Key Laboratory of Marine Materials and Related Technologies, Zhejiang Key Laboratory of Marine Materials and Protective Technologies, Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering (NIMTE), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ningbo, 315201, P. R. China.

The challenges associated with heat dissipation in high-power electronic devices used in communication, new energy, and aerospace equipment have spurred an urgent need for high-performance thermal interface materials (TIMs) to establish efficient heat transfer pathways from the heater (chip) to heat sinks. Recently, emerging 2D materials, such as graphene and boron nitride, renowned for their ultrahigh basal-plane thermal conductivity and the capacity to facilitate cross-scale, multi-morphic structural design, have found widespread use as thermal fillers in the production of high-performance TIMs. To deepen the understanding of 2D material-based TIMs, this review focuses primarily on graphene and boron nitride-based TIMs, exploring their structures, properties, and applications.

Cold atom microwave clock based on intracavity cooling in China space station.

NPJ Microgravity

June 2024

Aerospace Laser Technology and Systems Department, Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai, 201800, China.

Atomic clocks with higher frequency stability and accuracy than traditional space-borne atomic clocks are the cornerstone of long-term autonomous operation of space-time-frequency systems. We proposed a space cold atoms clock based on an intracavity cooling scheme, which captures cold atoms at the center of a microwave cavity and then executes in situ interactions between the cold atoms and microwaves. As a result of the microgravity environment in space, the cold atoms can interact with the microwaves for a longer time, which aids in realizing a high-precision atomic clock in space.

Pharmacologically inducing anoikis offers novel therapeutic opportunities in hepatocellular carcinoma.

Biomed Pharmacother

July 2024

Department of Peripheral Vascular Intervention, Aerospace Center Hospital, Peking University Aerospace School of Clinical Medicine, Beijing 100049, China. Electronic address:

Tumor metastasis occurs in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), leading to tumor progression and therapeutic failure. Anoikis is a matrix detachment-induced apoptosis, also known as detachment-induced cell death, and mechanistically prevents tumor cells from escaping their native extracellular matrix to metastasize to new organs. Deciphering the regulators and mechanisms of anoikis in cancer metastasis is urgently needed to treat HCC.

July 2024

State Key Laboratory of Digital Medical Engineering, Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Zhongda Hospital, School of Life Sciences and Technology, School of Medicine, Advanced Institute for Life and Health, Jiangsu Province High-Tech Key Laboratory for Bio-Medical Research, Southeast University, Nanjing, 210096, China.

Nerve guidance conduits (NGCs) are considered as promising treatment strategy and frontier trend for peripheral nerve regeneration, while their therapeutic outcomes are limited by the lack of controllable drug delivery and available physicochemical cues. Herein, novel aligned piezoelectric nanofibers derived hydrogel NGCs with ultrasound (US)-triggered electrical stimulation (ES) and controllable drug release for repairing peripheral nerve injury are proposed. The inner layer of the NGCs is the barium titanate piezoelectric nanoparticles (BTNPs)-doped polyvinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene [BTNPs/P(VDF-TrFE)] electrospinning nanofibers with improved piezoelectricity and aligned orientation.

Key Laboratory of Molecular Medicine and Biotherapy, Aerospace Center Hospital, School of Life Science, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, 100081, China.

Article Synopsis
  • Defense-associated sirtuin 2 (DSR2) systems in prokaryotes help protect against phage infections by targeting phage tail tube proteins and reducing intracellular NAD, leading to abortive infections.
  • The study reveals cryo-EM structures of DSR2 in different states, showing it forms a tetramer with enzymatic modules and highlights how the monomeric Tube protein binds to DSR2 to activate its function.
  • DSR Anti Defense 1 (DSAD1) inhibits DSR2 by competing for the same binding site as the Tube protein, thus providing a mechanism for phages to counteract bacterial defenses.

Neural oscillations are critical to understanding the synchronisation of neural activities and their relevance to neurological disorders. For instance, the amplitude of beta oscillations in the subthalamic nucleus has gained extensive attention, as it has been found to correlate with medication status and the therapeutic effects of continuous deep brain stimulation in people with Parkinson's disease. However, the frequency stability of subthalamic nucleus beta oscillations, which has been suggested to be associated with dopaminergic information in brain states, has not been well explored.

The solid electrolyte LiGePS (LGPS) plays a crucial role in the development of all-solid-state batteries and has been widely studied both experimentally and theoretically. The properties of solid electrolytes, such as thermodynamic stability, conductivity, band gap, and more, are closely related to their ground-state structures. However, the presence of site-disordered co-occupancy of Ge/P and defective fractional occupancy of lithium ions results in an exceptionally large number of possible atomic configurations (structures).
