Objective: This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) based radiomic features for predicting epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation status in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with brain metastases.

Methods: We systematically searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Scopus, Wanfang, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) for studies published up to April 30, 2024. We included those studies that utilized MRI-based radiomic features to detect EGFR mutations in NSCLC patients with brain metastases.

Background: The need for primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and staged PCI strategy for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) with multivessel coronary disease is well documented. This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency, safety, and cost benefit of quantitative flow ratio (QFR)-guided staged PCI in patients with STEMI.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study involving 2256 patients meeting STEMI criteria having at least one lesion (≥50 %) in non-infarct-related (NIR) arteries.

Background: Spinal cord injury (SCI) is devastating diseases affecting the degeneration of the spinal column, and vascular problems. However, the currently available therapeutic interventions are insufficient to address the effect of SCI which leads to significant impact on the morbidity and mortality of patients. In the present manuscript, we intend to investigate the pharmacological effect of geraniin on the SCI in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats.

Objectives: Our objective was to establish a rapid and precise method for detecting hypervirulent (hvKP) by utilizing a duplex real-time multienzyme isothermal rapid amplification (real-time MIRA) and to evaluate its performance in clinical spiked blood specimens.

Methods: The research comprised two phases: an initial pilot study to establish the methodology and a clinical validation study to assess its effectiveness. In the pilot phase, we designed specific primers and probes targeting the hvKP and genes and subsequently developed a duplex real-time MIRA assay to evaluate its detection limits, specificity, and efficiency.

This study introduces a novel self-supervised learning method for single-frame subtraction and vessel segmentation in coronary angiography, addressing the scarcity of annotated medical samples in AI applications. We pretrain a U-Net model on a large dataset of unannotated coronary angiograms using an image-to-image translation framework, then fine-tune it on a limited set of manually annotated samples. The pretrained model excels at comprehensive single-frame subtraction, outperforming existing DSA methods.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the safety and effectiveness of using LEO stents in dual stent-assisted embolization (DSAE) for treating wide-necked intracranial bifurcation aneurysms, along with the impact of tirofiban infusion on reducing complications.
  • Clinical data from 562 patients treated at a hospital were analyzed, focusing on a subset of 65 patients who underwent DSAE with LEO stents, noting success rates, complications, and patient outcomes.
  • Results showed a high success rate with minimal complications, as most patients had favorable immediate and follow-up outcomes, demonstrating that the use of LEO stents is a promising option for this condition.

A preliminary prediction model of pediatric Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia based on routine blood parameters by using machine learning method.

BMC Infect Dis

July 2024

Department of Laboratory Medicine, The Affiliated Dazu's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing, 402360, China.

Background: The prevalence and severity of pediatric Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) poses a significant threat to the health and lives of children. In this study, we aim to systematically evaluate the value of routine blood parameters in predicting MPP and develop a robust and generalizable ensemble artificial intelligence (AI) model to assist in identifying patients with MPP.

Methods: We collected 27 features, including routine blood parameters and hs-CRP levels, from patients admitted to The Affiliated Dazu's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University with or without MPP between January, 2023 and January, 2024.
