BACKGROUND Siewert type II adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction is located at the boundary of the distal esophagus and gastric cardia, and surgical resection is currently performed using open or laparoscopic methods. This report presents 2 cases of laparoscopic resection of Siewert type II adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction using a transhiatal approach, complicated by hemopericardium. CASE REPORT We present 2 patients diagnosed with Siewert type II esophagogastric junction cancer.

Background: Anastomotic leakage following a radical gastrectomy is a serious complication of gastric cancer and esophagogastric junction cancer. The benefit of intraoperative leak testing for the prevention of postoperative anastomotic leakage has been controversial. We introduce a new procedure, which combines the techniques of gastroscopy, air, and methylene blue (GAM) for intraoperative leakage testing.

Background: The effectiveness and safety of laparoscopic adrenalectomy (LA) under different routes for the treatment of large pheochromocytomas (PCCs) is unknown.

Materials And Methods: This meta-analysis and systematic review was performed according to PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) and AMSTAR (Assessing the methodological quality of systematic reviews) Guidelines. Three databases were systematically searched, including Medline, PubMed, and Web of Science.

Background: Anastomosis-related complications such as bleeding, leakage, and strictures, continue to be serious complications of gastric cancer surgery. Presently, these complications have yet to be reliably prevented. Here we design a comprehensive leak testing procedure which combines gastroscopy, air, and methylene blue (GAM) leak testing.

Objective: To compare the return to work (RTW) time between single-port laparoscopic surgery (SPLS) and multiport laparoscopic surgery (MPLS) for benign ovarian tumors.

Methods: A cross-sectional cohort study was conducted, which consisted of 335 women of reproductive age with benign ovarian tumors and who were keen on returning to work as early as possible. Surgical outcomes, postoperative pain score, postoperative satisfaction with the cosmesis score (CS), and the RTW time of the SPLS group were compared with those of the MPLS group.

Objective: Acoustic neuroma (AN) is a common benign tumor. Little is known of neuropsychological studies in patients with acoustic neuroma, especially cognitive neuropsychology, and the neuropsychological abnormalities of patients affect their life quality. The purpose of this study was to explore the changes in the cognitive function of patients with acoustic neuroma, and the possible mechanism of these changes by structural magnetic resonance imaging.

Molecular chaperones and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been confirmed to be closely related to the occurrence and development of tumors, especially lung cancer. Our study aimed to construct a kind of molecular chaperone-related long non-coding RNAs (MCRLncs) marker to accurately predict the prognosis of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) patients and find new immunotherapy targets. In this study, we acquired molecular chaperone genes from two databases, Genecards and molecular signatures database (MsigDB).

Multimodal ultrasound fusion network for differentiating between benign and malignant solid renal tumors.

Front Mol Biosci

September 2022

National-Regional Key Technology Engineering Laboratory for Medical Ultrasound, School of Biomedical Engineering, Health Science Center, Shenzhen University, Shenzhen, China.

We aim to establish a deep learning model called multimodal ultrasound fusion network (MUF-Net) based on gray-scale and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) images for classifying benign and malignant solid renal tumors automatically and to compare the model's performance with the assessments by radiologists with different levels of experience. A retrospective study included the CEUS videos of 181 patients with solid renal tumors (81 benign and 100 malignant tumors) from June 2012 to June 2021. A total of 9794 B-mode and CEUS-mode images were cropped from the CEUS videos.
