatment.

Primary liver cancer (PLC), which includes hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA), remains a leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Chronic liver diseases, such as hepatitis B and C infections and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), are key risk factors for PLC. Metabolic reprogramming, a defining feature of cancer, enables liver cancer cells to adapt to the demands of rapid proliferation and the challenging tumor microenvironment (TME).

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the association between depressive symptoms and pregnancy losses, as well as the moderating effects of demographic variables, including age, income level and ethnicity.
Methods: Depressive symptoms were assessed using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) questionnaire, with key variables such as "loss of interest," "feeling down," and "sleep disturbances." Weighted linear regression models evaluated the relationship between depressive symptoms and pregnancy losses, while interaction analyses explored the moderating effects of demographic factors.
