Objectives: Part 1 of the RUBY trial (NCT03981796) demonstrated improved survival in patients with primary advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer (EC) treated with dostarlimab plus carboplatin-paclitaxel versus placebo plus carboplatin-paclitaxel. Here, we examine additional efficacy and safety data from patients with mismatch repair deficient/microsatellite instability-high (dMMR/MSI-H) EC in the RUBY trial.

Methods: Patients were randomized 1:1 to dostarlimab 500 mg or placebo plus carboplatin-paclitaxel every 3 weeks for 6 cycles followed by dostarlimab or placebo every 6 weeks for up to 3 years.

Background: In Part 1 of the phase III RUBY trial (NCT03981796) in patients with primary advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer (EC), dostarlimab plus carboplatin-paclitaxel (CP) significantly improved progression-free survival and overall survival compared with CP alone. Limited safety data have been reported for the combination of immunotherapies plus chemotherapy in this setting.

Objectives: The objective of this analysis was to identify the occurrence of treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs) and immune-related adverse events (irAEs) and to describe irAE management in Part 1 of the RUBY trial.

Background: Cardiac arrest is a common and devastating emergency of both the heart and brain. More than 380,000 patients suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrest annually in the USA. Induced cooling of comatose patients markedly improved neurological and functional outcomes in pivotal randomized clinical trials, but the optimal duration of therapeutic hypothermia has not yet been established.

Background: Part 1 of the RUBY trial (NCT03981796) evaluated dostarlimab plus carboplatin-paclitaxel compared with placebo plus carboplatin-paclitaxel in patients with primary advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer (EC). At the first interim analysis, the trial met one of its dual primary endpoints with statistically significant progression-free survival benefits in the mismatch repair-deficient/microsatellite instability-high (dMMR/MSI-H) and overall populations. Overall survival (OS) results are reported from the second interim analysis.

Introduction: Satisfactory management of acute pain remains a major medical challenge despite the availability of multiple therapeutic options including the fixed-dose combination (FDC) drugs. Tramadol and dexketoprofen trometamol (TRAM/DKP) 75/25 mg FDC was launched in 2018 in Asia and is widely used in the management of moderate to severe acute pain. There are limited data on its effectiveness and safety in Asian patients, and therefore, a need to better understand its usage patterns in clinical practice.

Euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis (EuDKA) is an uncommon diabetic complication. Just like diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), EuDKA is a medical emergency. EuDKA is primarily related to the imbalance between insulin and counter-regulatory hormones, with an elevated insulin/glucagon ratio, and is characterized by blood glucose near normal (blood glucose less than 250 mg/dL) in the background of DKA.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the HIV crisis in the Philippines worsened and triggered a chain reaction that disrupted the provision and utilization of HIV services. This study aims to fill in the gap in knowledge by exploring the possible association between sociodemographic characteristics and the barriers to ART adherence for PLHIV in the Philippines at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. A cross-sectional study was performed by using a survey questionnaire, which was distributed via online social media (Twitter).

The occurrence of renal failure is higher among African Americans in comparison to individuals of other descents, indicating a disproportionate representation. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) poses a significant healthcare burden that disproportionately affects low-income and minority communities. There are various factors that drive the progression and deterioration of CKD to its advanced stages.

Aims: While cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is often obtained early in the evaluation of suspected cardiac amyloidosis (CA), it currently cannot be utilized to differentiate immunoglobulin (AL) and transthyretin (ATTR) CA. We aimed to determine whether a novel CMR and light-chain biomarker-based algorithm could accurately diagnose ATTR-CA.

Methods And Results: Patients with confirmed AL or ATTR-CA with typical late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) and Look-Locker pattern for CA on CMR were retrospectively identified at three academic medical centres.

Providing End-of-Life Care to COVID-19 Patients: The Lived Experiences of ICU Nurses in the Philippines.

Int J Environ Res Public Health

In the midst of COVID-19, radical change in the work environment further exacerbated the detrimental effects of critical illness in the intensive care unit (ICU). This may be heightened if the patient experiences a lamentable end-of-life experience due to inadequate end-of-life care (EoLC). Anchoring on the theory of bureaucratic caring and the peaceful end-of-life theory, insights can be gained into the motivations and behaviors that support the delivery of palliative care during COVID-19.

The following literature search is in response to inquiries made to the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) regarding antiobesity medication (AOM) use in patients who are having or have already had metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS). These recommendations are based on current clinical knowledge, expert opinion, and published peer-reviewed scientific evidence available at this time. This paper is not intended to establish a local, regional, or national standard of care.

Introduction: Throughout the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, studies have repeatedly shown that COVID-19 outcomes are more severe in the elderly and those with comorbidities, with diabetes being a significant risk factor associated with more severe infection. Here, we present the clinical characteristics of 25 patients with pre-existing type 2 diabetes mellitus who presented with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and COVID-19 in a community hospital in Brooklyn, New York, and identify possible predictors of mortality.

Methods: This retrospective case series recruited patients from March 1st to April 9th, 2020, with lab-confirmed COVID-19 and met DKA criteria on admission (based on American Diabetes Association diagnostic criteria for DKA).

Background: This study aims to add to the body of evidence linking obesity as an established risk factor for COVID-19 infection and also look at predictors of mortality for COVID-19 in the African-Americans (AA) population.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study of patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection was done in a community hospital in New York City. The cohort was divided into two groups, with the non-obese group having a BMI < 30 kg/m and the obese group with a BMI ≥ 30 kg/m.

Globally, the burden of musculoskeletal conditions continues to rise, disproportionately affecting low and middle-income countries (LMICs). The ability to meet these orthopaedic surgical care demands remains a challenge. To help address these issues, many orthopaedic surgeons seek opportunities to provide humanitarian assistance to the populations in need.

Immune checkpoint inhibitor-related neurotoxicity causing Guillain Barre Syndrome is relatively uncommon. We discussed an 80-year-old patient with known systemic lupus erythematosus who presented with lower extremity weakness, areflexia and then progressed to respiratory muscle and upper extremity weakness after receiving immunotherapy with checkpoint inhibitors for metastatic bladder cancer. With the increasing use of immunotherapy for the management of cancer, awareness of neurological autoimmune side effects is essential.

Disseminated complex (MAC) and infections have almost similar clinical presentations but require different therapeutic management. A duplex PCR was designed based on the sequence variation between the genes encoding catalase-peroxidase (KatG) of complex and , so as to discriminate MAC, and mixed mycobacterial (MAC + ) infections in HIV patients. An accurate, single-step differential diagnosis of disseminated mycobacterial infections in HIV patients was achieved with specific detection of a single band each for (120 bp) and  (90 bp) and two bands for the mixed (120 and 90 bp) infections.
