Background: Different dietary habits can have varying effects on human health and metabolism, and these can be intervened and regulated. Kidney stones, as a disease caused by multiple factors, are largely attributed to diet and metabolism, but the potential causal relationship with dietary intake habits remains unclear. Therefore, this study aims to link the predicted dietary intake based on 45 genetic factors with urolithiasis and explore the potential causal relationship.

  • Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) can lead to immune-related adverse events (irAEs), with skin reactions like rash and pruritus being the most common, affecting patients' quality of life.
  • Pruritus often co-exists with other skin issues, and while it’s usually mild, it can become severe and resistant to traditional treatments, posing serious risks.
  • The case of a patient with gallbladder neuroendocrine carcinoma shows that naloxone can effectively relieve refractory pruritus after conventional therapies fail, highlighting the role of clinical pharmacists in creating personalized treatment plans.

Objective: The FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) was used to mine and evaluate adverse events (AEs) associated with cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) 4/6 inhibitors, thereby providing a reference for clinical rational drug use.

Methods: AE data related to CDK4/6 inhibitors from the first quarter of 2015 to the first quarter of 2023 were acquired from FAERS, while the signal mining was processed using the reporting odds ratio (ROR) method and Bayesian confidence propagation neural network (BCPNN) method.

Results: The number of AE reports for CDK4/6 inhibitors was, respectively, 132,494 for palbociclib, 56,151 for ribociclib, and 7,014 for abemaciclib.

Background: Although compliance with the guideline recommendations for heart failure (HF) is associated with improved survival, the effects of medication on clinical practice often fail to meet expectations due to physician and/or patient-related reasons that are unclear. This study analyzed physicians' compliance with guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) based on real-world clinical data and identified risk factors of low compliance.

Methods: This study included patients with HF, who were treated at the Affiliated Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College from July 2017 to June 2021.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on developing new nomograms to predict the overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) of colorectal cancer patients with unresectable liver metastasis after primary surgery, utilizing data from the SEER database.
  • Using Cox regression, the research identified key prognostic factors, such as age, chemotherapy, and tumor characteristics, which significantly influence patient outcomes.
  • The nomograms were found to offer better accuracy and predictive power compared to the traditional TNM classification, as demonstrated by various analytical methods including the C-index, ROC curves, and calibration curves, with validation confirming their effectiveness.

Glioma Medical Research Center and Department of Neurosurgery, The First Affiliated Hospital, Third Military Medical University (Army Medical University), Chongqing 400038, China. Electronic address:

Gliomas, the most common CNS (central nerve system) tumors, face poor survival due to severe chemoresistance exacerbated by hypoxia. However, studies on whether altered hypoxic conditions benefit for chemo-sensitivity and how gliomas react to increased oxygen stimulation are limited. In this study, we demonstrated that increased oxygen stimulation promotes glioma growth and chemoresistance.

Long-term exposure to hyperglycemic conditions leads to β-cell dysfunction, particularly mitochondrial dysfunction, and inflammatory and oxidative stress responses, which are considered the primary causes of β-cell death and the hallmarks of diabetes. Plant-active ingredients may play a key role in glycemic control. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is a characteristic catechin derived from tea that possesses anti-diabetic properties.
