Radiation molecularly transforms naturally occurring products by inducing the methoxylation, hydroxylation, and alkylation of parent compounds, thereby affecting the anti-inflammatory capacities of those compounds. Minaprine (1) modified by ionizing radiation generated the novel hydroxymethylation hydropyridazine (2), and its chemical structure was determined based on NMR and HRESIMS spectra. Compared to the original minaprine, the novel generated product showed a highly enhanced anti-inflammatory capacity inhibited nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin E (PGE) production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW 264.

Purpose: Reproduction inhibition of the pine wood nematode (PWN) by electron beam (e-beam) irradiation both in vitro and in vivo was tested to determine if ionizing radiation could control the PWN by reducing survival and preventing reproduction, thus reducing the risk of pine wilt disease (PWD) spread.
Materials And Methods: E-beam (10 MeV) irradiation treatment at different doses (0-4 kGy) was applied to PWNs in a Petri dish. Treatment of pine wood logs infested with PWNs was performed at 10 kGy.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common respiratory pathogen that causes lower respiratory diseases among infants and elderly people. Moreover, formalin-inactivated RSV (FI-RSV) vaccine induces serious enhanced respiratory disease (ERD). A rapid and simple enzymatic transformation of the representative coumarin esculetin (1) with polyphenol oxidase originating from Agaricus bisporus afforded five new oxidized metabolites, esculetinins A (2), B (3), C (4), D (5), and E (6), together with the known compound isoeuphorbetin (7). The structures of the oligomerized transformation products were established on the basis of spectroscopic interpretations. A novel actinobacterial strain, designated AGMB00827, was isolated from swine faeces. Strain AGMB00827 was obligately anaerobic, Gram-stain-positive, non-motile, non-spore-forming and rod-shaped bacterium. Comparative analyses based on the 16S rRNA gene and whole genome sequence revealed that strain AGMB00827 was affiliated to the genus Collinsella, and was most closely related to Collinsella vaginalis Marseille-P2666 (= KCTC 25056).

Red and blue artificial light sources are commonly used as photosynthetic lighting in smart farm facilities, and they can affect the metabolisms of various primary and secondary metabolites.
