Over the last decade, field assessments of the yellow rust differential lines for resistance genes Yr10 and Yr24 and race analysis in the Middle East have demonstrated efficient yellow rust control by Yr10 and Yr24 (=Yr26). Yellow rust samples collected during 2018-21 in Central West Asia & North and sub-Saharan Africa underwent race analysis at the Regional Cereal Rust Research Center in Izmir, Türkiye. In this research, we aimed to evaluate the effects of various medicinal and aromatic plant aqueous extracts on physicochemical, rheological, sensorial properties of probiotic yogurts and the viability of yogurt bacteria and probiotic bacteria during the storage period. On the 28 day of storage, the maximum Bifidobacterium longum and Lacticaseibacillus casei counts were determined in thyme containing yogurt and mint and basil containing yogurt, respectively. On the 1st day of storage, the most favoured yogurt was garlic containing sample while on the 14th day, the control sample was the most favoured one.

In this study, aqueous extracts of some medicinal and aromatic plants (garlic, Turkish Oregano, rosemary, basil, and peppermint) were used in probiotic yogurt production to increase functionality of probiotic yogurt. The in vitro antidiabetic, antioxidant activity, total phenolic compound content and phenolic compounds of yogurts were evaluated during the 28 day of storage period. Yogurt sample with Turkish Oregano had the highest α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibitory activity.

Many studies to date on the response of cherry flower buds to frost have focused on visual evaluations by observing tissue browning after frost event in the orchard and laboratory conditions but only little knowledge is available on the consequences of intracellular ice formation on cellular ultrastructure that underlies exothermic reactions during bud burst stages. In this study, the differential thermal analysis (DTA) method was used to investigate critical frost temperatures for the sweet cherry cultivars '0900-Ziraat', 'Erzincan Macar', 'Lambert', 'Vista', 'Stella', and 'Early Burlat' under laboratory-based freeze assays. In the course of our experimental study, frost tolerance or cell death points (CDPs) of flowers of six cherry cultivars were investigated in consecutive phenological stages from the start to the end of blooming, for 2 years.
