Background: Patients with syphilis are the only source of infection, which can be transmitted through sexual contact and mother-to-child and blood transmission, and rarely through contaminants. The clinical manifestations of syphilis are complex and variable, and can be easily misdiagnosed. This article reports a case of syphilis in a child with "psoriasis"-like lesions who was fed pre-chewed food.

To investigate CHD1L's impacts and molecular processes in hypoxic cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. Monoclonal proliferation assays and CCK-8 were used to detect the proliferation capacity of A431 cells and Colon16 cells; wound healing experiments and Transwell assays were used to examine the migration and invasion capacity of A431 cells and Colon16 cells; angiogenesis experiments were conducted to assess the influence of A431 cells on angiogenesis; a nude mouse tumor xenograft experiment and HE staining were utilized to evaluate the impact of CHD1L on the progression of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma; western blot analysis was performed to detect the expression of p-PI3K, p-AKT, and PD-L1 in A431 cells, as well as CD9, TSG101, PD-L1 in exosomes, and CD206, Arginase-1, iNOS, IL-1β, p-AKT, p-mTOR, VEGF, COX-2, MMP2, MMP9, p-ERK1/2 in tumor-associated macrophages. Under hypoxic conditions, CHD1L promoted the proliferation, migration, invasion, and angiogenesis of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.

Liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC) is a malignancy characterized by a high rate of recurrence, metastasis, and poor prognosis. Cytochrome b561 (CYB561) has been previously reported to be associated with tumor progression, but it has not been revealed in LIHC. The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic value and potential function of CYB561 in LICH.

Tumor-associated chronic lung inflammation depends on tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α to activate several cytokines as part of an inflammatory loop, which plays a critical role in tumor progression in lung adenocarcinoma. High mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) is a cytokine that mediates inflammation. Whether TNF-α-induced inflammation regulates HMGB1 to contribute to tumor progression and promotion in lung adenocarcinoma remains unclear.

Aims: To explore the efficacy and safety of lumbar sympathetic ganglion radiofrequency combined with anhydrous ethanol in treating pain associated with osteonecrosis of the femoral head, providing clinical reference.
Methods: This retrospective study involved 101 patients with osteonecrosis of the femoral head. According to the different treatment methods, the patients were classified into an observation group where lumbar sympathetic ganglion radiofrequency combined with anhydrous ethanol therapy was applied (n=51) and a control group where lumbar sympathetic ganglion radiofrequency alone was applied (n=50).

Background: Retinol binding protein 4 (RBP4) is a mediator of inflammation and related to skin lesion formation, which suggests its engagement in psoriasis pathology and progression. This study intended to explore the change in RBP4 after systemic treatments, and its ability to predict treatment response in psoriasis patients.
Methods: This prospective study enrolled 85 psoriasis patients and 20 healthy subjects.

Background: Breast cancer (BC), a common malignant tumor originating from the terminal ductal lobular unit of the breast, poses a substantial health risk to women. Previous studies have associated cytochrome b561 (CYB561) with a poor prognosis in BC; however, its underlying mechanism of this association remains unclear.
Methods: We investigated the expression of CYB561 mRNA in BC using databases such as The Cancer Genome Atlas, Gene Expression Omnibus, Tumor-Normal-Metastatic plot, and Kaplan-Meier plotter databases.

In eukaryotic cells, primases are the key polymerase during DNA replication and DNA damage repair, which includes primase subunit 1 (PRIM1) and primase subunit 2 (PRIM2). Recent studies reported that the aberrant expression and activity of PRIM enzymes are closely associated with the carcinogenesis and development of various cancers. PRIM1 is overexpressed in hepatocellular carcinoma, breast cancer, and other cancers, while PRIM2 is highly expressed in lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, and other cancers.

Kidney fibrosis is considered to be the ultimate aggregation pathway of chronic kidney disease (CKD), but its underlying mechanism remains elusive. Protein kinase C-delta (PKC-δ) plays critical roles in the control of growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. In this study, we found that PKC-δ was highly upregulated in human biopsy samples and mouse kidneys with fibrosis.

Objectives: Invasive lumbar puncture is the conventional method for diagnosing neurosyphilis (NS). We investigated a non-invasive alternative method to detect serum Treponema pallidum-specific antibodies against highly immunogenic antigens TP0171 (TP15), TP0435 (TP17), and TP0574 (TP47) by using luciferase immunosorbent assay.
Methods: A total of 816 HIV-negative patients suspected of NS from the Beijing and Guangzhou cohorts were retrospectively selected and tested for serum anti-TP15, TP17, and TP47 IgG antibodies.

Objectives: To explore the prevention and management of venous thromboembolism (VTE) following major orthopaedic surgery (MOS) by fostering doctor-to-patient cultivation of musculoskeletal ability, guided by King's theory of goal attainment.
Methods: A cohort of patients (n = 116) undergoing MOS was selected for the study, and were divided into two groups: the regular group and the observation group, with patients in the regular group experiencing routine nursing care and management and those in the observation group undergoing musculoskeletal ability cultivation based on King's theory of goal attainment. Baseline data, limb vascular ultrasonography, coagulation function, Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) score, VTE prevention efficacy, Exercise of Self-care Ability Scale (ESCA) score, and nursing satisfaction were analysed comparatively.

Keloids represent a prevalent dermal fibroproliferative disorder. They only affect humans and exhibit several tumor characteristics, such as excessive extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition, which usually occurs after skin injury. Kreotoxin type A (KTA) can inhibit the release of acetylcholine, and thereby inhibit the proliferation of keloid fibroblasts and reducing the formation of scars.
