Background And Objective: Common bile duct (CBD) stones are common in patients even after cholecystectomy. Besides endoscopic retrograde cholangiography (ERCP), laparoscopic common bile duct exploration (LCBDE) is also applied. This study aims to compare clinical indications, therapeutic benefits and complications for these two managements.

Objective: To investigate the effect of P2X7R antagonist brilliant blue G (BBG) on aGVDH of mice after allo-HSCT.

Methods: aGVHD mouse model after HSCT was established and treated with the P2X7R antagonist BBG of different dosages (50 mg/kg and 75 mg/kg). After treatment, the survival, body weight, pathological and liver function of aGVDH mice were abserved, and the expression levels of P2X7, NLRP3, caspase-1, IL-1β, IL-18 mRNA and protein were evaluated by real-time PCR and Western blot.

Background: The effects of BDNF on post stroke depression (PSD) may be influenced by genetic variations in intracellular signal transduction pathways, such as the p11/tPA/BDNF pathway. In this study, we aimed to determine the association of polymorphisms in candidate genes of the gene transduction pathway with PSD, as well as the effects of the interactions between genes in our Chinese sample.

Methods: Two-hundred-fifty-four Chinese samples with acute ischaemic stroke included 122 PSD patients and 132 nonPSD patients.

β-transducin repeat-containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase (β-TrCP) serves as the substrate recognition subunit for the Skp1-Cullin1-F-box protein E3 ubiquitin ligase, which recognizes the double phosphorylated DSG (X)S destruction motif in various substrates that are essential for numerous aspects of tumorigenesis and regulates several important signaling pathways. However, the biological significance of β-TrCP in glioma progression remains largely unknown. A previous study by the authors demonstrated that the levels of β-TrCP protein expression in brain glioma tissues were significantly lower compared with non-tumorous tissues and that higher grades of gliomas exhibited lower levels of β-TrCP expression in comparison with lower glioma grades.

Trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome) is the third most common autosomal trisomy with a prevalence between 1 in 10,000 - 20,000 live births. Robertsonian translocations represent the largest number of chromosomal aberrations in human population with an incidence of 1.23 in 1000 live birth and translocation 13;14 is one of the most frequent Robertsonian translocations (approximately 75%).

The protein and mRNA expression levels of glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor in post stroke depression and major depressive disorder.

Sci Rep

August 2017

Department of Psychosomatics and Psychiatry, ZhongDa Hospital, School of Medicine, Institute of Psychosomatic Medicine, Southeast University, Nanjing, 210009, P.R. China.

Previous studies have indicated that the level of glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) may be correlated with stroke and depression. Here, we investigated whether GDNF can be a discriminant indicator for post stroke depression (PSD). 159 participants were divided into four groups: PSD, stroke without depression (Non-PSD), major depressive disorder (MDD) and normal control (NC) group, and the protein and mRNA expression levels of GDNF in serum were measured.

We conducted this study to investigate the effects of the combination therapy of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) plus immunoglobulin (IG) on the levels of T helper 17 (Th17) cells and Foxp3 regulatory T cells (Treg) in patients with unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion (URSA). Twenty pregnant women with URSA underwent combination therapy of hCG plus IG. Flow cytometry was performed to measure the proportions of Th17 and Treg cells before and after treatment.

Unlabelled: Cystatin C, cathepsin S, and IL-1 are three important biomarkers of atherosclerosis. Previous studies emphasized the relationship between individual biomarkers in coronary artery disease (CAD) patients and severity of atherosclerostic lesions of the coronary arteries, while combined cystatin C, cathepsin S, and IL-1 have not been reported for clinical classification of CAD. We aimed to establish a link between cystatin C, cathepsin S, IL-1 and CAD in this cohort study.

Background: Autophagy is a metabolic response of cells to chemical and physical factors, such as nutrition or growth factor deprivation, proinflammatory state, hypoxia, accumulation of reactive oxygen species, presence of infectious agents, and DNA damage. Autophagy maintains the homeostasis of intracellular metabolism mainly by degrading cellular organelles and critical proteins. In a sense, autophagy protects cells from death.

Human renal cell carcinoma which is a highly vascular tumor is the leading cause of death from urologic cancers. Angiogenesis has a pivotal role in oncogenesis and in the viability and expansion of renal cell carcinoma. Rap2B, as a small guanosine triphosphate-binding protein of the Ras family, was first discovered in the early 1990s during the screening of a platelet complementary DNA library.

Conformability in everolimus-eluting bioresorbable scaffolds compared with metal platform coronary stents in long lesions.

Int J Cardiovasc Imaging

December 2017

Department of Cardiology, Thorax Centre, Room Ba-585, Erasmus University Medical Centre, 's-Gravendijkwal 230, 3015 GE, Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

The aim of this study was to determine if there are significant differences in curvature of the treated vessel after the deployment of a polymeric BRS or MPS in long lesions. The impact of long polymeric bioresorbable scaffolds (BRS) compared with metallic platform stents (MPS) on vessel curvature is unknown. This retrospective study compares 32 patients who received a single everolimus-eluting BRS with 32 patients treated with a single MPS of 28 mm.

Photodynamic therapy is widely used in the clinical treatment of tumors, especially skin cancers. It has been reported that the photosensitizer curcumin, in combination with ultraviolet radiation B, induces HaCaT cell apoptosis, and this effect may be due to the activation of caspase pathways. In this study, we examined the photodynamic effects of demethoxycurcumin, a more stable analogue of curcumin, to determine whether it could induce apoptosis in skin cancer cells.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of recombinant human adenovirus-p53 (rhAd-p53) combined with neoadjuvant chemotherapy in treatment of locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC). A total of 40 patients with LACC (stage IB2 to IIIA) were randomized into 2 groups (n=20 each): PVB group (cisplatin + vincristine + bleomycin, intravenously) and combined group (rhAd-p53 gene therapy + neoadjuvant chemotherapy). Both groups underwent a course of chemotherapy; the only exception was the injection of the rhAd-p53 solution 1×10 VP intratumorally at an interval of three days thrice in the combined group thereafter.
