To investigate the intestinal amino acids pathway in depression-like offspring rats induced by maternal separation. Sprague-Dawley (SD) female rats were randomly divided into a control group (=8) and a maternal separation group (=8). After normal delivery, the maternal rats were separated from offsprings for 14 consecutive days and 3 h per day in maternal separation group; while rats in the control group was received no interventions in postpartum.

Our objective was to compare the effectiveness of natural cycles (NC), modified natural cycle (mNC), and artificial cycles (AC) in women undergoing frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) after in vitro fertilization (IVF). This is a retrospective cohort study analyzing 9733 women undergoing the first cycle of FET over a 3-year period (June 2014-December 2017) at Northwest Women's and Children's Hospital after IVF-ICSI cycles. The type of endometrial preparation was determined by the treating physician's preference, based on patients' characteristics.

Asthma is an important global health problem, and the main cause of asthma is allergic reaction and immune system dysregulation. Airway inflammation causes bronchial narrowing, and goblet cell hyperplasia leads to mucus hypersecretion that leads to airflow obstruction and difficulty breathing. The Th2 cytokines can induce allergic asthma.

Objective: Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4α (HNF4A) has been demonstrated to be an oncogene in gastric cancer (GC). However, the roles of different isoforms derived from the 2 different promoters (P1 and P2) and the underlying mechanisms remain obscure.
Methods: The expression and prognostic values of P1- and P2- were evaluated in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) databases and GC tissues.

Objective: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is the second most common liver cancer, characterized by late diagnosis and fatal outcome. Although miR-192-5p has been shown to have a vital role in various cancers, its role in CCA is unknown. Here, we investigated the role of miR-192-5p in CCA cell proliferation and apoptosis, and elucidated its potential mechanism of action.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has already become a pandemic wherein the infection's timely diagnosis has proven beneficial to patient treatment and disease control. Nucleic acid detection has been the primary laboratory diagnostic method for the detection of SARS-CoV-2. To ensure laboratory staff safety and quality nucleic acid testing, the Chinese Society of Laboratory Medicine formulated this consensus, based on the Chinese National Recommendations and previous literature for nucleic acid detection.

Objective: To analyze the differences in reflux patterns in 24-hour esophageal pH-impedance monitoring in patients with non-erosive reflux disease (NERD), reflux hypersensitivity (RH) and functional heartburn (FH) and explore the possible mechanism of symptoms in patients with heartburn and negative endoscopic findings.
Methods: Seventy-nine patients with heartburn as the main symptoms but negative endoscopic findings, including 35 with NERD, 16 with RH and 28 with FH, were enrolled in this study. All the patients underwent 24-h esophageal pH-impedance monitoring and esophagogastroscopy, and the results were compared among the 3 groups.

Objective: To investigate the protective effect of serine hydroxymethyl transferase 2 (SHMT2) against hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury in mice.
Methods: Sixty C57BL/6 mice were divided equally into sham-operated group, saline adeno-associated virus group (AVV-GFP), and adeno-associated virus silencing group (AAV-SHMT2). The adeno-associated virus and normal saline were injected into the tail vein of the mice 2 weeks before establishment of a 70% ischemia-reperfusion model in the liver.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) function as gene expression switches, and participate in diverse pathophysiological processes of spinal cord injury (SCI). Olfactory ensheathing cells (OECs) can alleviate pathological injury and facilitate functional recovery after SCI. However, the mechanisms by which OECs restore function are not well understood.

Neural stem/progenitor cells (NSPCs) persist in the mammalian subventricular zone throughout life, where they can be activated in response to physiological and pathophysiological stimuli. A recent study indicates metabotropic glutamate receptor 4 (mGluR4) is involved in regulating NSPCs behaviors. Therefore, defining mGluR4 function in NSPCs is necessary for determining novel strategies to enhance the intrinsic potential for brain regeneration after injuries.

Aims: Pathogenic variants of the SCN5A gene can cause Brugada syndrome (BrS) and long QT syndrome (LQTS), which predispose individuals to potentially fatal ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. SCN5A encodes the Na 1.5 protein, the pore forming α-subunit of the voltage-dependent cardiac Na channel.

Hydrogen sulfide as the third endogenous gaseous mediator had protective effects against traumatic brain injury-induced neuronal damage in mice. However, the exact pathophysiological mechanism underlying traumatic brain injury is complicated and the protective role of HS is not yet fully known. Therefore, we combined the mechanical injury (scratch) with secondary injury including metabolic impairment (no glucose) together to investigate the underlying cellular mechanism of hydrogen sulfide in vitro models of traumatic brain injury.

Background: The methylation of microRNAs (miRNAs) and DNA play an important role in the development of tumors. MiRNA-34a can inhibit the proliferation and metastasis of osteosarcoma cells. It was approved in a variety of tumors studies that abnormal promoter methylation leads to the reduction of miRNA-34a expression.
