Eltrombopag in severe immune thrombocytopenia secondary to connective tissue disease: a report of 17 patients and literature review.

To assess the remission rate of eltrombopag in the treatment of severe immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) secondary to connective tissue disease (CTD) and to explore factors related to drug efficacy in the context of literature reports, seventeen CTD patients accompanied with severe ITP treated with eltrombopag between June 2019 and February 2021 were included, with their follow-up information recorded. Combined with literature review, patients were divided into two groups depending on whether the treatment was effective or not to determine efficacy-related factors. Totally, 7 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, 6 with Sjögren's syndrome, and 4 with undifferentiated connective tissue disease were enrolled.

Herein, we introduce the unique structures and physicochemical characteristics of silk fibroin, including mechanical properties, biocompatibility, and biodegradability. Then, various preparation strategies of silk fibroin hydrogels are summarized, which can be divided into physical cross-linking and chemical cross-linking.

Structural colors, derived from existing natural creatures, have aroused widespread attention in the materials regulation for different applications. Here, inspired by the color adjusting mechanism of hummingbird, we present a novel shape-memory structural color hydrogel film by introducing shape memory polymers (SMPs) into synthetic inverse opal scaffold structure. The excellent flexibility as well as the inverse opal structure of the hydrogel films imparts them with stable stretchability and brilliant structural colors.

In this work, we report the set-up and results of the Liver Tumor Segmentation Benchmark (LiTS), which was organized in conjunction with the IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI) 2017 and the International Conferences on Medical Image Computing and Computer-Assisted Intervention (MICCAI) 2017 and 2018. The image dataset is diverse and contains primary and secondary tumors with varied sizes and appearances with various lesion-to-background levels (hyper-/hypo-dense), created in collaboration with seven hospitals and research institutions. Seventy-five submitted liver and liver tumor segmentation algorithms were trained on a set of 131 computed tomography (CT) volumes and were tested on 70 unseen test images acquired from different patients.

By reading pain management guidelines and multidisciplinary communication and cooperation, clinical pharmacists designed multi-mode analgesia regimens based on surgical types, in order to provide strong evidence for the effectiveness and safety of postoperative analgesia regimens and better serve patients.

Methods: Data from biliary or pancreatic surgery performed at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital from 2019 to 2021 were collected.

Background & Aims: Among individuals with Child-Pugh B cirrhosis and acute variceal bleeding (AVB), the Baveno VII workshop recommended pre-emptive TIPS in those with a Child-Pugh score of 8-9 and active bleeding at initial endoscopy (Child B8-9 + AB criteria). Nevertheless, whether this criterion is superior to the CLIF-Consortium acute decompensation score (CLIF-C ADs) remains unclear.

Methods: Data on 1,021 consecutive individuals with Child-Pugh B cirrhosis and AVB from 13 university hospitals in China who were treated with pre-emptive TIPS (n = 297) or drug plus endoscopic treatment (n = 724) between 2010 to 2019 were retrospectively analysed.

Rhythm Mild-Temperature Photothermal Therapy Enhancing Immunogenic Cell Death Response in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

The low antitumor efficiency and unexpected thermo-tolerance activation of mild-temperature photothermal therapy (mPTT) severely impede the therapeutic efficacy, thereby the implementation of reasonable mPTT procedure to improve antitumor efficiency is of great significance for clinical transformation. Herein, a rhythm mPTT with organic photothermal nanoparticles (PBDB-T NPs) is demonstrated, synergistically increasing tumor elimination and intense immunogenic cancer cell death (ICD) to elicit tumor-specific immune responses for tumor treatment. Specifically, PBDB-T NPs are characterized by favorable biocompatibility, excellent and controllable photothermal properties, exhibit the properties of noninvasive diagnostic imaging, and effective mPTT against oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC).
