Department of Nursing, Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University, No. 25, Taiping Street, Jiangyang District, Luzhou, Sichuan Province, China.

Article Synopsis
  • The transition from pediatric to adult healthcare for adolescents with HIV in China requires careful planning, and the HIV Adolescent Readiness for Transition Scale (HARTS) aims to fill the gap by assessing readiness across crucial areas.
  • The scale comprises 15 items that predict successful post-transition health outcomes, such as viral suppression, and it has undergone a comprehensive validation process involving translation, expert review, and reliability testing among adolescents.
  • Results show that HARTS has strong reliability and validity in the Chinese context, with an overall Cronbach's alpha value of 0.943, making it a valuable tool for improving healthcare transition strategies for youth living with HIV.

Article Synopsis
  • Carotid artery stenting (CAS) is a treatment for narrowing arteries, but it can have a rare and serious complication called carotid stent thrombosis (CST).
  • A case was studied where a 50-year-old man had CST after getting CAS and had trouble because of blood flow issues caused by a clot.
  • Doctors used special treatments to remove the clot, and after changing his medications, he got better and didn’t have any new problems for over a year.

Background: The combination of immune checkpoint inhibitors with radiotherapy can enhance the immunomodulation by RT and reduce the growth of distant unirradiated tumors (abscopal effect); however, the results are still not very satisfactory. Therefore, new treatment options are needed to enhance this effect. Our previous study showed that the combination of Bifidobacterium (Bi) and its specific monoclonal antibody (mAb) could target and alleviate hypoxia at the tumor site and act as a radiosensitizer.

Electronic address:

Hypothyroidism is associated with elevated levels of serum thyrotropin (TSH), which have been shown to promote abnormal proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells and contribute to the development of atherosclerosis. However, the specific mechanisms underlying the TSH-induced abnormal proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells remain unclear. The objective of this study was to investigate the role of TSH in the progression of atherosclerosis.

Based on network pharmacology and molecular docking, this study seeks to investigate the mechanism of Taohong Siwu decoction (THSWD) in the treatment of avascular necrosis of the femoral head (AVNFH). The Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology database was used in this investigation to obtain the active ingredients and related targets for each pharmaceutical constituent in THSWD. To find disease-related targets, the terms "avascular necrosis of the femoral head," "necrosis of the femoral head," "steroid-induced necrosis of the femoral head," "osteonecrosis," and "avascular necrosis of the bone" were searched in the databases DisGeNET, GeneCards, Comparative Toxicogenomics Database, and MalaCards.

Osteoporosis is a prevalent age-related disease that poses a significant public health concern as the population continues to age. While current treatments have shown some therapeutic benefits, their long-term clinical efficacy is limited by a lack of stable curative effects and significant adverse effects. Traditional Chinese Medicine has gained attention due to its positive curative effects and fewer side effects.

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) develops from the mucosal epithelium of the oral cavity, pharynx, and larynx, and is the most common malignancy of the head and neck, the incidence of which continues to rise. The epidermal growth factor receptor is thought to play a key role in the pathogenesis of HNSCC. Inhibition of epidermal growth factor receptor has been identified as an effective target for the treatment of HNSCC.

Purpose: Chemokine ligand 5 (CCL5), a vital member of the CC chemokine family, plays diverse roles in tumorigenesis, metastasis, and prognosis in various human tumors. However, no pan-cancer analysis has been conducted to illustrate its distinctive effects on clinical prognosis via underlying mechanisms and biological characteristics.

Methods: Herein, we exploited the existed public bioinformatics database, primarily TCGA database and GTEx data, to comprehensively analyze the value of CCL5 involved in patient prognosis.

Background: Obesity is a state in which excess heat is converted into excess fat, which accumulates in the body and may cause damage to multiple organs of the circulatory, endocrine, and digestive systems. Studies have shown that the accumulation of abdominal fat and mesenteric fat hypertrophy in patients with obesity makes laparoscopic surgery highly difficult, which is not conducive to operation and affects patient prognosis. However, there is still controversy regarding these conclusions.

Background: In mouse, it was discovered that resveratrol (Res) enhanced osteoporosis (OP) by boosting osteogenesis. Besides, Res can also have an impact on MC3T3-E1 cells, which are crucial for the control of osteogenesis and thus increase osteogenesis. Although some articles have discovered that Res enhanced autophagy to promote the value-added differentiation of MC3T3, it is unclear exactly how this affects the process of osteogenesis in mouse.

Endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) is the recommended option for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO) that within 6 h onset of stroke. The EVT treatment time window has been extended to 24 h in carefully selected patients by DAWN trial. Recent evidences indicated that some patients presented beyond 24 h still potentially benefit from EVT treatment.

Background: The aim of this study is to investigate the association between intravenous tirofiban and symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (SICH) in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) secondary to large vessel occlusion (LVO) receiving endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) within 24 h of time last known well (LKW).

Methods: Patients with AIS-LVO who were randomly assigned to receive intravenous tirofiban or placebo before EVT within 24 h of time LKW and had follow-up brain non-contrast computed tomography within 24 h after stopping tirofiban treatment were derived from "RESCUE BT": a multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial. All eligible patients were divided into SICH and NO-SICH groups.
