Background: To develop and validate an innovative predictive model that integrates multisequence magnetic resonance (MR) radiomics, deep learning features, and clinical indicators to accurately predict the recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after thermal ablation.

Methods: This retrospective multicenter cohort study enrolled patients who were diagnosed with HCC and treated via thermal ablation. We extracted radiomic features from multisequence 3T MR images, analyzed these images using a 3D convolutional neural network (3D CNN), and incorporated clinical data into the model.

  • Formononetin (FMN) is a natural compound from certain plants that may help fight diseases, especially liver problems.
  • This study showed that FMN protects mice from liver damage caused by specific chemicals and helps stop certain liver cells from turning bad.
  • FMN works by changing the way certain proteins act in the liver, which helps older cells survive and reduces liver scarring.

  • Adoptive cell therapy (ACT) is a new way to treat cancer by using special immune cells called T cells.
  • The success of ACT relies on how healthy and 'young' these T cells are, making them more powerful against cancer.
  • Researchers created a simple method to grow these strong T cells from blood samples, which keeps them in a better state for attacking cancer cells.

Department of Psychiatry, Henan Key Lab of Biological Psychiatry, International Joint Research Laboratory for Psychiatry and Neuroscience of Henan of Xinxiang Medical University, Henan Collaborative Innovation Center of Prevention and treatment of mental disorder, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical University (Henan Mental Hospital), Xinxiang, 453002, China.

Leukemia is a type of hematological malignancy (HM) caused by uncontrolled proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). Leukemia cells proliferate greatly in the bone marrow (BM), infiltrate other tissues and organs, and affect the normal hematopoietic function. Although the emergence of new targeted agents and immune agents has improved the prognosis of patients, due to the complex pathogenic factors and heterogeneity of leukemia, there are still some patients with poor prognosis.

  • Sacituzumab govitecan (SG) was shown to significantly improve progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in Asian patients with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer compared to chemotherapy in the EVER-132-002 study.
  • The study involved 331 patients, where those receiving SG had a median PFS of 4.3 months and an OS of 21.0 months, outperforming the chemotherapy group which had a PFS of 4.2 months and OS of 15.3 months.
  • Common severe side effects were neutropenia, leukopenia, and anemia, but SG's safety profile was considered manageable and consistent with earlier research, making it a

  • Microangiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis play a crucial role in the growth and spread of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), affecting tumor progression and patient prognosis.
  • A study analyzed 100 ESCC tissues and 100 adjacent normal tissues, measuring microvascular density (MVD) and lymphatic vessel density (LVD) using specific markers, revealing significantly higher levels in tumor tissues.
  • Both high MVD and LVD were linked to worse outcomes for patients, including increased lymph node metastasis and more advanced stages of cancer, suggesting that these markers can be valuable for assessing prognosis.

Background: The vast majority of pancreatic cancers have been shown to be insensitive to single-agent immunotherapy. Exploring the mechanisms of immune resistance and implementing combination therapeutic strategies are crucial for PDAC patients to derive benefits from immunotherapy. Deletion of BAP1 occurs in approximately 27% of PDAC patients and is significantly correlated with poor prognosis, but the mechanism how BAP1-deletion compromises survival of patients with PDAC remain a puzzle.

State Key Laboratory of Biocatalysis and Enzyme Engineering, School of Life Sciences, Hubei University, Wuhan, Hubei, 430042, China.

The CRISPR-Cas12a system has revolutionized nucleic acid testing (NAT) with its rapid and precise capabilities, yet it traditionally required RNA pre-amplification. Here we develop rapid fluorescence and lateral flow NAT assays utilizing a split Cas12a system (SCas12a), consisting of a Cas12a enzyme and a split crRNA. The SCas12a assay enables highly sensitive, amplification-free, and multiplexed detection of miRNAs and long RNAs without complex secondary structures.

Article Synopsis
  • Triple-negative essential thrombocytopenia (TN-ET) lacks driver mutations but still meets diagnostic criteria, prompting a study to understand its clinical and molecular characteristics and link them to platelet activation and thrombotic risks.
  • A multicenter study compared 138 TN-ET patients to 759 ET patients with the JAK2V617F mutation, revealing that TN-ET patients tended to be younger and had fewer thrombotic events both before diagnosis and during follow-up.
  • Results indicated that TN-ET patients had lower platelet activation and reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, correlating with a reduced risk of thrombosis compared to those with the JAK2V617F mutation.
