Introduction: Youhua Kuijie prescription (YHKJ) is a hospital preparation that is composed of nine kinds of herbs. Sulfasalazine (SASP) is widely used as a first-line clinical treatment for UC. Traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine have their own advantages in the treatment of UC, and the mechanism of YHKJ combined with SASP in the treatment of UC needs to be investigated.

Objectives: To study the effects and mechanisms of tetramethylpyrazine (TMP) on tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)-induced inflammatory injury in human coronary artery endothelial cells (HCAEC).
Methods: HCAEC were randomly divided into four groups: the control group (no treatment), the model group (treated with TNF-α, 50 ng/mL for 24 hours), the TMP group (pre-treated with TMP, 80 μg/mL for 12 hours followed by TNF-α treatment for 24 hours), and the SIRT1 inhibitor group (pre-treated with TMP and the specific SIRT1 inhibitor EX527 for 12 hours followed by TNF-α treatment for 24 hours). Cell viability was assessed using the CCK-8 method, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity was measured using an LDH assay kit, reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels were observed using DCFH-DA staining, expression of pyroptosis-related proteins was detected by Western blot, and SIRT1 expression was analyzed using immunofluorescence staining.
Tongxie Yaofang (TXYF), a classical traditional Chinese medicine, is commonly used in China to treat ulcerative colitis (UC). The aim of this study was to integrate network pharmacology with molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations to explore the mechanism of Tongxie Yaofang in the treatment of UC. The traditional Chinese medicine systems pharmacology database was used to retrieve the relevant chemical compositions of the herbs contained in TXYF.

Olfactory receptors are seven-transmembrane G-protein-coupled receptors on the cell surface. Over the past few decades, evidence has been mounting that olfactory receptors are not unique to the nose and that their ectopic existence plays an integral role in extranasal diseases. Coupled with the discovery of many natural or synthetic odor-compound ligands, new roles of ecnomotopic olfactory receptors regulating blood glucose, obesity, blood pressure, and other metabolism-related diseases are emerging.

Kupffer cells (KC),an important subset of immune cells in the liver, are essential for maintaining tissue homeostasis and responding quickly to liver damage. The complement receptor of the immunoglobulin superfamily (CRIg) is a receptor protein on the KC membrane.CRIg can not only capture pathogens in the blood flowing through the liver by complement binding but also mediate immune responses by regulating immune cells in the liver.

Background: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a subtype of breast cancer that lacks the expression of three receptors commonly targeted in breast cancer treatment. In this study, the research focused on investigating the role of centrosomal protein 55 (CEP55) in TNBC progression and its interaction with the transcription factor Spi-1 proto-oncogene (SPI1).
Methods: Various techniques including qRT-PCR, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry assays were utilized to examine gene expression patterns.

Microwave thermotherapy (MWTT), as a treatment for tumors, lacks specificity and requires sensitizers. Most reported microwave sensitizers are single metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), which must be loaded with ionic liquids to enhance the performance in MWTT. Meanwhile, MWTT is rarely combined with other treatment modalities.

Heat stress (HS) disrupts intestinal microbiota, glycolipid metabolism, and hepatic mitochondrial function in late gestational mice. Baicalin (BAI), a Chinese herbal medicine known for its heat-clearing and anti-inflammatory properties, has shown promise in modulating intestinal microecology and mitigating inflammation in various organs. This study investigates whether baicalin attenuates HS-induced intestinal microbial dysbiosis and liver damage in pregnant mice during late gestation.

Purpose: This systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical observational studies aims to clarify the correlation between the intake levels of fruits and vegetables and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
Materials And Methods: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library were searched for studies on the association between vegetable or fruit intake with the risk of NAFLD from the foundation of each database up until September 2023. The relative risk (OR) and the 95% confidence interval (CI) were pooled for both the highest and lowest consumption levels of vegetables and fruits to explore their association with the incidence of NAFLD.

This study was designed to explore the role of RIP3 in DOX-induced cardiotoxicity and its underlying molecular mechanisms. Our results demonstrate that RIP3 exacerbates DOX-induced cardiotoxicity through promoting oxidative stress and pyroptosis by regulating the AKT/Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) signal pathway. Inhibition of RIP3 using GSK-872 attenuated DOX-induced cardiac remodeling and contractile dysfunction.

Introduction: To investigate the role of a novel type of protein kinase C delta (PKCδ) in the neuroinflammation of Alzheimer's disease (AD).
Methods: We analyzed PKCδ and inflammatory cytokines levels in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of AD and normal controls, as well as their correlations. The cellular expression pattern of PKCδ and the effects of PKCδ modulation on microglia-mediated neuroinflammation were evaluated by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), western blot, RNA sequencing (RNA-seq), and immunofluorescence staining.
