Polyhalogenated carbazoles (PHCZs) have been widely accepted as emerging pollutants, whereas their ecological and health risks remain uncertain. Herein, female and male Sprague-Dawley (SD) mice were treated with four typical PHCZs to investigate their negative consequences, along with alternations in gut microbiota to indicate underlying mechanisms. In female mice, the relative liver weight ratio increased after four PHCZs exposure; 2-bromocarbazole (2-BCZ) increased urine glucose level; 3-bromocarbazole (3-BCZ) decreased the glucose and total cholesterol levels; 3,6-dichlorocarbazole (3,6-DCCZ) decreased glucose level.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the contribution of body composition including skeletal muscle mass (SMM) and body fat mass (BFM) to longitudinal growth among children and adolescents aged 6-11 years old.
Methods: This cohort study was conducted from the annual health examination between 2019 and 2020. Annual height gain and weight gain and changes in SMM and BFM were calculated and compared between sexes, different nutritional status, and growth curve shifting mode.

Purpose: This study was to explore the biological roles and underlying mechanism of circRNA WD repeat domain 27 (circWDR27).
Methods: The expression of circWDR27, microRNA-215-5p (miR-215-5p) and tripartite motif containing 44 (TRIM44) were measured by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) and colony formation assays were employed to detect cell proliferation.

Background: We aimed to study the incidence rate of hypoparathyroidism, its risk factors, and identify its predictive factors among patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) who had undergone total or near-total thyroidectomy and central neck dissection (CND).
Methods: Ninety-three PTC patients who had undergone total or near-total thyroidectomy and CND were analyzed for hypoparathyroidism. The association between clinicopathological factors and hypoparathyroidism was tested by χ test and multivariate logistic regression.

Rationale: Though it is rare, isolated interrupted aortic arch (IAA) could lead to hypertension. Surgical repair is the only effective curative method to treat IAA conditions and patients with IAA can hardly survive to adulthood with medication alone. We report an IAA case that of a 45-year-old male patient who survived for 45 years without surgical treatment.
