The mechanism(s) underlying the protective role of macrophage Tim-3 in intestinal inflammation is unclear; thus, we investigated whether specific Tim-3 knockdown in macrophages drives intestinal inflammation via necroptosis.

It has been proved that purine metabolites are implicated in various biological syndromes and disorders. Therefore, the realization of panoramic detection of purine metabolites will be of great significance to the pathogenesis of purine metabolic disorders. In the present study, an ultra-high performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry method was developed for the comprehensive quantification of purine metabolites in rat plasma.

Chronic heart failure after myocardial infarction was established by coronary artery ligation. Heart failure rats were randomly divided into three groups: Model group ( = 11), Linggui Zhugan Decoction group ( = 12), and captopril group ( = 11).

Effects of atropine and tropicamide on ocular biological parameters in children: a prospective observational study.

Background: The effectiveness of cycloplegia in delaying the progression of myopia and its application in refractive examination in children have been extensively studied, but there are still few studies on the effects of atropine/tropicamide on ocular biological parameters. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to explore the effects of atropine/tropicamide on children's ocular biological parameters in different age groups and the differences between them.

Methods: This was a prospective observational study in which all school children were examined for dioptres and ocular biological parameters in the outpatient clinic, and 1% atropine or tropicamide was used for treatment.

Methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase 2 (MTHFD2) has been implicated in the etiology of various human malignant tumors; however, its exact role in bladder cancer (BC) remains to be explored. Through reverse transcription‑quantitative PCR, western blotting and immunohistochemistry detection of BC tissue, combined with The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database analysis, the present study demonstrated that MTHFD2 was upregulated in BC tissues. MTHFD2 expression in patients with BC was frequently associated with worse prognosis, tumor immune cell infiltration and programmed death‑ligand 1 (PD‑L1) expression.

The effects of cycloplegia on ocular biological parameters in children have been extensively studied, but few studies have compared these parameters between different refractive states, ages, and sexes. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in ocular biometry before and after cycloplegia in different groups based on dioptre, age and sex. We examined a total of 2049 participants in this cross-sectional study.

We recruited 44 subjects to explore kinematic alterations from an unloaded state to 60% bodyweight (BW) load carriage.

Objective: To uncover the potential effect of metformin on proliferation and apoptosis of thyroid cancer TPC-1 cell line, and the underlying mechanism.

Methods: Viability, apoptosis and LRP2 level in TPC-1 cells treated with different doses of metformin for different time points were determined. Besides, protein levels of p-JNK1 and c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNK) in metformin-treated TPC-1 cells were detected by Western blot.
