Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the role of miR-483-5p in regulating the overexpression of IGF2 and H19, which are linked to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
  • miR-483-5p enhances IGF2 and H19 expression by binding to their enhancer, activating transcription, and promoting new interactions between the enhancer and gene promoters through chromatin loops.
  • The research highlights that MED1 is crucial in this process, influencing both chromatin structure and the aggressive behavior of HCC cells, indicating potential targets for therapeutic interventions.

Rationale: Enteral nutrition is a critical component of care for critically ill patients. However, the blind insertion of a nasoenteric tube, despite being a simple procedure, carries inherent risks that necessitate a reevaluation of the technique.

Patient Concerns: A case of a 60-year-old female experienced the rare yet critical complication of a misplaced nasoenteric tube entering the thoracic cavity during a blind insertion procedure for enteral nutrition following a liver transplant.

This study explored the effect of symptom-based individualized nutritional intervention on chemotherapy tolerance and quality of life (QOL) in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) undergoing postoperative chemotherapy. Postoperative patients with CRC ( = 88) were randomly assigned to the control group (CG,  = 45) and intervention group (IG,  = 43) receiving conventional diet counseling and symptom-based individualized nutritional intervention, respectively, and chemotherapy tolerance, adverse effects, and QOL were compared. Participants in the IG exhibited better nutritional status at the last chemotherapy cycle, with lower Nutrition Risk Screening 2002 (2.

As one of the most commonly used general anesthetics (GAs) in surgery, numerous studies have demonstrated the detrimental effects of sevoflurane exposure on myelination in the developing and elderly brain. However, the impact of sevoflurane exposure on intact myelin structure in the adult brain is barely discovered. Here, we show that repeated sevoflurane exposure, but not single exposure, causes hypomyelination and abnormal ultrastructure of myelin sheath in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) of adult male mice, which is considered as a critical brain region for general anesthesia mediated consciousness change.

This study aimed to explore PTPN2 expression levels in Hypopharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HPSCC) tissues and their relationship with the clinical characteristics and prognosis of HPSCC patients. PTPN2, a protein tyrosine phosphatase, has recently emerged as a promising target for cancer immunotherapy, and in many previous studies, PTPN2 may have a significant role in the growth, differentiation, metabolism and immune response of head and neck malignant tumors. In this study, PTPN2 expression in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HNSCC) and other cancer tissues was analyzed using datasets derived from the Sangerbox database.

Background: Osimertinib has emerged as a critical element in the treatment landscape following recent clinical trials. Further investigation into the mechanisms driving resistance to Osimertinib is necessary to address the restricted treatment options and survival advantages that are compromised by resistance in patients with EGFR-mutated lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD).

Methods: Spatial transcriptomic and proteomic analyses were utilized to investigate the mechanisms of Osimertinib resistance.

IGF2-IGF1R signaling inhibition delays the growth of IGF2-high colorectal cancer by modulating MDSCs.

Biochem Biophys Res Commun

December 2024

Institute of Cancer, Xinqiao Hospital, Third Military Medical University, Chongqing, 400037, China; Department of Oncology, PLA Rocket Force Characteristic Medical Center, Beijing, 100088, China. Electronic address:

Approximately 22 % of human colorectal cancers (CRC) are characterized by IGF2 overexpression, and the tumor-promoting role of IGF2 has been widely reported. Despite promising preclinical results, IGF2 signaling inhibition therapy has exhibited limited efficacy in treating unselected patients with CRC. Recent evidence suggests that IGF2-high CRC are more sensitive to IGF2 signaling blockade therapy in immune-deficient mice, suggesting that IGF2-high CRC can benefit from IGF2 signaling blockade therapy.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a central nervous system degenerative disease with a stealthy onset and a progressive course characterized by memory loss, cognitive dysfunction, and abnormal psychological and behavioral symptoms. However, the pathogenesis of AD remains elusive. An increasing number of studies have shown that oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) and oligodendroglial lineage cells (OLGs), especially OPCs and mature oligodendrocytes (OLGs), which are derived from OPCs, play important roles in the pathogenesis of AD.

Reconstruction of the Superior Capsule Using Peroneus Longus Tendon Graft Combined With Transposition of Biceps Tendon for Irreparable Massive Rotator Cuff Tears.

Am J Sports Med

January 2025

Sports Medicine Center, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery/Orthopaedic Research Institute, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

Background: Traditional superior capsular reconstruction (SCR) with biceps tendon transposition (TB) alone for irreparable massive rotator cuff tears (IMRCTs) has demonstrated a high retear rate, highlighting the need for alternative approaches. Therefore, SCR using a peroneus longus tendon graft (PLG) combined with TB (PLG-TB) should be clinically studied.

Purpose: To compare the clinical and radiological outcomes of SCR using the PLG-TB technique versus the TB technique alone for IMRCT.

College of pharmacy, Xinxiang Medical University, 453003, Xinxiang, PR China; Pingyuan Laboratory, 453007, Xinxiang, Henan, PR China. Electronic address:

Effective delivery of sufficient doxorubicin (DOX) molecules in tumors is hindered by the complex biological barriers. Herein, a DOX-loaded sodium alginate-based injectable hydrogel (DOX@MHB-conj-SA) was designed by the Michael addition reactions between the sulfydryl in cross-linkers and the double bonds in a derivative of sodium alginate. The DOX@MHB-conj-SA was administrated to CT26 tumor-bearing mice via peritumoral injection for locoregional treatment of colorectal cancer by inducing apoptosis and pyroptosis.

Hidradenocarcinoma (HAC) is a rare neoplasm that typically occurs in the head and neck region but seldom affects the chest wall. Histopathology and immunohistochemistry remain essential for diagnosing HAC, although their clinical utility in determining metastasis can be limited. Given the pathological rarity and histopathological heterogeneity of HAC, we report a case demonstrating the utility of positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) combined with immunohistochemical examination for the accurate diagnosis and staging of HAC.
