In 2020, the Yangtze-Huai river valley (YHRV) experienced the highest record-breaking Meiyu season since 1961, which was mainly characterized by the longest duration of precipitation lasting from early-June to mid-July, with frequent heavy rainstorms that caused severe flooding and deaths in China. Many studies have investigated the causes of this Meiyu season and its evolution, but the accuracy of precipitation simulations has received little attention. It is important to provide more accurate precipitation forecasts to help prevent and reduce flood disasters, thereby facilitating the maintenance of a healthy and sustainable earth ecosystem.

Strict lockdowns were implemented in China to fight Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). We explored the nighttime light (NTL) of China's four cities in five stages of COVID-19 including case free period, newly appeared period, rising period, outbreak period, and stationary period. Using six categories of points of interest data ("company," "recreation," "healthcare," "residence," "shopping," and "traffic facility") and random forest models, we found that dimming light of four cities is associated with the epidemic development and human activity changes.

The resumption of work and production is one of the key issues during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) post-epidemic phase. We used location-based service data of mobile devices to assess the work resumption of 22,098 hospitals in mainland China. The multiscale influences of the determinants on work resumption in hospitals, including medical-service capacity, human movement, and epidemic severity, were examined using the multiscale geographically weighted regression technique.
