A biocompatible NIR-II light-responsive nanoknife for permanent male sterilization.

Nanomaterial-mediated photothermal therapy (PTT) is a promising strategy for permanent male sterilization owing to its easy operation, rapid heating, minimal invasiveness, and high spatiotemporal controllability. However, the currently available PTT for male sterilization utilizes irradiation sources in the first near-infrared window (NIR-I), which may suffer from incomplete sterilization due to the insufficient penetration depth of NIR-I light. Herein, we developed a facile one-pot hydrothermal synthetic method of cysteine-coated copper sulfide (Cys-CuS) nanosheets for the second NIR window (NIR-II) PTT-mediated permanent male sterilization.

Risk factors associated with lymph node metastasis in patients with small papillary thyroid carcinomas.

Objective: This study aims to analyze risk factors for central lymph node metastasis (CLNM) in patients with small papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC).

Methods: The clinicopathologic data of 375 patients with small PTC admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University from January 2017 to December 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. The patients were divided into two groups, namely, CLNM (n = 177) and non-CLNM (n = 198) groups.

Cell division cycle protein 20 (Cdc20) is a member of the cell cyclin family. In the early stage of mitosis, it activates the anaphase-promoting complex (APC) and forms the E3 ubiquitin ligase complex APC, which destroys key regulators of the cell cycle and promotes mitosis. Atherosclerosis, a chronic inflammatory disease, is the primary cause of most cardiovascular diseases. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) were reported to serve as post-transcriptional regulators and diagnostic markers in various diseases, but the underlying correlation between circRNAs and atherosclerosis remains elusive. In this study, we downloaded the microarray dataset GSE107522 from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and identified nine differentially expressed circRNAs (DECs).

Ischemic heart disease (IHD) is a common clinical disease and has a younger tendency in recent years. This study focused on the role of Ulinastatin (UTI) in the anti-oxidative stress and anti-inflammatory response of cardiomyocytes. H9c2 cells were divided into control group, ischemia-anoxic group (ischemic hypoxia group) and ischemia-anoxia + UTI group (UTI group).

Effects of sleeve gastrectomy on lipid and energy metabolism in ZDF rats via PI3K/AKT pathway.

Sleeve Gastrectomy (SG), as the most effective bariatric surgery, has been using to chronically lose weight and control glucose metabolism in Type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. However, the underlining mechanism is still unclear. In this study, we performed SG on Zucker diabetes fatty (ZDF) rat and investigated visceral lipid metabolism and energy metabolism.

[Evaluation of modified scene simulation teaching of endodontics in pre -clinical practice].

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of modified scene simulation teaching of endodontics in pre-clinical teaching.

Methods: Forty students were randomly divided into the experimental group and control group, there were 20 students in each group. Students in the experimental group were taught with modified scene simulation teaching method, while students in the control group were taught with traditional teaching method.

Natural killer cells inhibit oxaliplatin-resistant colorectal cancer by repressing WBSCR22 via upregulating microRNA-146b-5p.

Natural killer (NK) cells have exhibited promising efficacy in inhibiting cancer growth. We aimed to explorer the effect of NK cells on oxaliplatin-resistant colorectal cancer and the underlying molecular mechanism. Oxaliplatin-resistant colorectal cancer cell lines were co-cultured with NK cells to evaluate the effect on viability, proliferation, migration and invasion .

[Evaluation of nutrition risk and analysis of relative factors of patients with oral and maxillofacial cancer].

Purpose: To evaluate the potential nutrition risk and analyze relative factors in patients with oral and maxillofacial cancer, and explore the treatment method of nutrition risk.

Methods: Eighty eight patients with oral and maxillofacial cancer were included in the present study. Their age, height, weight, clinical classification, level of hemoglobin、albumin and prealbumin，present treatment were recorded and patients' body weight index (BMI) was calculated and scored based on a table of nutrition risk evaluation.

Administration time-dependent effects of combination therapy on ambulatory blood pressure in hypertensive subjects.

The aim of this study was to explore the influence of combination therapy in different administration time on antihypertensive efficacy and blood pressure variability in patients with essential hypertension. A total of 86 patients with stage II to III essential hypertension were randomly divided into 4 groups: taking indapamide and losartan potassium together in the morning or in the evening 2 to 4 hours before sleep, indapamide in the morning and losartan potassium in the evening, losartan potassium in the morning and indapamide in the evening. Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring was performed before and 12 weeks after the medication.

Improved donor liver position selection and revascularization for heterotopic auxiliary liver transplantation with portal vein arterialization.

Purpose: To establish an animal model of improved donor liver position selection and revascularization for heterotopic auxiliary liver transplantation with portal vein arterialization (HALT-PVA).

Methods: Sprague-Dawley rats were utilized to establish models. Improved HALT-PVA was conducted for the experimental rat: hepatic common artery of donor liver was end-to-side anastomosed to portal vein which was end-to-side anastomosed to the left common iliac artery of host rat, while the segments of inferior vena cava superior and inferior to the donor liver were end-to-side anastomosed to the inferior vena cava of host rat, respectively.

Association of GSTP1 and XRCC1 gene polymorphisms with clinical outcome of advanced non-small cell lung cancer patients with cisplatin-based chemotherapy.

We investigated the association between the clinical outcome and GSTP1 and XRCC1 gene polymorphisms in advanced NSCLC patients with cisplatin-based chemotherapy. We prospectively recruited 325 NSCLC patients between January 2010 and January 2014. Genotypes of GSTP1 A313G, XRCC1 Arg194Trp, Arg280His and Arg399Gln were conducted using polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) assay.
