To improve the quality of life for people living with HIV (PLWH), it is vital their treatment plans closely follow the HIV care continuum. However, many barriers, such as mental health disorders (MHD), can complicate treatment. Patients being treated for HIV with comorbid MHD are more likely to not be retained in care and maintain an unsuppressed viral load.

Background: Progression along the HIV care continuum has been a key focus for improving outcomes for people with HIV (PWH). Transgender women with HIV (TGWWH) have not made the same progress as their cisgender counterparts.
Methods: All PWH identifying as transgender women receiving care at our clinic from 1/1/2015 to 12/31/2019 were identified from the electronic health records (EHRs) using International Classification of Diseases (ICD) codes.
