Background: Multiple myeloma is a clonal disorder of malignant plasma cells that comprises approximately 10% of hematologic malignancies. The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and toxicity of carfilzomib- or bortezomib-based regimens for treatment of transplant-ineligible patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma by performing a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs).

Methods: Data mining was conducted in March 2022 across PubMed, EMBASE and ClinicalTrials.

Glioblastoma is a common central nervous system tumor and despite considerable advancements in treatment patient prognosis remains poor. Angiogenesis is a significant prognostic factor in glioblastoma, anti‑angiogenic treatments represent a promising therapeutic approach. Vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA) is a predominant regulator of angiogenesis and mounting evidence suggests that the Wnt signaling pathway serves a significant role in tumor angiogenesis.

Article Synopsis
  • Ischemic stroke is a major global health issue that can lead to visual impairment, significantly affecting patients' quality of life, particularly when there is also reduced blood flow to the eyes (retinal ischemia).
  • Diabetes raises the risk of ischemic stroke and can worsen retinal damage, but the specific mechanisms behind stroke-related retinal injury in diabetic patients are still unclear.
  • In a study using a diabetic mouse model, isoflurane was found to protect against stroke-induced retinal damage by inhibiting the NLRP3 inflammasome, suggesting it could be an effective treatment to preserve vision in diabetic stroke patients.

HOXC10 plays a critical role in many cellular processes, such as proliferation, migration, and invasion, but the function of HOXC10 in gastric carcinoma is not clear. In this study, we aimed to investigate the expression profile of HOXC10 and its role in gastric carcinoma cells and in vivo experiments. HOXC10 expression patterns were detected in clinical samples and gastric cancer cells lines by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction assays, and then, we focused on its role in regulating cell proliferation, cell cycle, migration, and invasion after transfection of silencing and overexpression plasmids in vitro and in vivo.
