The peripheral nervous system is a complex ecological network, and its injury triggers a series of fine-grained intercellular regulations that play a crucial role in the repair process. The peripheral nervous system is a sophisticated ecological network, and its injury initiates a cascade of intricate intercellular regulatory processes that are instrumental in the repair process. Despite the advent of sophisticated microsurgical techniques, the repair of peripheral nerve injuries frequently proves inadequate, resulting in adverse effects on patients' quality of life.

Background: Lower-grade glioma (LGG) exhibits significant heterogeneity in clinical outcomes, and current prognostic markers have limited predictive value. Despite the growing recognition of histone modifications in tumor progression, their role in LGG remains poorly understood. This study aimed to develop a histone modification-based risk signature and investigate its relationship with drug sensitivity to guide personalized treatment strategies.

Background: Bladder cancer (BCa) is one of the most common malignancies worldwide, and its prognostication and treatment remains challenging. The fast growth of various cancer cells requires reprogramming of its energy metabolism using aerobic glycolysis as a major energy source. However, the prognostic and therapeutic value of glycolysis-related genes in BCa remains to be determined.

Unlabelled: Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) have been shown to play a crucial role in the progression of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Exosomes derived from CAFs have emerged as important mediators of intercellular communication in the tumor microenvironment, contributing to cancer progression. Therefore, it is essential to further investigate the mechanisms by which CAF-derived exosomes regulate NSCLC.

Achilles tendon is a motor organ that is prone to tissue adhesion during its repair process after rupture. Therefore, developing motion-responsive and anti-adhesive biomaterials is an important need for the repair of Achilles tendon rupture. Here, we report an injectable lubricative hydrogel (ILH) based on hydration lubrication mechanism, which is also motion-responsive based on sol-gel reversible transmission.

Background: Mucinous adenocarcinoma is a rare type of colorectal cancer (CRC) associated with poor prognosis, particularly when it includes signet ring cell components. Furthermore, its rate of microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) is significantly higher compared to non-mucinous adenocarcinoma. Immunotherapy has emerged as the standard treatment for MSI-H metastatic CRC (mCRC).

Ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is a significant clinical problem impacting the heart and other organs, such as the kidneys and liver. This study explores the protective effects of oxycodone on myocardial I/R injury and its underlying mechanisms. Using a myocardial I/R model in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats and an oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) model in H9c2 cells, we administered oxycodone and inhibited AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) with Compound C (C.

According to epidemiological studies, diabetes is more common in patients with AD, which suggests that diabetes is a significant risk factor for AD. Accelerating brain cell degeneration, worsening cognitive decline, and increasing susceptibility to AD can be attributed to pathogenic mechanisms linked to diabetes, such as impaired insulin signaling in the brain, neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and vascular impairment. These factors can also lead to the accumulation of β-amyloid and tau protein phosphorylation.

Background: Changes in cerebral blood flow (CBF) may contribute to the initial stages of the pathophysiological process in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD). Hypoperfusion has been observed in several brain regions in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). However, the clinical significance of CBF changes in the early stages of AD is currently unclear.

Excessive oxidative stress and persistent inflammation are key factors contributing to the formation of diabetic chronic wounds. Delivering antioxidants through a microenvironment-responsive hydrogel system can effectively enhance wound healing and tissue regeneration. In this study, we developed a novel pH- and glucose-responsive hydrogel using Schiff base reaction and phenyl borate group for intelligent antioxidant release.

Programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) inhibitors plus chemotherapy have been the standard of care in the first-line treatment of advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction (G/GEJ) adenocarcinoma; however, the survival benefits are modest in patients with low programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression. Here we investigated the efficacy and safety of cadonilimab (PD-1/cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen-4 (CTLA-4) bispecific antibody) plus chemotherapy as first-line treatment in G/GEJ adenocarcinoma. The prespecified interim analysis is reported here.

Background: Lung cancer is the main cause of cancer death in the world, with small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) accounting for about 10-15% of all lung cancers. Although programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1)/programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitors represent a major breakthrough in SCLC treatment, only a minority of patients will benefit and there is still a lack of accurate biomarkers to guide clinical application. Inflammation plays a crucial role in tumorigenesis, tumor development, metastasis, and drug resistance, but there is limited research on the predictive value of these inflammatory indicators in SCLC.

RPS6KA1 express disorder is associated with many cancers, but the role in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and the specific mechanism is still unclear. We used bioinformatics analysis to explore the role of Ribosomal Protein S6 Kinase A1(RPS6KA1) in HNSCC which were predicted to regulate certain pathway and immune microenvironment to increase the risk in HNSCC. Multiple bioinformatics tools based on the EBI, GEO, TCGA databases and clinical samples were used to analyze the expression of RPS6K1 in HNSCC.

Friction is the trigger cause for excessive exogenous adhesion, leading to the poor self-repair of the tendon. To address this problem, we developed electrospun dual-functional nanofibers with surface robust superlubricated performance and bioactive agent delivery to regulate healing balance by reducing exogenous adhesion and promoting endogenous healing. Coaxial electrospinning and our previous developed in situ robust nanocoating growth techniques were employed to create the lubricative/repairable core-shell structured nanofibrous membrane (L/R-NM).

This study aimed to investigate the role of transforming growth factor-beta 3 (TGF-β3) secreted by adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) in suppressing melanin synthesis during the wound healing process, particularly in burn injuries, and to explore the underlying mechanisms involving the cAMP/PKA signaling pathway. ADSCs were isolated from C57BL/6 mice and characterized using flow cytometry and differentiation assays. A burn injury model was established in mice, followed by UVB irradiation to induce hyperpigmentation.

Saffron has been traditionally used for various health benefits, but its effects on biomarkers of liver function, kidney function, and blood pressure in diabetes are not well understood. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the impact of saffron supplementation on systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), fasting blood glucose (FBG), liver enzymes (ALT, AST), and kidney function markers (BUN, creatinine) in patients with diabetes and prediabetes. A comprehensive search was conducted across multiple databases to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing saffron/crocin supplementation on glycemic control, hepatic and renal function, and blood pressure regulation in patients with diabetes and prediabetes.
