To explore the efficacy of vonoprazan fumarate in the treatment of laryngopharyngeal reflux disease(LPRD) evaluated by the Chinese version of the RSS-12 scale. A total of 100 LPRD patients treated in the otolaryngology-head and neck surgery outpatient clinic of our hospital were randomly divided into two groups(50 cases each). The observation group was treated with vonoprazan fumarate(20 mg, once daily), and the control group was treated with esomeprazole enteric-coated capsules(20 mg, twice daily) for 12 weeks.

It is becoming increasingly evident that diabetic vascular complications seriously threaten human health. The most prevalent microvascular complications include kidney disease, retinal disease, cardiovascular diseases and amputation. Conventional treatments can only relieve the progression of the diseases, and is no longer appropriate for the long-term management of diabetic patients.

Department of Biostatistics, School of Public Health, Xuzhou Medical University, Xuzhou, Jiangsu 221004, China; Jiangsu Engineering Research Center of Biological Data Mining and Healthcare Transformation, Xuzhou Medical University, Xuzhou, Jiangsu 221004, China. Electronic address:

Background: The association between co-exposure to multiple air pollutants and the occurrence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) was not well-established, and the mediating role of accelerated aging in this association remained uncertain.

Methods: Using a cohort of 313,908 participants without CKD at baseline from the UK Biobank, we examined the potential association between co-exposure to multiple air pollutants, including PM, PM, PM, NO and NO, and the incidence of CKD by calculating an air pollution score. Mediation analyses were performed to examine the mediating role of accelerated aging (PhenoAgeAccel or KDM-BioAgeAccel) in this association.

The role of cGAS-STING signaling pathway in ferroptosis.

J Adv Res

December 2024

Department of Pathology, Xuzhou Medical University, Xuzhou, China. Electronic address:

The cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS)-stimulator of interferon genes (STING) signaling pathway has been identified as a crucial mechanism in antiviral defense and innate immunity pathway. Ferroptosis, characterized by iron dependence and lipid peroxidation, represents a specialized form of cell death. A burgeoning collection of studies has demonstrated that the cGAS-STING signaling pathway participates in the homeostatic regulation of the organism by modulating ferroptosis-associated enzyme activity or gene expression.

High expression of immune checkpoint molecule B7-H3 (CD276) in many cancer types makes it a promising immunotherapeutic target. Both coinhibitory and costimulatory effects of B7-H3 in tumors have been demonstrated, but the mechanism of B7-H3 immune response under dual effects is open to question. B7-H3 is crucially involved in the migration and invasion, angiogenesis, metabolism and chemotherapy resistance of prostate cancer.

Introduction: The activation of the plasmatic coagulation system is a significant contributor to acute myocardial infarction (AMI). This study aimed to investigate the association between the levels of tissue plasminogen activator-inhibitor complex (t-PAIC), thrombin-antithrombin complex (TAT), plasmin-α2 plasmin-inhibitor complex (PIC), and thrombomodulin (TM) with clinical outcomes in patients with AMI.

Methods: Blood samples were collected from 368 patients presenting with acute myocardial infarction in the emergency department to assess levels of t-PAIC, TAT, PIC, and TM.

Aurora kinase B (AURKB) was reported to assist Aurora kinase A (AURKA) to regulate cellular mitosis. AURKA has been found activated in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) patients with CALR gene mutation, however, it's unclear whether AURKB displays a compensatory function of AURKA in regulation of CALR mutant cell growth and differentiation. Here, we found that AURKB, similar with AURKA, was aberrantly activated in CALR mutant patients, and displayed a more tolerance to the aurora kinase inhibitor.

Background: Cardiac fibrosis, a key contributor to heart failure, is driven by the activation of cardiac fibroblasts (CFs), often induced by angiotensin II (Ang II). Relaxin, a peptide hormone, has been reported to counteract fibrotic processes. This study aims to investigate the antifibrotic effects of relaxin on Ang II-induced CF activation, with a focus on the involvement of the nitric oxide/cyclic guanosine monophosphate (NO/cGMP) signaling pathway.

Baduanjin has been shown to be an effective method of exercise for promoting body function in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, this method is rarely used by rural doctors in rural communities. The aim of this study was to compare the therapeutic effects of Baduanjin exercise with those of conventional pulmonary rehabilitation (CPR) implemented by rural doctors in patients with COPD.

December 2024

The First School of Clinical Medicine, Xuzhou Medical University, Xuzhou, 221004, Jiangsu, China.

Background: ICU-acquired weakness (ICU-AW) is a common complication among ICU patients. We used machine learning techniques to construct an ICU-AW inflammatory factor prediction model to predict the risk of disease development and reduce the incidence of ICU-AW.

Methods: The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) technique was used to screen key variables related to ICU-AW.

Background And Objective: Neuropathic pain, a debilitating condition stemming from nervous system injuries, has profound impacts on quality of life. The medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) plays a crucial role in the modulation of pain perception and emotional response. This study explores the involvement of Slingshot Homolog 1 (SSH1) protein in neuropathic pain and related emotional and cognitive dysfunctions in a mouse model of spared nerve injury (SNI).

Memory impairment in chronic pain patients is substantial and common, and few therapeutic strategies are available. Chronic pain-related memory impairment has susceptible and unsusceptible features. Therefore, exploring the underlying mechanisms of its vulnerability is essential for developing effective treatments.

Background: Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) represents an important treatment option for atrial fibrillation (AF); however, the recurrence rate following surgery is relatively high. This study aimed to predict the recurrence of AF after RFCA using interpretable machine learning models that combined the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and the quantification of left atrial epicardial and pericoronary adipose tissue.

Methods: This retrospective study included 325 patients with AF who underwent their first successful RFCA, among whom 79 had confirmed recurrence.

Department of Pathology, Second Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou 310009, China. Electronic address:

Ovarian cancer is the most common type of gynecological malignant tumor, with the highest mortality rate among female genital malignant tumors. In this study, we initially identified forkhead box F1 (FOXF1) as a potential prognostic biomarker of ovarian cancer through bioinformatics analysis. FOXF1 expression was higher in ovarian cancer tissue samples and served as an unfavorable prognostic factor.

Most of the existing SERS systems failed to achieve satisfactory results in early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease owing to a lack of effective signal transduction. Herein, we developed a dual signal amplification strategy for SERS detection of amyloid-β oligomers based on proximity hybridization-triggered catalyzed hairpin assembly (CHA) and hybridization chain reaction (HCR). In the presence of the target protein and two DNA-labeled antibodies, a proximate complex formed in a homogeneous solution.
