: The application of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) NK cells in solid tumors is hindered by lack of tumor-specific targets and inefficient CAR-NK cell efficacy. Claudin-6 (CLDN6) has been reported to be overexpressed in ovarian cancer and may be an attractive target for CAR-NK cells immunotherapy. However, the feasibility of using anti-CLDN6 CAR-NK cells to treat ovarian cancer remains to be explored.

The complex immunosuppressive tumour microenvironment (TME) and lack of tumour-specific targets hinder the application of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells in the treatment of solid tumours. Combining local treatment with CAR T cell immunotherapy may regulate the TME and enhance the killing potency of CAR T cells in solid tumours. Here, we show that AXL, which is highly expressed in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) but not in normal tissues, might be a target for CAR T cell therapy.

IL-7 and CCL19-secreting CAR-T cell therapy for tumors with positive glypican-3 or mesothelin.

Although chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-engineered T cells have shown great success in the treatment of B cell malignancies, this strategy has limited efficacy in patients with solid tumors. In mouse CAR-T cells, IL-7 and CCL19 expression have been demonstrated to improve T cell infiltration and CAR-T cell survival in mouse tumors. Therefore, in the current study, we engineered human CAR-T cells to secrete human IL-7 and CCL19 (7 × 19) and found that these 7 × 19 CAR-T cells showed enhanced capacities of expansion and migration in vitro.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates a new fine needle-mediated breathing-control technique used during CT-guided procedures for biopsies and microwave ablations in small lung or liver nodules located near the diaphragm.
  • In a sample of 46 patients, the technique showed a high success rate of 91.30% for punctures, demonstrating its effectiveness in both biopsy (15 cases) and MWA (31 cases).
  • The results indicated reasonable radiation exposure and mild complications (such as minimal hemoptysis and pneumothorax), suggesting that this technique is not only safe and effective but also suitable for broader clinical use.

Early and long-term outcomes of argatroban use in patients with acute noncardioembolic stroke.

Clin Neurol Neurosurg

November 2020

Department of Neurology, Guangdong Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Affiliated Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine University of Guangzhou, Foshan, Guangdong, 528200, PR China. Electronic address:

Background: Argatroban in acute noncardioembolic stroke ineligible for intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) or endovascular treatment (EVT) remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate whether argatroban improved early and long-term outcomes compared with antiplatelet treatment.

Methods: This retrospective observational study, using the prospective stroke database from our hospital, included all consecutive patients who hospitalized from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2019, with a diagnosis of acute non-cardioembolic stroke within 48 hours of stroke onset but not receiving IVT and EVT.

Article Synopsis
  • Mesothelin (MSLN) is overexpressed in ovarian cancer, making it a promising target for immunotherapy, particularly using CAR NK cells.
  • Researchers created MSLN- and CD19-targeted CAR NK-92 cells, which showed a strong ability to specifically kill MSLN-positive ovarian cancer cells while sparing MSLN-negative ones.
  • In both lab and mouse models, MSLN-CAR NK cells demonstrated significant anti-tumor activity and improved survival rates, indicating the potential for MSLN-targeted immunotherapy in ovarian cancer treatment.

Cardiovascular Center, Qingyuan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Affiliated Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine University of Guangzhou, No.10, Qiaobei Road, Qingchen District, Qingyuan, Guangdong Province, 511000, China.

Background: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of aspirin usage for coronary heart disease (CHD) primary prevention in patients with dyslipidemia.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted to enrolled subjects with documented dyslipidemia. A total of 202 patients with dyslipidemia were recruited and 138 were undergone aspirin treatment before this indexed admission and 64 had never been treated with aspirin.

We aimed to evaluate the influence of exogenetic insulin on bone mineral density (BMD) in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). Group A included 120 cases of middle-aged male patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were administrated exogenetic insulin (40 cases in Group A1: for less than 1 year; 40 cases in Group A2:for 1 to 3 years; 40cases in Group A3: for 3 to 5 years), and another 120 cases (Group B) of middle-aged male patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were administrated insulin secretagogues. The measurements of BMD of lumbar vertebra (L2-4), collum femoris and total body were conducted with dual-energy X-raya bsorptiometry, followed by the determination of glycosylated hemoglobin, plasma insulin concentration (fasting and postprandial), and fasting C-peptide.
