Background: Prostate cancer (PC) is the most common type of cancer in elderly men, with a positive correlation with age. As resistance to treatment has developed, particularly in the progressive stage of the disease and in the presence of microfocal multiple bone metastases, new generation radionuclide therapies have emerged. Recently, [Tb], a radiolanthanide introduced for treating micrometastatic foci, has shown great promise for treating prostate cancer.

Comparison of intramedullary nailing and plate fixation in the surgical treatment of isolated fractures of the distal two-thirds of ulna diaphysis.

Jt Dis Relat Surg

April 2023

Adnan Menderes Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji Anabilim Dalı, 09100 Aydın, Türkiye

Article Synopsis
  • The study compares clinical and radiological outcomes of two surgical techniques—intramedullary nailing (IMN) and plating—used to treat isolated fractures of the distal third of the ulna diaphysis in 54 patients between 2010 and 2016.
  • After analyzing factors like operating time and follow-up results, it found that IMN had a shorter median operation time (33 min) compared to plating (46 min).
  • Overall, IMN showed similar clinical outcomes and fewer cases requiring implant removal, making it a viable alternative to plating for these types of fractures.
