This study aims to investigate the therapeutic effects and potential mechanisms of resveratrol(Res) on poor ovarian response(POR) in mice. The common target genes shared by Res and POR were predicted by network pharmacology, used for Gene Ontology(GO) annotation and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG) pathway enrichment, and then validated by animal experiments. The mice with regular estrous cycle after screening were randomized into normal, POR, and low-and high-dose(20 and 40 mg·kg~(-1), respectively) Res groups.

Background: To investigate the relationship between visfatin level in the peripheral blood of patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients and the severity of AMI, cardiovascular risk factors and atrial fibrillation after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Methods: A total of 37 AMI patients diagnosed and treated in our hospital were selected as experimental group, and 35 patients with normal coronary angiography were enrolled as control group. The general pathological data and occurrence of atrial fibrillation after PCI of all the patients were recorded in detail, and the content of indexes related to the severity of AMI and visfatin was measured.

Depression, a prevalent psychiatric disorder, presents a serious health risk to humans. Increasing evidence suggested that the gut microbiota and the 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) pathway both contribute significantly to depression. This research aimed to investigate how polysaccharides (CYP) could potentially alleviate depression induced by chronic unpredictable mild stress in mice, as well as its underlying mechanism.

Objective: While numerous observational studies have indicated an association between lipids and Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SSNHL), it remains uncertain whether dyslipidemia serves as a causal risk factor for SSNHL. Our objective is to elucidate the potential causal relationship between lipid levels and SSNHL through Mendelian randomization analysis.

Methods: The primary and secondary lipid data used in this study were sourced from the UK Biobank (UKBB) and the Global Lipid Genetics Consortium results (GLGC), respectively.

Sleep Med

January 2024

Sichuan Nursing Vocational College, No.173 Longdu South Road, Longquanyi District, Chengdu, Sichuan, 610100, China. Electronic address:

Background: Observational findings suggest that patients with narcolepsy are at higher risk for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), but the potential causal relationship between narcolepsy and CVDs is unclear. Therefore, Mendelian randomization (MR) was used to explore the association between narcolepsy and CVDs.

Methods: Summary statistics related to narcolepsy, coronary artery disease (CAD), myocardial infarction (MI), heart failure (HF), any stroke (AS), and any ischemic stroke (AIS) were extracted from the public database of relevant published genome-wide association studies (GWAS).

Objectives: The interaction between elderly people with disabilities and their caregivers and the improvement of caregiver burden is important for elderly people with disabilities and their caregivers. This study aims to explore the multiple mediating roles of caregiver's caring ability and resilience in depression in the elderly people with disabilities on caregiver burden.

Methods: A total of 246 elderly people with disabilities at home and their family caregivers from 5 regions were investigated by questionnaires, including the General Information Questionnaire, the Patient Health Questionnaire, the Family Caregiver Task Inventory, the Resilience Scale, and the Caregiver Burden Interview.

Objective: To investigate the effect of Bushen Huoxue Recipe (BSHXR) on serum metabolomics in polycystic ovary syndrome rat (PCOSR).

Methods: In our study, twenty-four 6-week-old Sprague-Dawley (SD) female rats were randomly divided into three groups: treatment group, model group and blank group. The blank group and other groups were gavaged in different ways each morning, and the rats were treated with normal saline or BSHXR containing liquid each afternoon.

Background: The previous epidemiological and experimental evidence has implied the linkage between chronic inflammation to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). However, it was still unclear whether there were casual associations between circulating inflammatory cytokines and IPF development. The objective of present study was to examine whether altered genetically predicted concentration of circulating cytokines were associated with IPF development using a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis.

Polyphenols are the main component of Phyllanthus emblica (PE). However, polyphenols are so easy to transform that it is unknown that how drying methods driven by heating affect the anti-fatigue effect of PE. This manuscript investigated the effects of five drying methods on the chemical composition transformation and anti-fatigue of PE, and discussed the action mechanism.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to explore how Tuina, a traditional Chinese massage, protects against intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration and its effects on the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway.
  • - Researchers conducted experiments on 30 rabbits, dividing them into various treatment groups, including a control, a Tuina group, and others receiving TGF-β1 or its inhibitor, using techniques like MRI and histopathological analysis to assess changes.
  • - Results showed that Tuina improved IVD health by reducing tissue damage, altering the levels of key proteins associated with disc degeneration and cell death, and influencing the activation of the TGF-β1/Smad pathway following injury caused by annulus fibros

Objective: To investigate the effects of acupoint catgut embedding for 3 weeks on lung tissue, blood immunoglobulin E (IgE) and interleutin-4 (IL-4), brain tissue microglia x-42 (OX-42) and toll-like receptor-2 (TLR-2) in rats with allergic rhinitis of lung deficiency type.

Methods: Forty-five female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided for two times. The first time, they were randomly divided into model group and blank group (Group C) according to 2:1, and the second time, the model group were randomly divided into model control group (Group B) and intervention treatment group (Group A) according to 1:1.

Article Synopsis
  • The P-I-R classification assesses liver fibrosis changes beyond traditional staging, aiding in the prediction of clinical outcomes for chronic hepatitis B patients.
  • In a study of 727 patients who underwent entecavir treatment for over 7 years, significant shifts in fibrosis classification were observed, with more patients moving to regressive cases post-treatment.
  • Patients categorized as progressive had a much higher risk of liver-related events compared to regressive cases, suggesting the P-I-R classification is valuable for evaluating liver health and prognosis.

Objective: To determine the feasibility of conducting a full-scale randomized controlled trial (RCT) and investigate the basic information and safety of acupuncture for patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU).

Methods: A total of 80 participants with CSU from July 2018 to July 2019 were randomly assigned to receive active acupuncture (n=41) on a fixed prescription of acupoints or sham acupuncture (n=39) with superficial acupuncture on non-acupuncture points through the completely randomized design. Patients in both groups received 5 sessions per week for 2 weeks, and participants were followed for a further 2 weeks.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a microvascular lesion that occurs as a complication of diabetes mellitus. Many studies reveal that retinal neurodegeneration occurs early in its pathogenesis, and abnormal retinal function can occur in patients without any signs of microvascular abnormalities. The gut microbiota is a large, diverse colony of microorganisms that colonize the human intestine.
