Background: The aim of this study is to evaluate the role of preoperative 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT) parameters, including maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), metabolic tumor volume (MTV), and total lesion glycolysis (TLG), hematologic prognostic indicators in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) in terms of predicting prognosis.
Methods: One hundred and one patients who had undergone 18F-FDG PET/CT for initial staging were evaluated retrospectively. Patient data including pathologic stage at presentation, histology, tumor location, and overall survival (OS) were analyzed.

The popularity and usage of synthetic cannabinoids (SCs) are increasing due to their easy accessibility and psychoactive effects worldwide. Studies on cannabinoids on leukemic stem cells (LSC) and hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), which are the precursors of leukemia cells, generally depend on the natural cannabinoid delta-9-THC. As there is only a limited number of studies focusing on the results of SC applications, the reflections upon LSCs have to be clarified.

Introduction: Ischemia in ovarian torsion and subsequent reperfusion has significant effects on fertility in the long term. The most important reason for these changes is thought to be a reperfusion injury rather than ischemia. We aimed to evaluate whether the reperfusion injury following ovarian detorsion could be reduced by hypothermia and intermittent reperfusion.

Introduction: Reperfusion injury after detorsion in testicular torsion is a clinical problem. This study was planned to investigate the protective effect of intermittent reperfusion in hypothermia-applied testicles.
Materials And Methods: A total of 40 adult male rats were used, and 5 groups were created: sham (Sh; n = 8), torsion (T; torsion-detorsion) (n = 8), intermittent reperfusion (IR; n = 8), hypothermia (H; n = 8), and intermittent reperfusion+hypothermia (H+IR; n = 8).

Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine whether half-dose loading (30 mg) of prasugrel is sufficient to achieve adequate platelet inhibition, and whether such a loading dose of prasugrel together with aspirin followed by a 10 mg/day prasugrel maintenance, could serve as a first-line antiplatelet strategy for patients undergoing flow-diverting stent (FDS) implantation.
Methods: Data from a group of consecutive patients treated for intracranial aneurysm with FDS were retrospectively collected. Platelet P2Y12 receptor responsiveness was assessed by a rapid platelet function test just prior to the procedure.

Purpose: To evaluate prestin as a biomarker for the identification of early ototoxicity.
Materials And Methods: Rats (n = 47) were randomly assigned to five groups: low-dose (LAG) or high-dose (HAG) amikacin (200 and 600 mg/kg/day, respectively, for 10 days), low-dose (LCIS)or high-dose (HCIS) cisplatin (single doses of 5 and 15 mg/kg, respectively, for 3 days), and control (n = 8). At the end of the experiment, measurement of distortion product-evoked otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE) were performed to evaluate hearing, then blood samples and both ear tissues were collected under anesthesia.

Background/aims: The most widely used method for diagnosing sarcopenia is the skeletal muscle index (SMI). Several studies have suggested that psoas muscle thickness per height (PMTH) is also effective for detecting sarcopenia and predicting prognosis in patients with cirrhosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the optimal cutoff values of PMTH for detecting sarcopenia in cirrhotic patients.

Aim: To measure diameter of foveal avascular zone (FAZ), FAZ area, and vessel density using Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCT-A) in patients with normal tension glaucoma (NTG) and to establish the possible role of OCT-A in diagnosis and follow-up of patients with NTG.
Methods: Twenty-one eyes of 21 patients with NTG and 30 eyes of 30 healthy subjects underwent complete ophthalmic examination as well as OCT-A on ZEISS AngioPlex. 3 × 3 macula scans were used to measure vertical, horizontal, and maximum diameter of FAZ by two graders.

Duane syndrome (DS) is a common form of congenital cranial dysinnervation disorders. The ocular motility pattern lies in a wide clinical spectrum, and the choice of treatment must be individualized depending on the severity of the clinical findings. There is no perfect method of treatment and no real "cure" in DS.

Strabismus surgery may be responsible for some restrictions in ocular motility that may cause new problems after surgery. Most of the time these restrictions present as a complex motility problem after surgery that requires further treatment. There may be various reasons that cause motility restriction following strabismus surgery.

The natural polyphenolic compound resveratrol (3,4,5-trihydroxy-trans-stilbene) has broad spectrum health beneficial activities including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, anti-cancer, cardioprotective, and neuroprotective effects. Remarkably, resveratrol also induces apoptosis and cellular senescence in primary and cancer cells. Resveratrol's anti-aging effects both in vitro and in vivo attributed to activation of a (NAD)-dependent histone deacetylase family member sirtuin-1 (SIRT1) protein.
