Background: Obesity could compromise people's health and elevate the risk of numerous severe chronic conditions and premature mortality. Young adults are at high risk of adopting unhealthy lifestyles related to overweight and obesity, as they are at a phase marked by several significant life milestones that have been linked to weight gain. They gain weight rapidly and excess adiposity mostly accrues, compared with middle-aged and older adults when weight stabilizes or even decreases.

Background: The global burden of metabolic diseases is increasing, but estimates of their impact on primary liver cancer are uncertain. We aimed to assess the global burden of primary liver cancer attributable to metabolic risk factors, including high body mass index (BMI) and high fasting plasma glucose (FPG) levels, between 1990 and 2021.
Methods: The total number and age-standardized rates of deaths and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) from primary liver cancer attributable to each metabolic risk factor were extracted from the Global Burden of Disease Study 1990-2021.

Purpose: Heart failure (HF) is a clinical syndrome in which structural or functional abnormalities of the heart result in impaired ventricular filling or ejection capacity. In order to improve the adaptability of models to different patient populations and data situations. This study aims to develop predictive models for HF risk using six machine learning algorithms, providing valuable insights into the early assessment and recognition of HF by clinical features.

Background: In China, research on the mental health of transgender populations is increasingly prevalent; however, there is a lack of localized psychological measurement tools that align with the characteristics of this population. The Transgender Congruence Scale (TCS) is widely used internationally. This study aims to assess the reliability, validity, and psychometric characteristics of the Chinese version of the TCS among the Chinese transgender sample.

Objective: Accurate preoperative evaluation of myometrial invasion (MI) is essential for treatment decisions in endometrial cancer (EC). However, the diagnostic accuracy of commonly utilized magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques for this assessment exhibits considerable variability. This study aims to enhance preoperative discrimination of absence or presence of MI by developing and validating a multimodal deep learning radiomics (MDLR) model based on MRI.

Previous cesarean scar defect (PCSD), also acknowledged as the myometrium of uterus defects, which commonly results in myometrial discontinuity between the uterine and cervical cavity. Current literatures have indicated the efficacy of MSCs and MSC-derived exosomes (MSC-Exos) for diverse refractory disease administration, yet the feasibility of MSC-Exos for PCSD treatment is largely obscure. In this study, we took advantage of the in vivo myofibrotic model for mimicking the typical manifestation of PCSD and the assessment of fertility.

This paper reviews the transformative impact of transcriptomics on understanding cancer biology, focusing on the use of extensive datasets such as The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx). While transcriptomic data provides crucial insights into gene expression patterns and disease mechanisms, the analysis is fraught with technical and biological biases.

Diabetic liver injury is a serious complication due to the lack of effective treatments and the unclear pathogenesis. Ferroptosis, a form of cell death involving reactive oxygen species (ROS)-dependent lipid peroxidation (LPO), is closely linked to autophagy and diabetic complications. Therefore, this study is aimed at investigating the role of autophagy in regulating ferroptosis by modulating the degradation of acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4 (ACSL4) in diabetic hepatocytes and its potential impact on diabetic liver injury.

Background And Objectives: There is growing evidence that deficiencies in specific nutrients can impact testosterone levels in older men. However, research examining the predictive value of overall nutritional status on testosterone levels remains limited. The Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI) is an effective tool for assessing the nutritional status of the elderly.

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the impact of APS on acute kidney injury induced by rhabdomyolysis (RIAKI), exploring its association with macrophage M1 polarization and elucidating the underlying mechanisms.
Methods: C57BL/6J mice were randomly assigned to one of three groups: a normal control group, a RIAKI model group, and an APS treatment group. Techniques such as flow cytometry and immunofluorescence were employed to demonstrate that APS can inhibit the transition of renal macrophages to the M1 phenotype in RIAKI.

Objective: Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is commonly recognized as the most fatal lung cancer type. Despite substantial advances in immune checkpoint blockade therapies for treating solid cancers, their benefits are limited to a minority of patients with SCLC. In the present study, novel indicators for predicting the outcomes and molecular targets for SCLC treatment were elucidated.

The gut microbiota plays a crucial regulatory role in various physiological processes, yet its impact on corneal homeostasis remains insufficiently understood. Here, we investigate the effects of antibiotic-induced gut dysbiosis (AIGD) and germ-free (GF) conditions on circadian gene expression, barrier integrity, nerve density, and immune cell activity in the corneas of mice. Through RNA sequencing, we found that both AIGD and GF conditions significantly disrupted the overall transcriptomic profile and circadian transcriptomic oscillations in the cornea.

Previous studies demonstrated that dexmedetomidine (Dex) posttreatment aggravated myocardial dysfunction and reduced survival in septic mice. Yet, whether Dex elicits similar effects in septic patients as defined by Sepsis-3 remains unknown. This study sought to assess the effects of Dex-based sedation on mortality and cardiac dysfunction in septic patients defined by Sepsis-3 and to further reveal the mechanisms in septic rats.
