Primary breast myeloid sarcoma: A case report and literature review.

Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is a rare extramedullary tumor originating from immature bone marrow cells. MS of the breast is an extremely uncommon disease with non-specific clinical and radiological features. The present case report describes a distinctive case of MS of the breast, which posed diagnostic challenges due to the absence of typical imaging characteristics at the time of presentation.

A meta-analysis comparing volar locking plates and cast immobilization for distal radius fractures in the elderly.

Background: The long-term outcomes (≥ 2 years of follow-up) of volar locked plate (VLP) fixation versus closed reduction and casting (CRC) for the treatment of displaced distal radial fractures (DRFs) remain unclear. This study aimed to conduct a meta-analysis comparing the long-term clinical outcomes of VLP and CRC in elderly patients (aged ≥ 60 years).

Methods: A comprehensive search of PubMed, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library was performed to identify studies comparing the long-term outcomes of VLP and CRC for DRFs.

Background: Skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM) ranks among the most prevalent malignant tumors, highlighting the significance of identifying new research targets. In this study, our objective was to pinpoint pivotal genes implicated in SKCM pathogenesis and ascertain their potential as prognostic biomarkers.

Methods: Leveraging data from 1809 normal skin samples and 471 SKCM samples, we identified differentially expressed genes (DEGs).

Studies on the Role of MAP4K2, SPI1, and CTSD in Osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis (OP) is a prevalent skeletal disorder characterized by an imbalance between bone resorption and bone formation, resulting in a significant global burden. Previous research utilizing bioinformatics analysis has identified MAP4K2, SPI1, and CTSD as hub genes associated with OP. In this current investigation, we have successfully established a differential expression system of MAP4K2, SPI1, and CTSD in rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) through transfection techniques.

Objective: Previous studies have revealed functional changes within the cerebral hemispheres of patients with SLE; however the changes between cerebral hemispheres are still unknown. The present study aimed to explore the functional and structural changes between bilateral hemispheres using functional MRI and find their relationship with cognition in patients with SLE.

Methods: 54 patients with SLE and 32 age-matched and sex-matched healthy controls (HCs) underwent MRI scanning and neuropsychological testing, and clinical data was collected in patients with SLE.

ERAP1 Gene Variants and Haplotypes Associated With Psoriasis Vulgaris of Han Chinese in Inner Mongolia.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the association between genetic variants of ERAP1 (OMIM: 606832) and psoriasis vulgaris (PsV) susceptibility in Inner Mongolia Han nationality.

Methods: For primary screening, the subjects included 142 PsV cases and 100 healthy controls without psoriasis. The 27 exons of ERAP1 gene were sequenced to screen significant genetic variants.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a multilevel promoting postpartum family planning (PPFP) intervention on the reduction of unintended pregnancies and induced abortions in China.

Study Design: We performed a cluster randomized intervention study to assess the effects of a multilevel PPFP intervention on the rates of unintended pregnancy and induced abortion within 12 months postpartum. Thirty-six hospitals were included and randomly allocated to two groups at a 1:1 ratio, enrolling 180 pregnant women per hospital starting in January 2019.

Unlabelled: Carbapenem-resistant hypervirulent (CR-hvKP) strains present a significant global public health threat due to their high mortality rates. This study investigated the genomic characteristics of seven ST11-K1 CR-hvKP isolates harboring highly homologous KPC-2-encoding multidrug-resistance plasmids. The strains were isolated from a Chinese tertiary hospital between 2017 and 2020.

This systematic review aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of intra-articular glucocorticoids after arthroscopic knee surgery.

Risk factors for conversion from minimally invasive surgery to thoracotomy in patients with lung cancer: outcomes from a pooled analysis.

The purpose of this study is to explore the risk factors for conversion from minimally invasive surgery to thoracotomy in patients with lung cancer through meta-analytic approach, and provide a better evidence-based basis for clinicians to perform surgery. We conducted a comprehensive search across databases including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library database to identify relevant English-language studies published up to February 2024. The pooled effect estimate was calculated using the odds ratio (OR) and a 95% confidence interval (CI).

Ultrasound-Guided Needling Combined With High- or Low-Energy Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy Versus Needling Alone for Calcified Rotator Cuff: A Retrospective Study.

Background: Rotator cuff calcific tendinitis is a common shoulder joint disorder. Nonsurgical treatment methods, including multiple needling and extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), can effectively treat calcific tendinitis.

Purpose: To evaluate the clinical results and radiological outcomes of treatment with ultrasound-guided needling (UGN) alone versus UGN with high-energy ESWT (UGN-H) or UGN with low-energy ESWT (UGN-L) in patients with calcific tendinitis of the rotator cuff.
