Background: The prognostic nutritional index (PNI) and different glucose metabolisms have been separately reported to be correlated with long-term prognosis in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). However, PNI application in patients with an impaired glucose metabolism has not been well validated, especially in pre-diabetic patients. This study evaluated whether PNI influences a long-term risk of mortality along different glucose metabolism statuses.

Background: Immunotherapy resistance has become a difficult point in treating kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) patients, mainly because of immune evasion. Currently, there is no effective signature to predict immunotherapy. Therefore, we use machine learning algorithms to construct a signature based on cytotoxic T lymphocyte evasion genes (CTLEGs) to predict the immunotherapy responses of patients, so as to screen patients effective for immunotherapy.

The intercellular tight junction inhibits tumor imaging efficiency of nanomaterials, and enhanced cellular drug delivery with efficient detection is an important tool for tumor diagnosis. Herein, we fabricate fluorescence gold nanoclusters (Au NCs) decorated gas vesicles (GV-Au) for ultrasound (US)-mediated enhanced cellular delivery and imaging, in which GVs are living cell derived protein bubbles. GV-Au is rod-shaped sack-like structure around 230 nm, and displays improved stability and fluorescence ability compared with free Au NCs.

Background: Obesity is a chronic disease with a high prevalence rate and is an established risk factor for human health. Body mass index (BMI) is a common and primary indicator used in assessing obesity. This work aims to investigate the putative causal relationship among BMI, sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), bioavailable testosterone (BioT), and estradiol levels.

Objective: To underscore the paramount significance of incorporating comprehensive rehabilitation therapy as a crucial aspect of managing lymphedema caused by breast cancer surgery, and to illuminate our first-hand experience and insights gained in utilizing this approach.
Methods: We present a case report of a breast cancer survivor who had been suffering from persistent left upper-limb edema for over 15 years, who was effectively treated with a combination of conventional rehabilitation (seven-step decongestion therapy) and a comprehensive rehabilitation program (seven-step decongestion therapy, along with core and respiratory function training, as well as functional brace wearing). The efficacy of the rehabilitation therapy was evaluated through a comprehensive assessment.

Liver fibrosis is a serious stage of chronic liver injury. Inhibition of hepatic stellate cells activation and hepatocytes apoptosis is important measures in the treatment of liver fibrosis. Studies have shown that exosomes are involved in regulating the information transmission between cells, but there are few studies on the interaction between exosomes from HSC and hepatocytes.

Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) have garnered extensive interest and become a groundbreaking technology to restore movement, tactile sense, and communication in patients. Prior to their use in human subjects, clinical BCIs require rigorous validation and verification (V&V). Non-human primates (NHPs) are often considered the ultimate and widely used animal model for neuroscience studies, including BCIs V&V, due to their proximity to humans.

Background: T-large granular lymphocyte (T-LGL) leukemia is a rare clonal lymphoproliferative disorder, which has a favorable prognosis. There are different complications between Asian and Western patients diagnosed with LGL leukemia. In Asians, pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) is the most common hematological compatible clinical feature of LGL leukemia, whereas in Western patients, rheumatoid arthritis and neutropenia are more commonly seen.

Non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) is a common tumor of the urinary system. Given its high rates of recurrence, progression, and drug resistance, NMIBC seriously affects the quality of life and limits the survival time of patients. Pirarubicin (THP) is a bladder infusion chemotherapy drug recommended by the guidelines for NMIBC.

Background: Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) produces unwanted side-effects that are mainly caused by chemotherapeutic drugs in the treatment of gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, and these effects have not been systematically summarized. The aim of this article was to provide a comprehensive overview of the side-effects of HIPEC for GI cancers and propose practical strategies for adverse event management.
Methodology: PubMed, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library were systematically searched for side-effects of HIPEC in GI cancers prior to October 20, 2022.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) is the most common malignant disease worldwide. Although the survival rate is improved in recent years, the prognosis is still bleak once recurrence and metastasis occur. It is vital to investigate more efficient biomarkers for predicting the metastasis and relapse of BC.

Background: Frequent in-out-in femoral neck screws were reported potential huge iatrogenic-injury risks, related to axial safe target area (ASTA) of femoral neck screws channel. However, orientated-quantitative ASTA based on stable coordinate system was unreported before.
Methods: Three-dimensional reconstruction was performed on computed tomography (CT) images of 139 intact normal hips, and the intersection area, defined as ASTA, was obtained by superimposing the axial CT images of each femoral neck.

RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) are key regulators of transcription and translation, with highly dynamic spatio-temporal regulation. They are usually involved in the regulation of RNA splicing, polyadenylation, and mRNA stability and mediate processes such as mRNA localization and translation, thereby affecting the RNA life cycle and causing the production of abnormal protein phenotypes that lead to tumorigenesis and development. Accumulating evidence supports that RBPs play critical roles in vital life processes, such as bladder cancer initiation, progression, metastasis, and drug resistance.

Background: Mucormycosis commonly occurs in immunosuppressed patients with hematological diseases, which can be life-threatening. However, many cases are often misdiagnosed due to lack of specific clinical manifestations. Additionally, the traditional blood culture or serological testing, with a high false-negative rate, is time-consuming.
