Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are capable of differentiating into bone, cartilage and adipose tissues. We identified BMP9 as the most potent osteoinductive BMP although detailed mechanism underlying BMP9-regulated osteogenesis of MSCs is indeterminate. Emerging evidence indicates that autophagy plays a critical role in regulating bone homeostasis.

Mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (MSC-exos) are phospholipid bimolecular vesicles containing various materials, and they mediate crosstalk among cells. MSC-exos can maintain glucose homeostasis and delay the progression of diabetes and its microvascular complications through multiple mechanisms, such as by improving β-cell viability and insulin resistance as well as through multiple signal transduction pathways. However, related knowledge has not yet been systematically summarized.

Immunotherapy is a practical and promising treatment for advanced and recurrent endometrial cancer (EC). In this study, we identified an immune-related gene (IRG) signature to predict the overall survival (OS) and response to immune checkpoints inhibitors (ICIs) in patients with EC. The RNA expression profiles of EC were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas database and then were filtered for IRGs based on the Immport database.

Background: We sought to evaluate the performance of a computed tomography (CT)-based radiomics nomogram we devised in distinguishing benign from malignant bone tumours.

Methods: Two hundred and six patients with bone tumours were spilt into two groups: a training set (n = 155) and a validation set (n = 51). A feature extraction process based on 3D Slicer software was used to extract the radiomics features from unenhanced CT images, and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator logistic regression was used to calculate the radiomic score to generate a radiomics signature.

Purpose: In order to achieve accurate and minimally invasive root canal treatment and enhance the fracture resistance of tooth tissue after root canal therapy, this study explores digital guided mediated minimally invasive root canal treatment and compares it with conventional root canal treatment to provide a more favorable method for clinical practice.

Methods: Forty freshly extracted first permanent molars were randomly divided into control group and experimental group. Teeth in the control group were treated with conventional root canal treatment, while teeth in the experimental group were treated with precise minimally invasive root canal treatment.

Background: Neoadjuvant radiotherapy plays a vital role in the treatment of malignant bone tumors, and non-invasive imaging methods are needed to evaluate the response to treatment.

Purpose: To assess the value of diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) for monitoring early response to radiotherapy in malignant bone tumors.

Material And Methods: Treatment response was evaluated in a rabbit VX2 bone tumor model (n = 35) using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), DKI, and histopathologic examinations.

Objective: We aimed to investigate the regulatory mechanism of miR-133b and Sp1 in rats with severe acute pancreatitis complicated by acute lung injury.

Methods: The rats were divided into normal, NC, model, si-Sp1, miR-133b mimic, miR-133b inhibitor, and miR-133b inhibitor + si-Sp1 group and received different treatments.

Results: Compared with normal mice, model mice had a lower miR-133b expression, but higher levels of Sp1 expression, W/D of lung tissue, myeloperoxidase activities, and higher levels of interleukin(IL)-6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and IL-1β, cell apoptosis rate and Notch-1, and Hes-1, nuclear factor (NF)-κB P65 expressions in lung tissue.

The present study aimed to investigate the role of mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) in the remodeling of the condyle subchondral bone in rats with temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJ OA) and explore the mechanisms involved. In this study, we used rats fitted with appliances to overly extend the mandible forward as an animal model of TMJ OA. Bone samples were collected 2, 4, and 8 weeks after appliance fixation.

Ovarian cancer is one of the most common cancers in women and the second most common cause of gynecologic cancer death in women worldwide. While ovarian cancer is highly heterogeneous in histological subtypes and molecular genetic makeup, epithelial ovarian cancer is the most common subtype. The clinical outcomes of ovarian cancer largely depend on early detection and access to appropriate surgery and systemic therapy.

Objective: To explore the effect of salivary gland removal on water immersion restraint stress (WIRS)-induced gastric mucosal injury (GMI) in rats.

Methods: Eighty male WISTAR rats were allocated into sham operation (sham) group, sham + WIRS group, salivary gland removal group, and salivary gland removal + WIRS group, with 20 rats in each group. In the sham group, skin and subcutaneous tissues were cut to expose glands.

Primary bone tumor, also known as osteosarcoma (OS), is the most common primary malignancy of bone in children and young adults. Current treatment protocols yield a 5-year survival rate of near 70% although approximately 80% of patients have metastatic disease at the time of diagnosis. However, long-term survival rates have remained virtually unchanged for nearly four decades, largely due to our limited understanding of the disease process.

Purpose: To study the relationship between atrophic glossitis and anemia, anemia types and other related factors(oral candida infection, xerostomia) in 124 consecutive cases.

Methods: One hundred and twenty-four cases with atrophic glossitis and 53 healthy controls were collected from Qingdao local population. The main indexes including general status, oral examination findings, hemoglobin (Hb), mean red blood cell volume (MCV), vitamin B12, ferritin, folic acid, anemia and anemia type, xerostomia and candida infection were statistically analyzed using SPSS 20.

Introduction: Plasma markers have been reported to be associated with brain amyloid burden, tau pathology, or neurodegeneration. We aimed to evaluate whether plasma biomarker profiles could predict Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology and clinical progression in older adults without dementia.

Methods: Cross-sectional and longitudinal data of participants enrolled in this study were from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI).

Since the first patient reported in December 2019, 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has become global pandemic with more than 10 million total confirmed cases and 500 thousand related deaths. Using deep learning methods to quickly identify COVID-19 and accurately segment the infected area can help control the outbreak and assist in treatment. Computed tomography (CT) as a fast and easy clinical method, it is suitable for assisting in diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19.

We have previously demonstrated that miR-1236-3p and its sequence homology dsRNA, dsRNA-245 (which is completely complementary to the p21 promoter) had potential ability to upregulate p21 expression by targeting specific promoter sequence and inhibited bladder cancer (BCa). However, we still know little about the effect of miR-1236-3p on prostate cancer and which dsRNA has an inhibitory effect on prostate cancer (PCa)? Here, we confirmed that miR-1236-3p was decreased in PCa cells and tissues. MiR-1236-3p inhibited PCa cells growth and metastasis by activating p21.

Exposure to dioxins, such as 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD), is reported to affect the autoimmune system and increase the risk of autoimmune disease. Generally, dioxin exerts its toxicity via aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR). Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is a chronic autoimmune disease, and its pathogenesis involves the interplay between immune and environmental factors.
