Article Synopsis
  • The study looked at whether doing a procedure called thrombectomy by itself is just as good as doing thrombectomy with a medicine called alteplase for patients who have a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel.
  • Researchers in Europe and Canada tested this by randomly assigning stroke patients to either just thrombectomy or thrombectomy plus alteplase.
  • They wanted to see if the patients who only had thrombectomy would have similar recovery outcomes to those who had both treatments, and they kept track of how well everyone was doing over 90 days.

Background And Purpose: The Blood Pressure Target in Acute Ischemic Stroke to Reduce Hemorrhage After Endovascular Therapy (BP TARGET) trial evaluated whether an intensive systolic blood pressure (SBP) target resulted in reduced rates of intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) after successful endovascular therapy (EVT) but did not assess the effect of blood pressure variability (BPV) on functional outcomes and ICH occurrence. We sought to evaluate this question in the BP TARGET trial.

Methods: We performed a post hoc analysis of the BP TARGET trial and included patients with at least 50% of blood pressure (BP) recordings during the first 24 h after EVT.

Objective: The main objective was to compare clinical features, disease course, and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody (Ab) dynamics between children and adults with MOG-Ab-associated disease (MOGAD).

Methods: This retrospective multicentric, national study included 98 children and 268 adults with MOGAD between January 2014 and September 2019. Cox regression model for recurrent time-to-event data and Kaplan-Meier curves for time to antibody negativity were performed for the objectives.
