Background: Non-eruptive calcium nodules (CNs) are commonly seen in heavily calcified coronary artery disease. They are the most difficult subset for modification, and may result in stent damage, malapposition and under-expansion. There are only limited options available for non-eruptive CN modification.

The index study aimed to investigate the clinical impact of initial high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) on outcomes in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (AF). Single-center, prospective, observational study recruiting all recently diagnosed treatment-naive AF patients. Hs-CRP was measured at baseline and patients were followed for 24 months.

Background: Among the two stent strategies, contemporary evidence favors double kissing crush technique (DKC) for complex unprotected distal left main bifurcation (UdLMB) lesions. However one of the major challenges to these lesions is side branch (SB) restenosis.
Aims: Our aim was to identify optical coherence tomographic (OCT) characteristics that may predict SB restenosis (SBR) after UdLMB angioplasty using DKC technique.

Major aortopulmonary collaterals (APCs) are more common with tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) with pulmonary atresia. Collateral arteries, when present, arise most commonly from the descending thoracic aorta, less commonly from the subclavian arteries, and rarely from the abdominal aorta or its branches or from the coronary arteries. Collaterals arising from the coronary arteries can cause myocardial ischemia due to coronary steal phenomenon.

Background: Pulmonary mucormycosis has been associated with high mortality (reported up to 100%) in renal transplant recipients.
Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of renal transplant patients with pulmonary mucormycosis between April 2014 and March 2020, who underwent surgical resection of the affected lung along with liposomal amphotericin therapy. Patients with lower respiratory illness features underwent chest X-ray, high-resolution computed tomography of the chest, and those with suspicious findings underwent analysis of bronchioloalveolar fluid and transbronchial lung biopsy.

Ortner's syndrome is hoarseness of the voice caused by enlarged cardiac structures compressing the left recurrent laryngeal nerve (LRLN). The LRLN is vulnerable for impingement by cardiac structures due to its anatomical course. LRLN is longer and it hooks below the arch of the aorta, posterior to the ligamentum arteriosum before ascending toward the tracheo- esophageal groove.

Fetal cardiac intervention is an in-utero cardiac procedure done in fetuses with heart diseases like severe aortic stenosis with evolving hypoplastic left heart syndrome, hypoplastic left heart syndrome with an intact or restricted atrial septum, pulmonary atresia with an intact ventricular septum, fetal heart block obstructed total anomalous pulmonary venous return, pericardial collection. The successful biventricular repair can be done in postnatal life after aortic or pulmonary valvuloplasty. Fetal bypass is very challenging because of different physiology.

Introduction: Sparse data and conflicting evidence exist on the prevalence and prognosis of organophosphate (OP)-related cardiac toxicity. We aimed to characterize the cardiac abnormalities of OP after an acute cholinergic crisis in adults without previous cardiovascular conditions.
Patients And Methods: We did a prospective observational study in a tertiary-care hospital of north India (Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh) in 74 patients aged ≥ 13 years admitted with acute OP poisoning after self-ingestion.

Background: Single coronary artery (SCA) is a rare congenital coronary anomaly with incidence of 8-66 per 100 000 cases. Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with SCA is technically challenging. This is a case of bifurcation angioplasty involving left anterior descending/right coronary artery (LAD/RCA) in a patient with SCA and 1-year follow-up with computed tomography coronary angiography (CTCA).

The bidirectional Glenn surgery is a life-saving palliative surgery in patients with univentricular cardiac anatomy and physiology. This procedure can be performed either under cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) or off CPB. In this article, we will present a new innovative technique, which was performed on 6 individuals of age ranging from 2 to 18 years and followed up over a few months, which is effective, less morbid, as well as simple, safe, economically more viable, and is easily reproducible.

Infective endocarditis (IE) is a serious condition leading to heart failure, persistent sepsis. The management of IE involving valve is mainly excision of the infected valve and replacement with a heart valve; which are also at the risk of prosthetic valve endocarditis. Hence repair of the valve with autologous pericardium is much more physiological.

Background: Sepsis-induced myocardial dysfunction has implications on outcome. For lack of echocardiography in resource-limited settings, myocardial biomarkers may be an alternative monitoring tool.
Objective: This study was planned to explore the longitudinal behavior of creatine phosphokinase-MB (CPK-MB) in children with sepsis with and without shock, and its correlation with clinical and echocardiographic parameters over the first 10 days.

The most common cardiac tumour in the pediatric age group is rhabdomyoma. These are usually located in the ventricles, either in the ventricular septum or free wall. Cardiac tumours in early infancy may lead to severely compromised blood flow due to inflow or outflow tract obstruction.

Chronic constrictive pericarditis (CCP) is the most common pericardial pathology. CCP complicating with intracardiac thrombus is a rare entity, the detection of thrombus preoperatively is life-saving in avoiding the risk of pulmonary thromboembolism during anterior pericardiectomy. Transesophageal echocardiography has been shown to have better sensitivity in detecting atrial thrombus than transthoracic echocardiography.

Primary cardiac tumors are relatively rare, and myxoma, the most common variety, is found predominantly in the left atrium. Clinical presentation varies from asymptomatic incidental masses to serious life-threatening cardiovascular complications. Some cases are difficult to diagnose, as symptoms can be nonspecific.

Traumatic aortic transection is a life threatening emergency where there is a near-complete tear through all the layers of the aorta due to trauma. This condition is most often lethal and requires immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an aortic rupture may include severe chest pain, back pain, abdominal pain and signs of external chest injury.

Accidental and iatrogenic foreign body injuries to heart require immediate attention and its timely management is cornerstone to the life of an individual. We describe in detail five cases of Accidental and iatrogenic foreign body injuries to heart encountered between January 2013 and July 2016. Our series included the following: needle stick injury to the right atrium (1 case) retained catheter fragments in the distal main pulmonary artery (1 case), right ventricle injury during catheterisation study (1 case), right ventricle injury during permanent pacemaker lead placement (1 case), device migration in atrial septal defect closure (1 case).

Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency is among the most common enzymatic disorders of red blood cells. Cardiac surgeries on this group of individuals are associated with an additional risk in terms of impaired oxygenation, prolonged ventilation and increased risk of haemolysis. These patients have a very low threshold for haemolysis due to oxidative stress.

Background: Transcatheter closure of various congenital and acquired vascular malformations with Amplatzer Vascular plugs I and II has been established. Here we present our experience with device closure.
Materials And Methods: Between October 2006 and August 2012, nine (three males and six females) patients aged between 11 months and 62 years (mean age 19 years) underwent percutaneous device closure with AVP I and II vascular plugs for congenital and acquired arteriovenous malformation and cardiac diverticulum are presented here.
