Background: First-pass successful reperfusion (FPSR), defined as a successful/complete reperfusion achieved after a single thrombectomy pass, is predictive of favorable outcome in patients with acute ischemic stroke with large-vessel occlusion. It is unknown whether intravenous tirofiban is effective in increasing the rate of FPSR in acute anterior large-vessel occlusion stroke.

Methods And Results: Patients who had acute large-vessel occlusion stroke presenting within 24 hours and underwent endovascular thrombectomy were analyzed from the RESCUE BT (Intravenous Tirofiban for Patients With Large Vessel Occlusion Stroke) clinical trial, of which the main analysis was neutral.

Background: Approximately half of patients who achieve successful reperfusion do not achieve functional independence. The present study sought to investigate the clinical outcomes and safety of intraarterial or intravenous tirofiban as adjunct therapy in patients with acute basilar artery occlusion who had achieved successful recanalization with endovascular treatment.

Methods And Results: In the national, prospective BASILAR (Endovascular Treatment for Acute Basilar Artery Occlusion Study) registry, 458 patients who met inclusion criteria were divided into 3 groups based on tirofiban administration (no tirofiban, n=262; intravenous tirofiban, n=101; intraarterial+intravenous tirofiban, n=95).

Article Synopsis
  • Coronary microvascular disease (CMVD) poses serious heart health risks, yet there's currently no effective noninvasive way to diagnose it, leading to the exploration of the quantitative flow ratio (QMR) as a potential solution.
  • This study evaluated QMR's ability to predict CMVD symptoms in patients without obstructive coronary artery disease by comparing it to traditional invasive methods, using data from 66 patients and 103 blood vessels.
  • Results indicated that QMR showed strong diagnostic performance with a sensitivity of 82.9% and specificity of 72.6%, suggesting it could be a quicker and more cost-effective alternative for assessing coronary microcirculation.

Background: The role of computed tomography (CT) scans after extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) implantation in patients with refractory cardiac arrest has not been frequently investigated. Early CT scan findings may have many meaningful findings and contribute significantly to patients' outcome. In this study, we sought to determine whether early CT scans in such patients indirectly improved in-hospital survival.

Acquired resistance to osimertinib is inevitable and heterogeneous despite its documented efficacy against EGFR-mutated non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Subsequent therapeutic options assume the dominant form of the resistance mechanism; however, the more rare oncogenic driver, NTRK1 fusion, has also reportedly conferred osimertinib resistance. Nevertheless, clear-cut options when NSCLCs are driven by EGFR mutation and the subsequent NTRK fusion are lacking.

Division of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, Department of Surgery, The First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, 310003, China.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), one of the worst prognosis types of tumors, is characterized by dense extracellular matrix, which compresses tumor vessels and forms a physical barrier to inhibit therapeutic drug penetration and efficacy. Herein, losartan, an antihypertension agent, is applied as a tumor stroma modulator and developed into a nanosystem. A series of lipophilic losartan prodrugs are constructed by esterification of the hydroxyl group on losartan to fatty acids.

Background Myocardial dysfunction is the leading cause of early death following successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in people with cardiac arrest (CA), which is potentially driven by cell pyroptosis mediated by NOD-like receptor pyrin domain 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome. Recently, histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) inhibition was shown to exert effective myocardial protection against regional ischemia/reperfusion injury. In this study, we investigated whether tubastatin A, a specific histone deacetylase 6 inhibitor, could improve postresuscitation myocardial dysfunction through the inhibition of NLRP3-mediated cell pyroptosis and its modulation mechanism.
