With the proposal of the "biological-psychological-social" model, clinical decision-makers and researchers have paid more attention to the bidirectional interactive effects between psychological factors and diseases. The brain-gut-microbiota axis, as an important pathway for communication between the brain and the gut, plays an important role in the occurrence and development of inflammatory bowel disease. This article reviews the mechanism by which psychological disorders mediate inflammatory bowel disease by affecting the brain-gut-microbiota axis.

Background: Addressing segmental bone defects remains a complex task in orthopedics, and recent advancements have led to the development of novel drugs to enhance the bone regeneration. However, long-term oral administration can lead to malnutrition and poor patient compliance. Scaffolds loaded with medication are extensively employed to facilitate the restoration of bone defects.

Article Synopsis
  • * The analysis included 20 trials, revealing that TNF-alpha inhibitors raised high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels, especially noticeable in early treatment (≤3 months) and with the drug etanercept.
  • * Conversely, triglyceride levels fluctuated—rising notably after 3 to 6 months of treatment but decreasing after more than 6 months, highlighting the need for further long-term studies.

Background: In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory, cold dampness obstruction is one of the common syndromes of osteoarthritis. Therefore, in clinical practice, the main treatment methods are to dispel wind, remove dampness, and dissipate cold, used to treat knee osteoarthritis (KOA). This report describes a mulitercenter clinical study to assess Zhuifeng Tougu Capsule's efficacy and safety in the treatment of patients who are cold dampness obstruction syndrome in KOA, and to provide evidence-based medical for the rational use of Zhuifeng Tougu Capsules in clinical practice.

Introduction: Acupuncture is widely utilized as a beneficial intervention for the treatment of motor dysfunction after stroke, and its effectiveness depends on the stimulation dose. Manipulation time is an important factor affecting the dose. This trial aimed use fMRI to explore the immediate neural effects in stroke patients with motor dysfunction by different acupuncture manipulation times, to reveal the neural mechanism of acupuncture manipulation.

To establish an objective and comprehensive methodology to analyse the connections and differences between horned gallnut (HG) and bellied gallnut (BG) in Galla Chinensis (GC). The HPLC fingerprints from 15 batches of HG and 15 batches of BG were performed, and chemometric analysis including similarity analysis (SA), hierarchical clustering analysis (HCA), principal component analysis (PCA), and orthogonal partial least squares discrimination analysis (OPLS-DA) was also set up. The results showed that the similarity of all batch samples was more than 0.

The imbalance of bone homeostasis has become a major public medical problem amid the background of an aging population, which is closely related to the occurrence of osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and fractures. Presently, most drugs used in the clinical treatment of bone homeostasis imbalance are bisphosphonates, calcitonin, estrogen receptor modulators, and biological agents that inhibit bone resorption or parathyroid hormone analogs that promote bone formation. However, there are many adverse reactions.
