[Effect of Qiangjing Tablets on the MAPK signaling pathway in SD rats with asthenospermia].

Objective: To investigate the effects of Qiangjing Tablets (QJT) on sperm quality and the MAPK signaling pathway in the SD rat model of asthenospermia (AS).

Methods: A total of 100 male SD rats were randomly divided into five groups of equal number, blank control, AS model control, high-dose QJT, medium-dose QJT, and low-dose QJT. All the rats were intragastrically administered ORN at 200 mg/kg/d for establishment of the AS model except those in the blank control group, which were given 1% CMC sodium solution at 1 ml/100 g by gavage.

Objective: To investigate the mRNA and protein expressions of outer dense fiber 2 (ODF2) in the sperm of the asthenospermia patient and their differences from those in normal healthy men.

Methods: According to the WHO criteria, we collected semen samples from 45 asthenozoospermia patients and 15 normal healthy volunteers. Using computer-assisted sperm analysis (CASA), we divided the semen samples from the asthenospermia patients into a mild, a moderate and a severe group, and determined the mRNA and protein expressions of ODF2 in different groups by RT-PCR and Western blot.

Methods: This randomized controlled double-blind study included 246 cases of Qi-deficiency blood-stasis type of prostate cancer after castration, which were randomly divided into an experiment and a control group of equal number to be treated with Qilan Capsules + androgen-deprivation and placebo + androgen-deprivation, respectively. After 6 months of treatment, we compared the International Prostate Symptoms Scores (IPSS), TCM Symptoms Scores (TCMSS), maximal urine flow rate (Qmax), and the level of serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) between the two groups of patients.

Methods: Embase, Medline, and Cochrane Central were searched, and randomized controlled trials comparing SGLT2 inhibitors to placebos and other drugs for T2D were collected.

Results: Seven RCTs with a total of 3307 participants were included, and the overall bias was low.

The kinetics of serum hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) during the natural history of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection has been studied, but the factors affecting them remain unclear. We aimed to investigate the factors affecting HBsAg titres, using data from multicentre, large-sized clinical trials in China. The baseline data of 1795 patients in 3 multicentre trials were studied, and the patients were classified into 3 groups: hepatitis B early antigen (HBeAg)-positive chronic HBV infection (n = 588), HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B (n = 596), and HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B (n = 611).

An Autoantibody Against Human DNA-Topoisomerase I Is a Novel Biomarker for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.

Background: We previously reported a novel tumor-associated antigen with a molecular weight of approximately 48 kDa that was a fragment derived from human DNA-topoisomerase I. The aim of this study is to further investigate the clinical significance of the autoantibody in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Methods: We determined serum levels of the autoantibody in 127 NSCLC patients, 127 age-, sex-, and smoking history-matched healthy control subjects, and 38 patients with pulmonary benign tumors by using a specific enzyme linked immunosorbent assay for the autoantibody.

[Pathologic features of the epididymis in patients with epididymal obstructive azoospermia: Observation of 11 cases].

Objective: To search for potential therapeutic targets for epididymal obstructive azoospermia (EOA) secondary to epididymal infection by observing the pathologic features and analyzing the possible pathophysiologic mechanisms of the disease.

Methods: Eleven 28－53 years old infertile men with the history of epididymal infection were enrolled in this study, all diagnosed with azoospermia by routine semen examination and centrifugation. EOA was confirmed by further examinations of reproductive hormones and seminal plasma biochemical markers and scrotal ultrasonography, followed by surgical exploration and observation of the pathological characteristics of the epididymis.

[Current Status of Researches on Brain-imaging Responses of Acupuncture Stimulation Based on Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging].

Using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to investigate the underlying mechanisms of acupuncture therapy attracts an increasing attention nowadays. In the present article, the authors make a brief analysis on the progresses of researches about the intra-brain responses of acupuncture stimulation following collecting original research papers with key words of "acupuncture","fMRI" and "magnetic resonance imaging" in PubMed and CNKI databases from January 2003 to December 2014. As a result, a total of 253 original research articles were collected.

[Qilin Pills for obstructive azoospermia after ejaculatory duct reconstruction].

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Qilin Pills in the treatment of severe oligozoospermia after microsurgical ejaculatory duct reconstruction for obstructive azoospermia.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 75 cases of obstructive azoospermia treated by ejaculatory duct reconstruction followed by administration of Qilin Pills. The patients were divided into a Qilin group (n=42) and a control group (n=33) postoperatively, treated with Qilin Pills and placebo, respectively.

Differences in expression of serum protein in patients with psoriasis vulgaris and blood heat syndrome and healthy volunteers.

To explore the mechanism of psoriasis vulgaris (PV), serum protein expression profiles between PV patients with blood-heat syndrome and healthy volunteers were detected by isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation (iTRAQ). First, sera from 15 PV patients with blood-heat syndrome and 10 healthy volunteers were collected; then, serum proteins were separated and hydrolyzed by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and a specific iTRAQ marker enzyme respectively after further purification and protein abundance treatment. Compared with the control group, differentially expressed proteins in PV patients with blood-heat syndrome were identified and analyzed by tandem mass spectrometry.
