Department of Nutrition and Food Hygiene, Center for Global Health, School of Public Health, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, Jiangsu 211166, China; Institute for Brain Tumors, Jiangsu Key Lab of Cancer Biomarkers, Prevention and Treatment, Collaborative Innovation Center for Cancer Personalized Medicine, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, Jiangsu 211166, China. Electronic address:

Chemoradiotherapy is a conventional treatment modality for patients with glioblastoma (GBM). However, the efficacy of this approach is significantly hindered by the development of therapeutic resistance. The thioredoxin system, which plays a crucial role in maintaining redox homeostasis, confers protection to cancer cells against apoptosis induced by chemoradiotherapy.

Department of Emergency Medicine, The First People's Hospital of Changzhou, The Third Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, Changzhou, Jiangsu, China.

Liver fibrosis represents a reversible pathophysiological process, caused by chronic inflammation stemming from hepatocyte damage. It delineates the initial stage in the progression of chronic liver disease. This pathological progression is characterized by the excessive accumulation of the extracellular matrix (ECM), which leads to significant structural disruption and ultimately impairs liver function.

Disulfidptosis, a recently identified pathway of cellular demise, served as the focal point of this research, aiming to pinpoint relevant lncRNAs that differentiate between hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with and without vascular invasion while also forecasting survival rates and responses to immunotherapy in patients with vascular invasion (VI+). First, we identified 300 DRLRs in the TCGA database. Subsequently, utilizing univariate analysis, LASSO-Cox proportional hazards modeling, and multivariate analytical approaches, we selected three DRLRs (AC009779.

Objective: To develop and validate a nomogram for predicting non-retrieval of the short-term retrievable inferior vena cava (IVC) filters.

Methods: In this study, univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify predictive factors of short-term retrievable filter (Aegisy or OptEase) non-retrieval, and a nomogram was then established based on these factors. The nomogram was created based on data from a training cohort and validated based on data from a validation cohort.

The Department of Hepato-biliary-pancreatic Surgery, The Institute of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Diseases, The Affiliated Changzhou Second People's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Changzhou, PR China; Changzhou Medical Center, Nanjing Medical University, Changzhou, PR China. Electronic address:

Background: Abnormal antioxidant capacity in cancer cells is intimately linked to tumor aggressiveness. Modulating oxidative stress status and inhibiting ferroptosis represents a novel anticancer therapeutic strategy. STAM Binding Protein Like 1 (STAMBPL1), a deubiquitinase, is implicated in various malignancies, yet its function in inhibiting ferroptosis and therapeutic potential for cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) remains unexplored.

Background: Flushing catheter seems to be a crucial procedure for preventing centrally inserted central catheter (CICC) occlusion, which can flush the liquid and blood attached to the lumen into the bloodstream. The continuous infusion technique is characterized by continuous perfusion of flushing fluid and maintaining positive pressure in the lumen, which has been demonstrated to effectively prevent peripheral indwelling needle occlusion. However, the use of continuous infusion technique in CICC care among critically ill patients has been rarely described.

Chicoric acid (CA) as one of Chinese medicines had anti-inflammatory, less gastrointestinal irritation, less drug-resistance and low cost properties compared with chemical synthesized drug and biologics for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treatment. To make CA preciously and effectly RA therapy, we firstly developed a supramolecular hydrogel (GHCAP) comprising β-cyclodextrin and graphene oxide (GO) modified hyaluronic acid (CD-HA-GO) as the "host" polymer and adamantane-modified four-arm polyethylene glycol (PEG-AD) as the "guest" polymer, and then the CA was loaded into the supramolecular hydrogel (DGHCAP). The results showed that DGHCAP exhibited injectable, high modulus, high CA loading rate (43.

Extremely unbalanced data here refers to datasets where the values of independent or dependent variables exhibit severe unbalance in proportions, such as extremely unbalanced case-control ratio, very low incidence rate of disease, heavily censored time-to-event data, and low-frequency or rare variants. In such scenarios, the statistic derived from hypothesis test using the classical statistical method, e.g.

Transcriptional enhanced associate domain (Tead)-mediated Hippo signaling pathway regulates diverse physiological processes; its dysfunction has been implicated in an increasing number of human gynecological cancers. The transcriptional coactivator with PDZ-binding motif (Taz) binds to and then activates Tead through forming a three-helix bundle (THB) at their complex interface. The THB is defined by a double-helical hairpin from Tead and a single α-helix from Taz, serving as the key interaction hotspot between Tead and Taz.

Purpose: The polarization of macrophages towards the pro-inflammatory M1 phenotype and osteoclast overactivation play a significant role in the pathogenesis of aseptic loosening of orthopedic implants. This study sought to examine the expression and activation of macrophages and osteoclasts in implant biopsies with respect to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling and to assess the potential of EGFR inhibition in mitigating titanium particle-induced bone resorption in a cranial resorption murine model.

Methods: Bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) were stimulated with Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α) and Interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) initially.

Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, 211166, China; The Department of Hepato-biliary-pancreatic Surgery, The Institute of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Diseases, The Affiliated Changzhou Second People's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Changzhou, China. Electronic address:

The study highlights that RPS21, a gene encoding a component of the 40S ribosomal subunit, plays an oncogenic role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and may influence tumor aggressiveness by affecting antioxidant capacity. RPS21 was found to be upregulated in HCC through RNA-sequencing of clinical samples and analysis of the TCGA database. Kaplan-Meier survival analyses linked higher RPS21 expression to lower survival rates across multiple metrics (OS, PFS, RFS, DSS).

  • This study examines the effectiveness and safety of dinoprostone versus double-balloon catheters (DBC) for cervical ripening in primipara women during labor induction.
  • A total of 877 women were split into two groups based on the method used, with the study comparing natural birth rates, time to labor, and complications for both groups.
  • Results indicated that dinoprostone led to a better Bishop score and lower rates of puerperal infection compared to DBC, but without a significant difference in overall vaginal delivery success rates.
